Chapter 654 Special Wedding Anniversary
Soon, the car stopped outside the small villa. Chandler helped Meryl open the car door and gestured for her to get out.
Chandlerโs phone rang at this moment.
โMeryl, itโs Dante. Itโs too cold outside, so go inside first, and Iโll catch up with you after I finish this call,โ he said.
Meryl nodded lightly without thinking much.
After answering the call, Dante said confusingly, โChandler, why did you ask me to call you?โ
Chandlerโs gaze followed Meryl until she went inside, then he said, โI just wanted to chat with you.โ
Dante furrowed his brow and said, โChandler, youโre not yourself. We never talk on the phone for personal reasons.โ
Chandler agreed. โThereโs really nothing for us to talk about, so youโre just a tool for me.โ
Dante looked completely confused and shocked. โWhat did you say? I donโt understand. What tool?โ
Chandler chuckled and said, โThatโs why I have a wife while you donโt.โ
Dante angered. โHey! Thatโs offensive!โ
โAnne drank too much at her classmate reunion. During the meal, a few men were very attentive to her, probably wanting to go on a date with her,โ Chandler said.
Upon hearing this, Dante immediately became tense. โWhat did you say?โ
He had just dealt with Yancey not long ago and hadnโt started pursuing Anne with all his might, yet there was already someone else competing with him.
โChandler, I gotta hang up! Iโm going to defend my love!โ Dante hung up the phone, handed the child over to the nanny, and quickly drove to the restaurant.
Chandler glanced at the small villa. Meryl had been inside for five minutes.
He suddenly smiled for no reason, hoping she would like what was inside the house.
Meryl opened the door and smelled a wave of fragrance before she even had time to turn on the lights.
She groped around in the dark and turned on the lights.
According to her expectations, the living room should have been lit up at this moment, but it wasnโt.
Meanwhile, a row of warm yellow starโshaped lights lit up at her feet, dimly lit but very romantic.
Meryl realized then that the fragrance she smelled as soon as she entered was from roses.
The roses were intricately wrapped with the star lights and were shaped into a path. The warm yellow lights enveloped her, and everything around looked so romantic.
Meryl was stunned and realized that roses had been spread all over the room.
She followed the path and walked slowly towards the depths, unconsciously arriving outside her and Chandlerโs room.
As Meryl pushed the door, she was immediately astounded.
Inside the room, a huge heart made of roses was arranged on her and Chandlerโs bed, with the words โI love youโ written on it.
To be honest, she thought it was a bit outdated.
But seeing all this, she still felt very sweet.
A man like Chandler, who grew up on a farm and spent so many years in the police academy, definitely didnโt know how to express his love to a girl.
It was already very good of him to have this intention.
She suddenly thought, โIs Chandler celebrating their wedding anniversary for me? I thought he had forgotten itโฆโ
Unexpectedly, Chandler actually remembered it. As for these roses, he must have taken time out to arrange them himself.
As she walked along, she roughly estimated that there might be thousands of roses in this room. At first, they were arranged very carefully and neatly, but later on, he obviously didnโt have enough time. Although they were slightly messy, it didnโt matter much.
The โI love youโ on the bed also looked a bit messy in a notโveryโstandard typeface.
Surrounded by the fragrance of the roses, Meryl suddenly felt like crying.
Chandlerโs declaration of love was so simple and sincere. He could have easily hired someone to set all this up, but he chose to do it himself. He was really putting in a lot of effort.
Merylโs mood had been up and down throughout the day. She had originally thought that Chandler had forgotten their anniversary completely, but now she was only left with feelings of gratitude.
How disappointed she had been before, now her surprise was just as great.
Chandler must have decided to bring her home tonight a long time ago, yet he pretended it was a whim and picked her up. He had kept it such a good secret from her that Meryl had never thought he would celebrate their anniversary in such a way.
She had never found him so charming.
She thought the surprise was over, but unexpectedly, at that moment, the projector in the room suddenly lit up to project Merylโs photos on the wall.
These pictures she had never seen were all taken from Chandlerโs perspective.
The first one was of Meryl cooking in the kitchen wearing an apron shortly after she married Chandler.
Since she hadnโt cooked for a long time and was afraid she wouldnโt do well, she was using a fork to pick up a piece of meat from the pot to adjust the taste.
Meryl vaguely remembered that at that time, Chandler was sitting not far away at the dining table, handling some business on his laptop.
He was so focused on his work that he didnโt notice her at all.
But he had secretly taken her photo while handling his work.
She didnโt know if Chandler was truly focused on his work or if he had already been distracted by her.
The second photo was of the morning after Meryl and Chandler had sex for the first time.
While Meryl was still asleep, Chandler leaned to her to kiss her forehead. Then, he captured this moment with a camera.
Merylโs heart pounded hard.
The next three photos were taken when Meryl was working at Galaxy Holdings Group. At that time, she was Chandlerโs secretary, so Chandler took them from his office.
Only then did Meryl realize that while Chandler was working, he was also secretly paying attention to her.
These photos almost covered every detail of her life. It turned out that Chandler had been documenting all of this without her knowledge.
There was one photo that Meryl remembered vividly.
It was taken from the time she was in the orchestra, and Chandler drove her home, though she couldnโt remember the exact time.
With people coming and going around, Chandlerโs camera lens had already been pointed at her from inside the car.
He called her name, and Meryl instinctively turned her head, waved at Chandler, and showed a bright smile.
This photo was very artistically taken, as if his gaze pierced through the crowd and saw only her among so many people.
Through these pictures, Meryl realized that the lens also had a language.
She could almost see through the photos into the mindset of the photographer and even feel Chandlerโs intense love for her.
There were exactly 520 photos here. Meryl was in tears after finishing looking at them.
The past events emerged one by one in front of her. Many small details that she had forgotten were now being reconstructed in her mind.
She didnโt notice that she and Chandler had done so many things together.
Merylโs tears covered her entire face, and she felt very touched.
This wedding anniversary was not superficial; Chandler had really put his heart into preparing it.
She lowered her head, and tears dripped down her cheeks one by one.
At that moment, Chandler came up behind her and asked, โWhy are you crying?โ
He pulled Meryl into his embrace.
Meryl raised her hand and lightly hit Chandlerโs chest.
โYouโre such an asshole. Why didnโt you tell me you prepared all of this? I thoughtโฆโ Meryl choked up.
โYou thought I had forgotten?โ Chandler reached out to wipe away Merylโs tears and felt very distressed to see her crying.
He said, โI struggled so hard to marry you. How could I forget such an important day?โ
Chandler had been preparing for days in advance. After all, it wasnโt easy to buy ten thousand roses in such a short time.
So, he contacted several florists and cleared out their rose inventory.
Arranging ten thousand roses was even more difficult.
He hadnโt gone to the Stone Villa to see Meryl these days because all his free time was spent on this.
Chandler had been busy since the middle of the night two days ago.
Since the roses arrived in batches, he was worried they would wilt before the anniversary, so Chandler also watered them himself.
The roses had thorns, and some of them hadnโt been cleaned properly. Several times while moving the flowers, they pricked his fingers, but he didnโt have time to deal with it.
Because Chandler wanted to personally put effort into their wedding anniversary, he didnโt ask anyone for help.
Just before he went to the classmate gathering to find Meryl, Chandler was still standing beside the bed, arranging the โI love you.โ
Those three words, which were easy to put together, never satisfied him.
Especially with the middle word, after several attempts to arrange it properly, he simply decided to replace it with a heart.
Yet he had underestimated the task because arranging a heart wasnโt easy either.
Chandler had spent the first few decades of his life chasing criminals, training his physique, and building a body full of muscles. He had never done such delicate work before.
Now, all his muscles were being used to create romance for Meryl.
It was his first time doing something like this for a girl, and he wasnโt sure if Meryl would like it. Until just now, outside the door, Chandler was still anxious about whether Meryl would think his surprise was too outdated.
But fortunately, she seemed satisfied.
However, Chandler felt a bit guilty because he seemed to have made his beloved woman cry.
So, Chandler gently hugged Meryl. Her tears almost melted his heart.
โDonโt you like it? Tell me, and I promise that by our second anniversary, Iโll make it perfect,โ he said.
In fact, she couldnโt be more pleased!
