Secret Admiration: Finding True Love After Pโฆ
Chapter 658 Let Me Pursue You
Anne asked, โWhy are you here?โ
She walked out of the hotel. As most of her classmates had families, they left early. Anne was among the last to leave. Seeing that Anne had drunk too much, several male classmates asked where her home was and competed to send her back.
Anne looked at them and said, โWhat are you doing? When did I become a heartthrob?โ
Poking one of the male classmates in the chest, she said, โOr is it because youโre after my money?โ
Anne was really quite drunk, but she could still articulate. Glancing at these men, she continued, โJust leave me alone. Nowadays, rich women arenโt fools. No one wants to waste their time on you idiots.โ
She was very clear that their flattering behavior was solely because of her money. From Yancey, Anne had deeply learned that people from different social classes would not have a good outcome together. Money wasnโt omnipotent, but without it, no one could do anything. This was especially true for marriage. Most importantly, Anne didnโt want to waste money on men anymore.
Even though she was rich, she didnโt want to spend it on men who didnโt deserve her. If this continued for a long time, that person would take her efforts for granted.
Seeing Anne ruthlessly expose their thoughts, several male classmates awkwardly touched their noses and left one after another. Only one person remained by her side. Anne squinted her eyes and looked at the other person.
The man was about 6.14 feet tall. Even though Anne wasnโt short, standing beside him, she felt small.
โWhy havenโt you left yet? Didnโt you hear what I just said? Or are you even thicker-skinned than them?โ Anne raised her head and smiled at the man.
Without responding to that, he grabbed Anneโs wrist, saying, โCall a designated driver to take your car back. Iโll take you home.โ
Anne swung her arm and said, โWho are you? Why are you making decisions for me?โ
His car had already been driven to the outside of the hotel by the driver. Anne looked over and saw that it was a top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz. It seemed that this person was doing well and at least wasnโt short of money. She was shocked to find that he even had a driver.
For now, Anne was really quite drunk with a dazed mind, and many words came out without thinking. Seeing that Anne had swung her arm away, he wasnโt angry but instead bent down and looked her in the eyes.
โMy name is Max Blunt, your old deskmate. You copied so many of my assignments back then and now donโt even recognize me?โ he said.
Anne thought hazily for a few seconds and finally recalled a deskmate with the last name Blunt who transferred schools, seemingly because his familyโs business had moved to the south. And indeed, she did copy quite a bit of his homework. One time, she even forgot to change the name on her assignment and caused a big laugh. At that time, the teacher said angrily in front of the whole class, โAnne, is your name also Max?โ
Anne blinked her eyes and finally felt a bit more awake at this moment. Throughout the entire night, she had been in a daze, thinking about Bella one moment and then distracted by those male classmates who were flirting with her the next, so she couldnโt concentrate at all, and as a result, she didnโt even notice Max. He was very low-key tonight and seemed to have not actively spoken to her at all. Suddenly, he appeared when she was about to go home.
โMax? Didnโt your family move to the south for development? Why did you come to this classmateโs party?โ she asked curiously.
โIโm here on a business trip.โ Max walked to the car and opened the back door. The streetlight illuminated his handsome face. He said, โItโs too cold. Do you want to get in the car so that we can talk on the way?โ
Anne noticed that his license plate was from Havenbrook. This proved that he was really here on a business trip. She pondered for a few seconds and was just about to nod when suddenly she was hit by a cold wind and sneezed.
However, just then, a coat was draped over her shoulders. Dante arrived. The cold wind blew his shirt. He put his hand on Anneโs shoulder, โItโs no trouble for Mr. Blunt to send her home.โ
As their eyes met, Anne felt that the atmosphere between these two men seemed a bit weird.
Dante looked at Max and said, โItโs better for me to send my woman home myself.โ
Max just glanced at him coldly and then looked at Anne. In fact, Danteโs appearance stunned Anne.
Max said somewhat dejectedly, โSince you have something else to do, letโs make it another time, Anne.โ
After speaking, he got into the Mercedes. His driver quickly took him away.
Only then did Anne realize afterward that Dante had just referred to her as โmy woman.โ
She slapped his hand away from her shoulder and said coldly, โDante, since weโre already divorced, can you please not appear in front of me? Iโm not your woman. Please have some self-respect!โ
He said, โShameless? Werenโt you my woman once?โ
โOnce? Once I was even your simp, but now everything changed,โ she said.
Anneโs face was flushed due to the alcohol, and she wouldnโt stop ridiculing him. Dante looked at her like this and found her very noisy, so he directly picked her up over his shoulder.
โWhat are you doing?โ Anne was startled in an instant.
โAnne, Iโm taking you home,โ Dante said as he walked.
She said, โPut me down.โ
At this moment, Dante held her legs, and Anneโs abdomen was pressed against his shoulder. This position made her stomach, which was full of alcohol, feel very uncomfortable. Anne felt like she was going to throw up.
โNo,โ he said.
Dante briefly rejected her and carried Anne towards his car.
โWell, donโt regret it later.โ
His coat was draped over Anneโs shoulders. Dante only had a white shirt. And then, she threw up on his white shirt.
Danteโs face soured in an instant. He had a very serious case of cleanliness, and Anne throwing up on him was almost like killing him. If this had happened in the past, Dante would definitely fly into a rage.
Now, he threw her onto the back seat and stared at her. Anne knew that she had just touched his major taboo and was already prepared to face Danteโs anger. However, Dante just took a deep breath and slowly pulled out two tissues from the carโs center console to wipe his shirt. Then, he casually got into the car as if nothing had happened.
As the car was driving smoothly on the road, Anne blinked her eyes in disbelief, wondering how Dante had changed so much all of a sudden. He seemed to be a bit gentler to her than before.
โWhat trick are you pulling?โ Anne asked.
โCanโt you see?โ Dante turned his head and stared into Anneโs eyes, saying, โIโm pursuing you.โ
