Chapter 660 Betrayal

Meryl and Chandler were over there, hugging and kissing each other passionately. Rachel even witnessed Meryl leaning into Chandler’s arms, her face flushed from his kisses. But even so, Meryl kept her arms tightly wrapped around Chandler’s neck and kept kissing him.

Rachel clenched her teeth tightly. She thought, “I didn’t know how Meryl could do that so shamelessly when she was even pregnant. Wasn’t Meryl afraid that the baby in her belly would suffer if something happened? She’s been pregnant for so long, but are they still going to sleep with each other at night?”

Rachel couldn’t take it anymore, and she stood up purposely, hitting the table with a loud thud. She was just trying to pretend, but she didn’t realize that she had actually fallen terribly when she slipped by accident. Chandler focused on kissing Meryl in the foyer, and he was already getting desperate for more.

Hearing the noise, Chandler eventually realized that there was someone else in the house. At that moment, as if someone had thrown some cold water on Chandler’s head, his desire instantly almost disappeared. Chandler instantly looked disgruntled.

“Chandler, are you back? I fell, and it hurt…” Rachel’s soft voice came out in tears, looking pretty aggrieved.

Chandler looked grim as he glanced at Meryl before stepping towards Rachel. “Since you can’t see anything, don’t move around.” Chandler helped Rachel to her feet.

Rachel felt even more aggrieved. “It was suddenly so quiet in the house just now, and I didn’t hear anything, so I…”

Chandler said, “I’ll ask the maid to help you upstairs to sleep.”

Rachel said immediately, “But I’ve been home all day, and I’m feeling a bit bored. You happen to be back, so will you go for a walk with me?”

“I’ve been working all day, and I just got home. I’m tired, so I don’t want to go out,” Chandler rejected her bluntly. “If you want to go out, I’ll have Susan stay with you.”

Rachel was frustrated by Chandler’s repeated rejections. But Chandler finished speaking before heading upstairs to take a shower.

At that moment, Meryl walked up to Rachel, stuck her tongue out at her, and made a face. Rachel saw Meryl being so provocative, but she could only pretend to be blind, unable to fight back. She clenched her fists tightly.

Meryl purposely called workers to her home during the day to install cameras all over the living room and hallway. As the workers were installing the cameras, they didn’t avoid Rachel. Rachel knew that Meryl was doing this to target her. Meryl was hoping that she wouldn’t continue to pretend and expose herself. The entire villa was now under surveillance except for the restrooms and bedrooms.

Some time ago, Chandler had told Rachel that he was going to send her abroad when her eyes got better. But Rachel didn’t want to go abroad. Chandler said she could also stay home, but she’d have to marry Felix, and he wouldn’t bother with her anymore. Rachel couldn’t imagine what would happen if she married Felix. In addition to Felix, there was another man in the Powell family, Christopher, who was interested in Rachel. By the time she married into the Powell family and was involved with two men, it would be the beginning of her nightmare. Felix was a maniac, and once he knew that Rachel had slept with Christopher, Rachel didn’t even want to think about the consequences at all. After thinking about it, Rachel thought the best thing for her would be to pretend to be blind for a while.

At night, Meryl was sleeping in the bed, and Chandler cuddled up to her as soon as he got into bed. “Why are there so many cameras in the house?”

Meryl said casually, “I’m afraid I won’t get it clear when the time comes if I have a problem with Rachel.”

Chandler could sense Meryl’s grudges. “Are you still blaming me? I told you about that day, and I did believe you…”

“So, do you also think Rachel fell down the stairs by herself that day?” Chandler hesitated. He was sure Meryl hadn’t meant to hurt Rachel, but had Rachel fallen down the stairs on her own? It was too unbelievable. Who would be so cruel to themselves? Chandler was more convinced that they had gotten into an argument and that Rachel had accidentally fallen down the stairs while they were tugging at each other, and she blamed Meryl directly.

Chandler was about to say something when his phone suddenly rang. It was an unfamiliar number. It was quiet in the night, so Meryl could clearly hear the voice coming from the other side of the phone as she leaned into Chandler’s arms.

“Is this Mr. Aniston? Your nephew is in the police station for fighting. Can you come over?”

Chandler thought, “My nephew? Was it Dalton?” Who would dare get into a fight with Dalton? And he even went to the police station. Chandler asked, “What happened?”

“He was jealous because of a girl.”

No wonder someone called him. Dalton had gotten married, but he was still seducing other women outside. If his wife found it out, it would be a problem.

Hanging up the phone, Chandler rubbed his forehead. “Meryl, I’m afraid I have to go to the police station. You can sleep first.” Lydia was nourishing the fetus in the hospital, but why was Dalton hanging out instead of taking care of her?

Meryl nodded. She thought about it and was reluctant for Chandler to leave, so she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him hard on the lips. She slowly moved her mouth to his neck. “Honey, come back early to be with me, okay?”

The way Meryl called Chandler made him feel surprised. His eyes were filled with affection. Meryl’s kiss had caught him off guard and aroused the desire he’d just suppressed. Chandler leaned over and kissed her while cupping her cheeks and said in a hoarse voice, “I just got out of the shower. If you keep this up, I’m going to change my clothes again.”

Meryl didn’t answer. She was so shy that she hurriedly wrapped herself inside the covers.

Chandler put on his jacket and went out the door. The moment Chandler opened the door, he ran right into Rachel. She was groping around in the hallway with her arms outstretched.

“Chandler, is that you? Where are you going? Are you going out for a walk? Can you take me with you?”

Chandler turned around as soon as he saw Rachel, and he glanced at her coldly. “It’s already late. Since you can’t see anything, don’t go out.”

Rachel nodded. “Chandler, thank you for caring about me.”

“No.” Chandler’s eyes fell on her floor-length white dress. Rachel had her hair down, and she was dressed all in white, so she looked a lot like a ghost. Chandler scratched his nose. “I was worried you were scaring Meryl.”

Rachel felt instantly speechless. Before she could respond, Chandler had already gotten out the door.

At the police station, Dalton’s face was injured, with a red abrasion mark on the bridge of his nose. He wiped the blood from the corner of his lips, but he didn’t wipe it off. He inexplicably looked more depressed and disheveled. Dalton was propped up with one arm on the bench’s armrest, his suit jacket open with a black shirt underneath. He had three buttons undone, revealing his muscular body.

Billy was nagging aside, “If I had known this woman was so mean, I shouldn’t have introduced her to you back then!” Billy’s face was also injured.

Lillian was cowering in the corner, a man about her age sitting beside her. The man was dressed plainly, and he was Lillian’s boyfriend, who was obviously hurt more severely than Dalton and Billy. Lillian wiped the corners of the man’s lips, but she was pushed away from him.

“What did I do wrong for you to betray me?” Lillian’s boyfriend looked at her in frustration, as if he couldn’t figure out how his girlfriend was dating a rich guy.
