Chapter 715 Divorce Agreement
Early the next morning, not long after Anne had left, there was a knock on the door.
Meryl thought Anne might have forgotten something and quickly went to open the door. She was startled to find Chandler standing outside.
Meryl was taken aback for a moment, then immediately tried to close the door. But Chandler blocked it.
He said, โMeryl, how have you been these days? I was worried that you might not recover well here, so I specially cooked tortilla soup for you and brought it over.โ
Meryl had been ignoring his calls. Chandler knew she was still angry. He had come to admit his mistake. He wanted to come in, but Meryl wouldnโt let him. They were at a stalemate at the door.
Chandler said, โEven if youโre still mad, you should take good care of yourself. Try the tortilla soup.โ
Merylโs face was pale. Chandler was worried that her body hadnโt fully recovered.
Chandler gently put his arm around Merylโs shoulder. Despite her resistance, he still forcefully pulled her into his embrace.
โCome home with me, okay? Let me take good care of you.โ
Meryl struggled but couldnโt break free. Chandler had a faint scent of body wash, which made her feel at ease.
He held Meryl with his arm, his chin resting on her shoulder, and said, โMeryl, I miss you so much. I canโt sleep at all without you by my side. These days, Iโve been suffering from insomnia all night, and my heart is in agony.
โWeโre husband and wife. Everything at home has been arranged properly. Itโs not appropriate for you to stay at your friendโs place instead of coming back to our home.
โWe can discuss everything. It was all my fault before. You can punish me however you want, but please donโt give me the cold shoulder.โ
Chandler said this with tearful eyes, his sincerity evident. He looked extremely tired, clearly showing signs of not having rested well for several days.
These days, Rachel was still in the intensive care unit.
The doctor said that she had woken up once in the middle but then fell into a coma again. Having had a kidney removed in such a shabby environment, she was severely infected, and her condition was not optimistic.
Although a subsequent operation managed to save Rachel, the doctor said that even if she woke up in the future, her body would likely be in very poor condition.
Chandler thought it was a pity to divorce just because of Rachel, as he had no feelings for Rachel. He knew very well that Meryl was determined to divorce because she minded Rachelโs presence. However, he would find a way to solve this problem. He really wanted to make it up to Meryl.
Chandler looked at Merylโs pale face with a pained expression. Perhaps because they were so close, Merylโs ear was pressed against Chandlerโs chest, and she could clearly hear his heartbeat.
Meryl lowered her head and suddenly let out a soft laugh. She raised her head with a smile and looked into Chandlerโs eyes. Since she couldnโt break free, she pushed her hands against his chest to create some distance.
This scene felt very familiar.
Meryl said softly, โChandler, youโre acting just like Dalton did when he regretted and came to court me back then.
โIt seems that the men in the Aniston family are all very affectionate.โ
She was mocking him.
Chandler was stunned for a moment, but still forcefully pulled Meryl back into his arms.
He said, โDonโt say that, Meryl. It hurts my heart when you talk like this.โ
โThen what should I do?โ
Merylโs hand suddenly caressed Chandlerโs cheek. She stroked him gently. Her eyes were sincere, even a bit confused as if she was truly puzzled by this question.
Subsequently, Merylโs fingers slowly moved to Chandlerโs sexy Adamโs apple.
She said, โShould I act as if nothing happened and be affectionate with you as before? Chandler, I canโt do that.
โFelix is still in the hospital. Andy saved your life, so you take good care of Rachel.
โBut Felix saved your wife and son. Shouldnโt you also repay him?โ
Meryl grabbed Chandlerโs collar and pulled him in front of her. Obviously, her tone was soft and gentle, as if she was saying the most intimate words of love, but Chandler saw the coldness in Merylโs eyes.
Tears streamed down her face, yet she seemed strong. Chandler felt his heart hurt. He could tell at a glance that Meryl was just pretending to be strong. In fact, beneath her tough exterior was a fragile heart, perhaps a heart that had long been bleeding because of him.
Chandler had truly hurt her!
Meryl forcefully pushed Chandler away, and while he was still in shock, she pushed him out of the door. Then, the door was slammed shut with force.
Meryl leaned against the door and slowly crouched down.
Chandler anxiously knocked on the door outside and said, โMeryl, open the door. I havenโt finished talking yet.โ
Meryl gently closed her eyes, thinking she should be stronger. She wiped away her tears, then opened the door.
Chandler was delighted. Meryl walked into the house first.
As Chandler was about to follow, he saw Meryl take out a document from the house and throw it into his arms.
He instinctively asked, โWhat is this?โ At the same time, he looked down at the document.
When he saw the divorce agreement, Chandler froze. Meryl really wanted to divorce him.
In just three days, she had already drawn up the divorce agreement, and every clause was very clear.
Chandler felt a sudden dizziness, and his body involuntarily swayed. He noticed that Meryl had lost weight in just a few days. However, the woman who had always been so gentle to him was now so cold.
Meryl looked at him with the eyes of a stranger. This was hard for Chandler to accept.
He said, โIโll take all this as you being angry with me.โ
Chandler leaned close to her ear and whispered, โDonโt you love me anymore? I donโt believe it.โ
