Chapter 726 She Was About to Leave

In the room, Meryl’s eyes fell on the crib. Her son probably wouldn’t be able to sleep in this crib, because when he got better, she would take him abroad.

Meryl looked around. Everything in this room was bought by her and Chandler after they got married. The cloakroom was full of her clothes, many of which were bought by Chandler. Meryl found a big bag and packed everything in the cloakroom into it. She couldn’t take these abroad, but since she had decided to leave, she had to leave completely.

She would slowly clean up everything related to her in the house before leaving. She was also making room for the future hostess of the house. Chandler was still so young; he probably would marry again.

The cello music just now was Meryl’s farewell to Chandler in her heart, but he probably didn’t understand it yet. In fact, Rachel and Chandler were childhood sweethearts. Maybe she was really the one who destroyed their relationship.

At the end of the sorting, Meryl felt inexplicably sad. Her eyes were red, and she could faintly hear footsteps in the corridor. Guessing that Chandler had finished his dinner and come up, Meryl immediately turned off the light in the cloakroom and walked out. Chandler just happened to push the door open.

“Meryl, Rachel has woken up.”

Meryl was stunned. She didn’t expect Chandler to suddenly mention her. She nodded and asked, “How is she doing?”

“Not very well. The doctor said she was a little depressed. That incident was a big blow to her. I plan to send her abroad for recuperation in half a month.”

Meryl was stunned, thinking, “Is Chandler planning to accompany Rachel abroad? Half a month later… It is about the time I will leave.”

Meryl said in a muffled voice, “Are you going with her?”

“Just sending her there. I happen to be on a business trip to Englord.”

Meryl lowered her eyes slightly. “Okay. Then you should spend more time with her.”

Chandler didn’t expect Meryl to say that. She was surprisingly obedient. Chandler frowned, trying to see something amiss on Meryl’s face, but she looked normal. The more Meryl acted like this, the weirder Chandler felt.

Meryl avoided his gaze. “It’s late. Are you going to sleep in the study tonight?”

Chandler was slightly stunned. “No. I’ll sleep with you.”

In the middle of the night, they lay in the same bed, but Meryl’s thoughts drifted away. At this moment, she deeply understood what it meant to sleep in the same bed but have different dreams. Chandler felt the same way.

He looked at Meryl’s figure with her back to him and wanted to reach out and pull her into his arms several times. However, when his hand was about to touch her, he let it go.

He had been waiting for Meryl to confess to him about the baby, but in the past two days, Meryl didn’t reveal anything to him. He thought, “So is she going to hide it from me for the rest of her life and let me raise Dalton’s son?”

Chandler’s deep eyes were filled with annoyance, and he felt hurt for no reason. He suddenly pulled Meryl into his arms. His kiss landed heavily on Meryl’s lips, lingering and sad.

In the darkness, Chandler whispered in Meryl’s ear, “Meryl, have you ever loved me?”

If it were in the past, Meryl would have nodded without hesitation, but she had already decided to leave him. There was no point in lingering on these things. Meryl didn’t say she loved him or didn’t.

She raised her hand and hooked Chandler’s neck, deepening the kiss. Chandler’s Adam’s apple rolled, but he knew it better than anyone else: she avoided answering, which meant she didn’t love him.

Meryl gently rubbed his nose and asked, “What about you? Do you love me?”

“Of course I do!” Chandler’s eyes were red. “Meryl, can’t you just comfort me? Say you love me, okay?”

He, who was always proud, sounded a little pitiful at this moment. As long as Meryl said she loved him, he would persuade himself to accept the child who was not his. What if he just pretended that nothing had happened in his life? That wouldn’t be a bad idea.

However, Meryl just lowered her eyes gently. “It’s late. We should sleep.”

They were so close, yet seemed so far away. Meryl thought that the love Chandler talked about was a little ridiculous. She didn’t see her son in the hospital. When she had already walked out of the hospital, she wanted to ask the doctor about her son’s condition in detail, but she heard the doctor and Chandler talking on the phone when she arrived at the office. It was Chandler who told the doctor not to let her see her son. Meryl couldn’t figure out why Chandler didn’t let her see her son. Did he think she wanted a divorce, so he wanted to use the baby to restrain her?

Meryl thought about it for a whole day but couldn’t figure it out. That night, they lay in the same bed, but both of them were thinking about other things. The next morning, when Meryl woke up, Chandler was gone. She was not surprised at all.

In the cloakroom, she packed the rest of her clothes. Meryl called John again and asked him to take all these things to the Stone Villa. John felt something was wrong when he saw Meryl’s packed luggage.

“Meryl, are you going to run away from home?”

“Yeah.”

“Does Chandler know?”

“No.” Meryl lowered her eyes. “He probably doesn’t care that much.”

John’s expression was serious. Chandler wasn’t home the last few times he came. He didn’t need to think about it to know that Meryl had been left out by Chandler. John rolled up his sleeves, looking like he was going to settle accounts with Chandler. “You just gave birth. How could he not accompany you?”

Meryl thought of the scene of Chandler accompanying Rachel in the hospital yesterday. She whispered, “Maybe someone more important than me needs his company.”

John froze. “Does he have a mistress?” He could find out what happened recently if he wanted. John knew that Chandler had a childhood sweetheart who was in the hospital. “Is Chandler not accompanying that woman?” John gritted his teeth. “I’m going to confront him!”

Meryl grabbed him. “Stop. I know what I’m doing. Help me take these things home.”

John nodded. “If you’ve been wronged, come home! Meryl, don’t worry. I’ll help you raise your kid!”

“I’m not going back.”

John was puzzled. “Where are you going?”

“I’ve applied to a school abroad and plan to take my son with me. No one knows about this for now. Don’t tell anyone.”

John was stunned, then nodded. “I agree! Going abroad for further studies is a good thing! So when do you plan to leave?”

“In half a month.”

The new semester would start in a month. She needed to go there in advance to settle down.
