Chapter 728 Kids Were Innocent!
Meryl only thought for two seconds and rejected Felixโs proposal.
The reason was simple. She already owed Felix too much.
And favors were the hardest to repay.
She didnโt want their relationship to become more complicated.
Hearing Meryl reject him without hesitation, he stared at her, and his eyes suddenly darkened.
Even if she broke up with Chandler, Meryl didnโt consider him.
Felix was unwilling.
He didnโt believe that he couldnโt pursue her.
Looking at the determination on Felixโs face, Philip reminded softly, โMr. Powell, Mrs. Aniston has left.โ
After a long time, Felix retracted his gaze.
He touched his chin with his hand and suddenly asked, โWho is more handsome, me or Chandler?โ
Philip was speechless, thinking, โWhy did Mr. Powell compare himself with another man for no reason?โ
Philip wanted to say that Felix was more handsome.
But Chandlerโs face had standard male features. Even in a crowd, he could be noticed at a glance. Philip really couldnโt say he was ugly.
Philip said, โYou have completely different looks. You each have your own characteristics.โ
Felix frowned. He seemed quite dissatisfied with this answer.
โThen if you were a woman choosing a husband, who would you choose?โ
Philip thought, โIs that even necessary? Chandler is more reliable in terms of personality.โ
But when he thought about it carefully, Felix didnโt seem bad either.
Felix just looked unreliable, but he was actually very affectionate.
As long as Felix fell in love with someone, he would not change easily. And he would be kind to that person with all his heart, even at the cost of his life.
When others mentioned Felix, they would think he was cruel and eccentric.
But Philip understood that these were just appearances.
Felix had never felt the warmth from anyone, so naturally he was not friendly to them.
But Meryl was very good to him. She was the only ray of light in his barren life.
So Felix could open his heart to her.
Philip looked at Felix. โMr. Powell, of course I will choose you!โ
Felix chuckled, โOkay. I know you admire me, but I have no interest in you.โ
Philip scratched the back of his head foolishly.
Meryl did not leave the hospital.
She went to the self-service machine in the lobby to print out her sonโs recent medical bill.
She found that her sonโs body might have serious problems.
She knew a lot about pharmacology, so she carefully looked at the medicines prescribed by the doctor.
Many of these medicines were used to treat heart diseases.
When her son was first admitted to the hospital, the doctor did not say that he had a serious heart problem. They just said that he had a little problem, but as he got older, he would slowly recover.
She wondered, โWhy did he get worse after staying in the hospital for a month?โ
Meryl wanted to see her son as soon as possible and feel his pulse to confirm it.
So she wandered outside the neonatal department for a while.
Her sonโs attending doctor came over just in time.
Meryl didnโt say that she had just printed out the medical bill and knew about her sonโs condition, but asked, โDoctor, when can my son be discharged from the hospital?โ
The babyโs body had recovered well in the past few days, and the amount of medicine had begun to decrease.
The operation was successful, and the little guy was doing well.
Seeing Meryl, the doctor was no longer so stressed.
He said, โYou will be able to take him home in a few days. He needs to do a few more tests.โ
Meryl immediately asked, โCan I see him now?โ
The doctor hesitated and nodded. โBut you have to disinfect before you go in.โ
Meryl agreed.
In any case, it was a good thing for her to see her son.
The last time she saw him was a month ago. Babies grow fast. She didnโt know what he looked like now.
Meryl put on protective clothing and walked in. Her son was carried to a separate compartment by the nurse.
At just one glance, Meryl found something wrong!
Although all babies look similar, Meryl saw her sonโs photo every day. She thought, โHow come he looks so different from a month ago?โ
Merylโs eyes subconsciously looked at the babyโs right ear.
She remembered that her son had a mole on his ear, but this kid didnโt!
Merylโs heart beat very fast. โWhat is going on? What is the probability that the hospital mixed up the babies?โ
Meryl immediately grabbed the babyโs feet and took a look at his ankles.
The wristband did say โMerylโs sonโ.
She wondered, โBut what about the mole on his ear?
The birthmark he had when he was born couldnโt disappear after staying in the hospital for a month, right?โ
Meryl pursed her lips and fixed her eyes on the babyโs face.
This little guy really looked a bit like her.
Meryl didnโt say anything.
She took out her phone and took a photo of the babyโs face. Then she compared it with the photo she had taken before.
No matter how she compared them, they were indeed not the same baby.
Then there was only one possibility.
She and Lydia had the same father but different mothers, so they looked a bit similar.
So this baby, who looked a bit like her, was Lydiaโs son!
Meryl was so angry that she was shaking.
Lydia actually stole her son without anyone noticing!
More than 20 years ago, Lydia replaced her as the daughter of the Stone family and enjoyed all the benefits.
She thought, โTwenty years later, Lydia wanted to play the same trick and steal my son?
How could Lydia be so vicious? How could she abandon her own son?
Did she just want revenge on me?
No. It didnโt seem right!โ
According to the medication list Meryl just checked, this baby was likely to have heart problems.
She wondered, โDid Lydia think her son would not live long, so she stole my healthy son?
No. Maybe it is more than that!โ
Lydiaโs marriage to Dalton was not happy. She was in dire straits in the Aniston family.
It was also possible that Lydia stole her son to consolidate her own position.
Besides, Lydia could also use her son to vent her own anger!
Meryl broke out in a cold sweat just thinking about it!
Lydia was so vicious!
This was really killing two birds with one stone!
She didnโt need to think to know that Lydia would train her son into a little devil full of hatred.
When her son grew up, Lydia would want to see her and her son become enemies!
What a vicious plan!
The baby in the cradle suddenly cried.
Meryl looked at Lydiaโs son.
She didnโt know how Lydia switched the two kids without anyone noticing.
The kids were innocent.
But they had become Lydiaโs bargaining chips.
Meryl gently patted the crying baby.
The little guy was very thin. He was abandoned by his biological mother just a few days after he was born.
Meryl would not involve him in all this.
Perhaps because of Merylโs comfort, the crying baby slowly calmed down and fell asleep again.
