Chapter 88 Pay Attention to Me

The crowd was shocked. What exciting news! Dalton and Ethan, who were wrestling with each other, were speechless.

Meryl looked at the stunned hotel manager. โ€œCall the police and ask them for compensation if necessary. These damn guys should both be put in jail! And the food I just ordered is all on them!โ€

With that, Meryl picked up her bag and walked out of the restaurant without hesitation. The confused onlookers glanced at each other.

Dalton and Ethan finally stopped. Ethan caught sight of the direction Meryl had gone and got ready to chase after her.

Dalton narrowed his eyes. โ€œEthan, what are you doing?โ€

Ethan grinned broadly despite his red and swollen face. โ€œYou broke up with Meryl. Why canโ€™t you stand others pursuing her? Dalton, do you regret it? However, you already have a fiancรฉe! How interesting and lively Meryl is! Even if I donโ€™t woo her, she has plenty of men vying for her attention. Just hold back your displeasure!โ€

Ethan immediately turned around and left the restaurant.

Dalton sneered, โ€œDamn it! How dare you!โ€

When Ethan exited the restaurant, Meryl was nowhere to be seen.

It seemed like it was going to rain soon. Meryl didnโ€™t stay outside any longer and took a taxi back home. Sure enough, as soon as she entered the house, a loud boom of thunder resounded.

Meanwhile, Chandler, who was socializing with a business tycoon, suddenly looked out of the window. Bean-sized raindrops fell and dripped onto the leaves, forming a long string of beads. The thunder continued to rumble, one after another, distracting him.

โ€œMr. Aniston, whatโ€™s wrong?โ€

The middle-aged man held a wine glass and called out to Chandler several times, but there was no response, which struck him as odd.

Chandler stood up, fetched the coat on the chair, and hurried out. โ€œMr. Dixon, thatโ€™s all for today. Itโ€™s raining, and my cat at home will be scared.โ€

When Chandler arrived home, Meryl was cooking spaghetti in the kitchen with a sprained ankle. Steam billowed from the pot as she held a soup spoon, scooping up a spoonful of soup and bringing it to her lips to taste. She had just taken a shower and was wearing a white nightgown with her hair casually cascading over her shoulders.

Seeing Chandler suddenly come in, Meryl whirled around in surprise. โ€œIs the social event over so soon? But I only cooked one plate of spaghetti.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ve eaten.โ€ Chandler took off his coat, glanced lightly at Merylโ€™s ankles, and calmly observed the spaghetti she had cooked. โ€œIs this your dinner tonight?โ€

Meryl nodded. โ€œCarbohydrates, vegetables, and protein. How rich!โ€

She sat down at the table with the spaghetti and started eating. Chandler frowned, his eyes falling on her slender waist. โ€œHave you gained weight recently?โ€

Meryl raised her head proudly. โ€œYes! I gained almost a pound in a week!โ€

โ€œAfter you pee, itโ€™s gone.โ€

After walking to the refrigerator, Chandler retrieved a box of milk, removed its outer packaging, and poured the milk into a small saucepan to heat it.

Coughing, Meryl was too shocked to believe that he had made such a statement.

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

Meryl nodded and replied frankly, โ€œMr. Aniston, I thought someone like you wouldnโ€™t say something rude.โ€

Chandler fixed his eyes on her face. โ€œSomeone like me? What kind of person am I?โ€

She put down her fork and tilted her head to gaze at him. โ€œYou are so noble and cold, like a god who doesnโ€™t care about worldly things.โ€

Chandler chuckled, โ€œThatโ€™s your illusion. I also have to eat, drink, and use the bathroom. Iโ€™m just an ordinary person.โ€

The milk started to bubble, prompting him to turn off the heat. He poured the hot milk into a glass and brought it to Meryl. The temperature was just right, not too hot, and the milky white liquid emitted a gentle white vapor.

โ€œAs a human being, I have emotions and desires. Meryl, you feel that I am distant because you didnโ€™t know me before.โ€

He sat next to Meryl, with one hand casually resting on the table. His gaze was serious, and his aura was commanding. He suddenly approached her, which startled her. โ€œSo, as my wife, you need to pay attention to me. Ponder if you and I are from the same world.โ€

Meryl held the glass in both hands and raised her eyes to meet Chandlerโ€™s.
