Chapter 92 Caught in the Act

Once Meryl got back to her desk in the afternoon, she saw an email from the company mailbox about an annual meeting next month.

What should have been a happy occasion was met with an unusually gloomy atmosphere in the CEOโ€™s office suite.

Upon noticing everyoneโ€™s mood was off, Meryl asked in confusion, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

With a sigh, Freya explained, โ€œEvery year at the annual meeting, each department has to send representatives to perform at the annual gala.โ€

Josh nodded and added, โ€œOur department doesnโ€™t have anyone with any talent.โ€

At the mention of that, Freya sighed again, โ€œThere are only a few of us here, just eight people if you count Mr. Aniston and Walter. Unlike other departments with dozens or even hundreds of people, naturally, they have more talent for things like group dances and bands.โ€

Meryl was taken aback. โ€œSo, what did you all perform last year?โ€

Medea groaned. โ€œDonโ€™t even ask. It was so embarrassing.โ€

Freya wished she could disappear as she said, โ€œWe drew lots, and I was the unlucky one. I had to do a poetry reading. It was like a kidโ€™s school performance.โ€

Meryl was left speechless at that.

Freya stuck out her tongue in frustration. โ€œIt was my fault. I made our office look bad!โ€

While they were talking, Medea had already crumpled up some pieces of paper. โ€œCome on. Letโ€™s draw lots again this year.โ€

โ€œWait!โ€ Freya exclaimed before turning to Meryl. โ€œDo you have any special talents?โ€

โ€œMe?โ€ Meryl was stunned.

She then thought, โ€œI can play the cello, butโ€ฆafter that incident, I havenโ€™t touched it.โ€

Just as Meryl was about to speak, Lisha glanced at her and interjected, โ€œNo need to draw lots. Meryl will represent our department and play the cello this year.โ€

Meryl was shocked to hear that and turned to Lisha in surprise, wondering how Lisha knew she could play the cello.

Freyaโ€™s loud voice then echoed through the office, โ€œWow, Meryl, you can play the cello! Thatโ€™s amazing! Looks like we wonโ€™t be last place this year!โ€

Meryl hung her head low, her fingers clenching slightly. โ€œI donโ€™t know how.โ€

Lishaโ€™s expression turned grim. โ€œHow could you not? I clearly saw you playing in the music room that day. This is about our departmentโ€™s honor, and youโ€™re holding back?โ€

Back then, she was outside getting coffee and had seen Meryl walk out of the music room with her own eyes.

As they talked, the door to the office creaked open.

Chandler walked out, with Walter following close behind, holding a briefcase and a laptop, looking like they were preparing to go out on a job.

As they walked away, Merylโ€™s phone suddenly chimed.

Chandler texted: [Iโ€™d love to listen to you play the cello.]

Meryl was startled and wondered, โ€œDid Chandler overhear what we were just talking about?โ€

Near the end of the workday, Lisha placed a stack of documents in front of Meryl and instructed, โ€œTake these to the Marketing Departmentโ€™s manager.โ€

Meryl thought in confusion, โ€œMarketing Departmentโ€™s manager? Isnโ€™t that Dalton?โ€

Josh knew her identity and was well aware of the complicated history between her and Chandler.

Therefore, upon seeing that, Josh quickly offered, โ€œIโ€™m heading down there anyway. I can take them.โ€

Lisha replied, โ€œThey specifically asked for Meryl to deliver these.โ€

Meryl then carried the documents downstairs. When she reached the Marketing Department, she left them at the front desk and was about to leave.

The receptionist immediately said, โ€œMr. Dalton Aniston requested that you deliver them to his office directly.โ€

Meryl knew this was Daltonโ€™s doing and didnโ€™t want to make things difficult for the receptionist.

After she knocked and entered Daltonโ€™s office, she found Lydia sitting on his lap.

The two of them were kissing passionately, completely acting as if Meryl wasnโ€™t even there.

Meryl stood at the door, staring at them for a moment.

As if to provoke her, they started making even louder kissing noises.

Merylโ€™s heels clicked loudly as she walked in and tossed the documents onto the desk. โ€œIs that it? Just making out? Why donโ€™t you two go all the way? I could use a lesson.โ€
