Chapter 107

As soon as Rebecca heard the saleswoman's sarcastic comments, a spark ignited in her eyes. "Who the hell do you think you are to belittle people like that?" she snapped, her sharp voice cutting through the air. Never in her life had she been so blatantly disrespected.

She looked at the store sign, pursed her lips, and immediately called the mall manager. "What the hell is wrong with your mall these days? Is it that the Green family is suddenly unwelcome, or is it that you've hired people without the slightest training?" she asked icily.

The director broke out in a nervous sweat, wiping his forehead as he apologized profusely. "I'm so sorry, Miss Green. The store is new, hiring was hasty, and staff training was inadequate. Don't worry, I'll take care of it immediately."

Moments later, the store manager rushed out, his eyes fixed on Rebecca as if his life depended on it. With a warm, almost desperate smile, he greeted her. "Ah, Miss Green! What an unexpected honorโ€ฆ"

Rebecca cut him off with a sharp, bitter laugh. "Oh, now I'm 'Miss Green'? I wasn't a 'poor nobody' a second ago. In all my years, no one has ever dared insult me to my face. You must be very proud of your training."

The saleswoman's face paled, her confidence crumbling. "Boss," she stammered, "I didn't mean toโ€ฆ" She had completely misjudged the two women, mistaking their simple appearance for insignificance. Now, with her job at stake, she froze in horror.

The director, realizing the situation, frowned and turned angrily to the saleswoman. "Idiot! What we teach you in trainingโ€”you should already know that the customer is always right! You have to treat all customers with respect, no matter who they are. Consider your paycheck for this month gone."

Then, flashing Rebecca a more ingratiating smile, he added, "You realize who you've insulted? This is Miss Green; her family owns this entire shopping center!"

The saleswoman's face crumpled in despair. She knew she had crossed an irreversible line. Trembling, she fell to her knees before Rebecca and Allison, stammering a frantic apology. "Very sorry! It's my fault for neglecting my duties," she whispered, her voice trembling, her eyes wide with panic.

From the side, Francene's cold laughter pierced the air. "The Green family, ah! And let one thing be clear: even if the president himself came here today, it wouldn't change anything! I grabbed the dress first, so it's mine!"

The director, sensing the approaching storm, wiped sweat from his forehead. He couldn't afford to offend Francene, but he knew the consequences of antagonizing Rebecca. Desperate to keep the peace, he stepped forward with a calming smile. "Ladies, please, it's just a dress. There's no need for this to escalate. I am deeply sorry for the confusion caused by my staff's incompetence." He cast a pointed look at the trembling saleswoman. "What are you waiting for?" he barked, pointing to the dress. "Wrap it up for Miss Green!"

But he wasn't done. Turning to Francene with a tight smile, he added hastily, "As for you, Mrs. Johnson, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. As a gesture of goodwill, accept a new bag from our exclusive spring collection. It's made of the finest crocodile skin."

Before Rebecca or Allison could react, Francene exploded. "Who cares about your stupid bag! I said I wanted that dress! You're deaf! Plus, I got there first!"

Caught between the store's first-come, first-served policy and Francene's fury, the manager buckled under the pressure. Francene could flaunt her wealth, but Rebecca was someone he couldn't offend.

Francene's expression darkened with fury. She was used to spending lavishly and crushing opposition with a smile, but being embarrassed like this by two "nobodies" was unthinkable. Seething with rage, she made a call. "Melany, I just got here, and they're already trampling on me. You're seriously going to let this go?"

Melany and Colton, who had been shopping nearby, immediately headed over. Closing her phone, Francene shot a venomous look at Rebecca and Allison. "Wait," she hissed. "My daughter and son-in-law are on their way, and they have more money than you could ever dream of. Mark my words: you are going to regret this!"
