Chapter 211
The moment the MDH Pharmaceutical Research Institute logo appeared, a collective gasp of shock rippled through the crowd. No one expected an MDH doctor.
Floyd offered a courteous smile. "Apologies, but this patient could become violent at any moment. I need to escort him to the psychiatric hospital immediately."
His expert restraint techniques quickly quelled any objections. Nobody wanted a mental breakdown amidst the chaos.
While Floyd arranged Devin's transfer, reporters swarmed Colton and Melany.
"Mr. Stevens," a reporter shouted, "did you instruct someone to frame Ms. Clarke? Was this an attempt to tarnish Charisma Company's reputation due to business competition, allowing Miss Johnson to manipulate events from the shadows? Your company barely escaped one scandal, and now you're embroiled in a defamation dispute. How do you respond to these allegations?"
Melany, who had anonymously tipped off the media to damage Allison's image, was cornered. Her plan had backfired spectacularly.
But Colton ignored the onslaught. Seeing Floyd reminded him of his mother's deteriorating health. The media could wait.
Spotting Floyd turning to leave, Colton grabbed Melany's arm and pushed through the crowd, ignoring the reporters' desperate pleas for a statement. "Sir, please! Just a moment!" one called. This opportunity was too crucial to miss; he might never contact another MDH member.
"You're from MDH Pharmaceuticals, right? I'm Colton Stevens, CEO of the Stevens Group. My mother has a severe neurological condition—intense headaches, constant pain. I was hoping you might help with her treatment. I'll pay whatever it takes."
Floyd remained unfazed. "Not happening."
Colton and Melany's recent attacks on Allison made their request absurd. "I don't treat people with bad character," Floyd said. "For me, that's a sin."
Colton's smile vanished. Floyd's words were clearly mocking. The top doctor had shattered his hopes with a few dismissive words.
Before Colton could explain, Floyd turned and left, his pace quickening.
"Colton, what are we going to do now? I can't believe Allison has so much influence. Even MDH doctors are refusing us because of her," Melany said, frustration evident in her voice. Biting her lip, she continued, her voice sharp, "This isn't right! Your mother is suffering, and just because Allison has some personal vendetta…" Seeing the anger in Colton's eyes, she continued, "She's gone too far. First, she destroys our company's reputation, and now she's preventing your mother from getting the treatment she needs. It's unbelievable!"
Colton's gaze darkened. "I used to think she was kind and gentle, but it was all an act." He exhaled slowly. His last hope lay in the hacker game. He didn't know when it would be operational again, but he refused to believe he couldn't cure his mother without Allison's help.
Meanwhile, in the car, Floyd glanced at the sedated Devin, slumped in the backseat. He addressed the psychiatric hospital doctors with a weary sigh. "This patient has a history of severe violent outbursts. I strongly suggest taking extra legal precautions to ensure staff safety." His measured tone implied forceful restraints.
Floyd's gaze lingered on the unconscious Devin. The earlier scene replayed in his mind, his breath catching. He'd been seconds away from Allison's death. Sending Devin to a psychiatric hospital felt too lenient. He decided to visit the hospital that evening. One injection of irreversible medication would incapacitate Devin for life.
