Chapter 237: Sherman stood dazed, struggling to restore the video. His boss's orders, however, spurred him to action. Retrieving internal surveillance from the Lloyd Mansion would take time. "How about I work on restoring this footage in the meantime?"
Colton's confidence wavered at Kellan and his assistant's certainty. If the evidence was fabricated, he'd lose all credibility. Kellan's entrance amplified the murmurs, especially since he publicly supported Allison. Suddenly, someone displayed a phone video of Kellan speaking to the media outside the Charisma Company building: "I'm pursuing Ms. Clarke, but she hasn't accepted me yet."
Whispers erupted. "What's the connection between Mr. Lloyd and Ms. Clarke? Why is he defending her so fiercely?" "Don't you know? The victim from the recent livestream incident was Ms. Clarke. Their relationship is close. Colton's got a fighter on his hands."
Kellan, known for his volatile temperament and disinterest in romance, was now linked romantically to Allison. Allison remained composed. "There's no need to restore the video. Colton can investigate who was inside. As long as we verify authenticity, I'm not concerned about uncovering the mole." She met Kellan's gaze and subtly shook her head. Keanu had only recently calmed down with medication; discovering his daughter-in-law's alleged financial collusion might trigger a health crisis. Sometimes, ignorance truly was bliss.
Lindy's face paled at the mention of restoring the video. She wanted the matter to quickly subside and approached Allison, reaching for her hand. "I'm sorry. We misunderstood you. Since Mr. Lloyd said that, it can't possibly be you." Allison gently pushed her hand away, causing Lindy's smile to falter.
"Looks like this whole thing is a misunderstanding. Mr. Lloyd has no reason to lie; I trust his judgment. I'll have Colton apologize to you later, Allison." Lindy, wanting to sweep the incident under the rug, slyly glanced at Melany, hoping to use her as a scapegoat. "Some people are probably acting out of jealousy to sow discord between us. You're like a daughter to me, Allison. Don't let today's events get to you." Her tone was sweet but unusually urgent.
Nearby, Rex's secretary chimed in, "Since Mr. Lloyd is willing to help, why not get to the bottom of this? Who knows what's real otherwise?" Lindy's anger flared. That schemer had said that on purpose! Allison frowned, primarily concerned about Keanu's health.
Just then, Keanu slowly stood. His aged eyes seemed to pierce the tension, settling on Allison with regret. He sighed, gently patting her shoulder. "I'm sorry for putting you through this." The birthday festivities were ruined. He recognized restoring the family's reputation was paramount.
"I've long heard that Mr. Lloyd surrounds himself with talented people. I didn't expect even an assistant to possess such skills. If that's the case, please assist me in uncovering the truth. I promise a generous reward," he said politely, essentially suggesting the restored video could be delivered later.
"It's getting late, and everyone seems tired. Let's all head home. I apologize for the spectacle today. Please allow me to extend my apologies." As Keanu stood, others rushed to support him. "Not at all, Mr. Stevens! Today is your birthday. There's no need for apologies." "Yes, and this isn't your fault. Please take care, sir. We'll leave and visit you another day." Those present discreetly departed.
Allison frowned. "Keanu, there's really no need to pursue the truth. As long as you believe me, that's enough." But Keanu shook his head firmly. "I must get to the bottom of this!"
Kellan, realizing Keanu's resolve and that even Allison couldn't hide the truth any longer, sighed and turned to Sherman. "Do as Mr. Stevens said. Restore the video and send it to him."
"Understood," Sherman breathed a sigh of relief. Kellan was a gambler! He could now directly approach the tech department.
Lindy's face paled. "That's not necessary, Mr. Lloyd. I've already said it was a misunderstanding. With your testimony, it's clear that Allison is innocent."
