Chapter 239
Rex turned crimson, his neck veins bulging as he spat out curses, his voice echoing through the room. "You filthy whore! Cheating on me behind my back!" he roared, storming toward Lindy with a raised hand.
Lindy’s attempt to evade his grasp was thwarted when Keanu's cane struck Rex hard, silencing his rage with a resounding thud.
"Enough!" Keanu's steely voice cut through the air. "Stop making a spectacle of yourself!" His eyes blazed with fury. "You sleep around like a dog in heat and dare raise your hand to her in front of everyone?"
Rex froze under Keanu's gaze, which shifted to Lindy with barely concealed disgust. "And you!" Keanu hissed, his voice dripping with contempt. "Set foot in this house again, and I'll make sure you and that son of yours don't get a single cent—not even if I have to burn every last dollar!"
The room fell silent. Family secrets were common, but this public display of infidelity and anger was shocking. Keanu could barely contain his shame. The veins in his temples throbbed as anger overwhelmed him.
"Keanu, please, calm down!" Allison rushed to his side, her face tight with worry. She quickly slipped him a heart pill and began massaging his temples. "It's not worth risking your health over this."
Meanwhile, Colton stared vacantly at the screen, replaying the video. "No it can't be" he muttered, shaking his head. One look at his mother's guilty and livid face confirmed the truth. Despair crushed him, leaving a hollow ache in his chest.
He'd known of his father's infidelities, always turning a blind eye, believing he would one day prove himself worthy of the Stevens legacy and determined not to let his mother down. Now, with both his parents' affairs exposed, his sense of self was shattered.
Keanu took a deep breath, his pulse steadying, though fury still simmered beneath his stern exterior. He shook off Allison's touch, his gaze narrowing as it landed on Rex and the secretary huddled beside him.
"And you!" he snapped at Rex. "Whoring around and neglecting your son's upbringing—you've turned a bright boy into a complete idiot!" Colton stiffened at the harsh words. His grandfather, who had once praised his talents, now looked at him with unbridled disappointment.
Rex lowered his head, his face ashen. "Dad I was wrong," he murmured, avoiding Keanu's gaze. The video's authenticity was irrelevant; Colton had humiliated the family at his grandfather's birthday banquet—an unforgivable act.
Keanu's knuckles tightened around his cane. With a swift motion, he struck Rex again. "And this is for the absurdity of giving up control of the company to Colton while you're still alive! He's far too inexperienced and lacks competent allies. How do you expect him to handle the weight of the entire Stevens Group?"
Colton's mouth fell open. His father had abandoned the company years ago, leaving it to him with little resistance. But his grandfather's words hinted at a power struggle. Keanu, still the true patriarch, held sixty percent of the company's shares. Even Rex wouldn't dare oppose him.
Allison's brow furrowed with concern as she observed Keanu's unyielding stance. Despite his gruffness, he had always doted on his grandchildren, especially Colton. Now, that care was gone.
"You two," Keanu growled, his gaze sweeping over Rex and Lindy. "I'm not getting any younger. I only want to see my grandchildren carry on the Stevens legacy. But if neither of you can give me a competent heir, then" He turned his piercing gaze to Colton. "Even an illegitimate child with the right talents will be acknowledged as part of the family and considered."
The silence that followed was deafening. Melanie's face went white as she knocked over a porcelain vase, the sharp sound jolting everyone. She'd been enjoying Lindy's disgrace, believing it would solidify her control. But Keanu's suggestion threatened everything. Colton's position could be challenged by an outsider!
Lindy stumbled forward, panic flashing across her face. "Keanu, how could you say that? Colton's your only"
