Listen to this chapter:

"At least I had a wonderful night with him," Allison commented, a sarcastic smile playing on her lips. "Unlike some others, I wasn't so unattractive and disgusting that even their beloved found them repulsive."

โ€œYou could have at least informed us of your wedding date,โ€ he continued, his voice dripping with disdain. โ€œAfter all, itโ€™s such an unlucky dayโ€”hardly ideal for venturing out.โ€

Melany was furious; even Colton was shocked by Allison's behavior.

"Wow, Allison! You've outdone yourself these past three years!" Colton shouted.

Kellan, who had been idly playing with a cat, looked contemplatively at Allison. He frowned, remembering the woman from that night who had treated him like a gigolo.

Melany, struggling to control her anger, forced a tight smile; her nails nearly drew blood. "I didn't know you had so little regard for propriety. To speak of such matters so openly is unseemly. Those who don't know you well might think you're the kind of woman who flits from one man to another. If you ever wish to find a good man"

Melany watched Kellan closely, noticing a shadow of contemplation on his face. "Those fussy elites still disdain such behavior, Allison. You might want to tone down your 'freedom' to avoid offending them."

"You mean those stubborn old men?" Allison replied defiantly. Kellan burst out laughing.

"A woman's virtue is not measured by her so-called chastity," he said coldly. "What matters is her character. People like you, who constantly cause trouble, should have their tongues cut outโ€”a lesson learned."

Allison was surprised by Kellan's harsh reaction, though his unwavering principles were evident.

Kellan glanced at Colton with nonchalant indifference. "What do you think, Mr. Stevens?" The formal address was dripping with the same cutting sarcasm as Allison's earlier comments.

Both Colton and Melany, intimidated by the blatant threat, were too frightened to respond. As they walked away, seething silently, a cold breeze swept across their necks.

Melany's eyes widened as she saw a knife embedded in the door, inches from her head. Colton felt a sudden chill on his face; he touched it and found fresh blood.

โ€œYouโ€™re bleeding!โ€ Melany shrieked, noticing her hair blowing in the breeze. In stunned disbelief, she realized her long hair had been shaved.

โ€œAh!โ€ Melanyโ€™s screams pierced the air. Clang! Allison dropped her tools. Melany, weak and shaking, recoiled in terror as Allison approached.

"Can't we fix this? This is deliberate damage!" Melany protested.

Allison, impassive, casually removed the knife from the door. "I'm sorry, the incessant barking was getting on my nerves, so I threw this to scare the dogs," she said, waving the knife without apology. "Use any more foul language, and I'll aim for your heads."

โ€œYouโ€™re crazy!โ€ Colton fumed, his face flushed with rage.

Before he could finish, Allison slammed the door shut, barely missing his nose. He closed the door and wiped his hands as if they were soiled.

"Finally, some peace," he murmured with a sigh of satisfaction.
