Chapter 15: Who Is This Damn Rich Man?

Once, a woman like her sat on a wall, watching the moon and eating oranges. Her legs, white and tender, swayed in the moonlight like a child who'd stolen peaches.

Lost in thought, Kelvin turned to see Cheyenne reaching for an orange Omari had peeled. Her hand lightly brushed his fingertips, softening his gaze. He gently brushed her hair from her shoulder.

Kelvin noticed a small vermilion mole on her shoulder. His heart skipped a beat; it was Cheyenne. Anger surged at the realization she'd been there all along.

Cheyenne, sensing his cold gaze, touched her mask, hoping to remain unrecognized.

"Would you like more?" Omari asked.

"No, thank you," Cheyenne replied curtly.

Their conversation felt oddly flirty. Cheyenne fidgeted, unsure.

"Ladies and gentlemen! The grand finale! Our last treasure—Rejuvenated Herb! It boasts amazing health benefits, strengthening bones and muscles, and promoting longevity! The starting bid is five million dollars!"

Here it comes…

Cheyenne sat up straighter, taking a deep breath. Omari, alert, waited for the first bid.

"Kelvin, this herb…" Abbie grabbed Kelvin's arm excitedly. She'd waited five years for this chance.

He nodded coldly. "Don't worry. I'll get it."

"Six million!"

The crowd erupted. Who is this damn rich man? they wondered. Doesn't he know how hard money is to earn? He'd raised the price by a million instantly!

Determined, Cheyenne bid, "Six and a half million."

Kelvin's gaze turned icy, as if seeing through her.

"Seven and a half million."

"Nine million!"

The herb's market value was only six to seven million. Does the woman in red understand medicine? Nine million is excessive!

Kelvin frowned. How could Cheyenne have nine million after leaving him with nothing? The Lawrence family wouldn't give her that much. Only one possibility remained: a sugar daddy!

Damn it, she'd stooped so low! Anger flared at the thought of another man with her. "Ten million!" he declared.

Cheyenne smirked at his extravagance.

Seeing Cheyenne's silence, Abbie, believing her defeated, gave Kelvin a triumphant glance. "Kelvin…this is expensive. Maybe we should forget it."

But Kelvin couldn't make Abbie wait longer. She was twenty-six, and he couldn't let her wait another five years. "Abbie, I'll get you this herb and cure your illness," he promised.

Abbie's eyes filled with gratitude as they gazed lovingly at each other.

Unable to watch, Cheyenne needed to stop Abbie, but lacked the funds.

Noticing her hesitation, Omari said gently, "Cheyenne, if you need anything, just ask."

"Omari, can you…lend me some money?" Cheyenne finally asked.

Without hesitation, Omari produced a black card. "Take it. You don't have to repay me; I only ask for…your company." He smiled.

Cheyenne pursed her lips. "Then I won't repay you."

"Are you sure? Perhaps I could make you happier than him?" Omari's tender gaze made Cheyenne blush behind her mask.

Kelvin noticed her pink neck and ears. What had the man said? Adulterer and adulteress!

As the auctioneer prepared to strike the gavel, Kelvin shouted, "Twelve million! This is Abbie's life-saving herb! Why are you competing with her, Cheyenne?"

His accusation felt like a winter wind.

Abbie's life-saving herb? Cheyenne only knew it was life-saving for her.

She smiled mockingly. "Excuse me, sir, do I know you?"

"Still pretending?" Kelvin was furious. Less than three days since the divorce, and she was so cold. "This herb is life-saving for both of us. We each rely on our own abilities!"

"Cheyenne, if you want it, I'll do everything to help you, even if it means sacrificing everything," Omari said, hugging her shoulder.

"Thank you…" She thanked him sincerely.

Kelvin's gaze fixed on the hand on her shoulder. Her lack of resistance showed their relationship wasn't ordinary. They'd likely been involved before the divorce.

Abbie, annoyed, felt Cheyenne was a ghost haunting them. Kelvin's gaze had fallen on Cheyenne at least three times. Did he know all along?

Kelvin felt guilty. If not for treating her illness, she wouldn't be in this situation. Curing Abbie had been his sole obsession.

"She just wants to sabotage you, Abbie. Don't be deceived. I'll help you get it."

"Twenty million!" The room fell silent.

Cheyenne smiled coldly. In his eyes, she was always acting with ulterior motives. If so, why show him any mercy?

"Twenty-five million!"

"Cheyenne, must you do this?" The man's face was livid, his gaze icy.
