Chapter 48: You Have a Death Wish?

“This is Cheyenne Lawrence, old Mr. Edwards’ granddaughter,” she said.

“I invited old Mr. Edwards specifically to treat your illness,” Kai replied.

Before Kai could finish, Iker’s mocking voice echoed from the hallway. “The Edwards family? Ha! A family that fell from grace long ago. Old Mr. Edwards has taken up painting. As far as I know, his title as the best doctor is outdated. As for Miss Lawrence, I doubt she can help. I don't want treatment for my legs, so send them away.”

Each sentence ridiculed Layne and Cheyenne with blatant disrespect. He turned his wheelchair around, maneuvering the handles with both hands, to leave.

“Stop!”

A clear voice rang out behind him. Iker assumed it was one of the three women, but he realized they lacked the courage to confront him. Instead, a slender hand pressed down on his wheelchair. He turned to see an exquisitely beautiful face. The woman’s delicate rose scent surprised him.

“Are you looking for trouble?” The man’s icy voice was chilling, demonic.
