Chapter 58: Countless Opportunities Ahead of Young Women

When Cheyenne left Iker's estate, she felt everyone's gaze had changed. They probably thought she had seduced Iker. She felt wrongly accused; it was an accident, but explaining herself seemed impossible.

Luckily, Cheyenne was naturally optimistic. She didn't care what others thought.

The next day, relieved to have no Iker-related duties at the Todd mansion, she slept in, finally silencing her alarm. But less than half an hour later, her phone rang loudly, jarring her awake. It was Kate, with exciting news that banished Cheyenne's drowsiness instantly.

She sat up in bed, a white blanket draped around her, her slender legs intertwined.

"What's the good news?"

"Oh, I'm so excited! It feels like there are pink bubbles everywhere, Cheyenne, listen!"

Cheyenne was speechless. "Stop beating around the bush! Just say it!"

"Jerome's performing downtown tomorrow night!"

He was endorsing the Foley Group's new product with a commercial performance. The news was confirmed, sending Akloit's girls into a frenzy. The concert was sure to be packed.

Cheyenne looked puzzled. Who was Jerome? Since falling in love with Kelvin, she'd lost interest in celebrities.

"I knew you wouldn't know him. Jerome won 'Rising Star' three years ago. They called him 'Fairy.'"

A man called "Fairy"?

"I think I'll skip it." The concert was at one of Kelvin's many Foley Group businesses—the department store. Even though the chances of seeing him were slim, Cheyenne couldn't bring herself to enter his territory.

Kate, sensing Cheyenne's hesitation, used a provocative tactic. "Cheyenne, haven't you moved on from him yet?"

Cheyenne remained silent. Forgetting the man she'd loved for eight years wasn't easy. She hadn't actively sought news about him or his happiness with Abbie; she simply lived her life. She thought she'd forgotten him, but hearing his name rekindled old memories. She still couldn't forget him.

"I don't know," Cheyenne replied.

Kate, excited, raised her voice. "That's exactly why you should go! You're only twenty-one, with your whole life ahead of you. Kelvin was a betrayal!"

"Once you see more outstanding men, you'll realize there are countless opportunities waiting for young women like us!" Kate's words were punctuated by muffled laughter from nearby.

"Countless opportunities waiting for young women like us!" The ambitious words came from the seemingly innocent girl.

A young man in a black jacket at a nearby restaurant couldn't help but laugh. His baseball cap was pulled low, and he glanced at Kate from the corner of his eye. She wore a white sleeveless knee-length dress, showing off slender legs. Her elegant curls were pulled up, accentuating her long neck and soft shoulders. She was undeniably beautiful. But her bold words startled him.

Listening to her praise herself, Jerome smiled amusedly. He hadn't expected a coffee run to lead to a fan encounter.

Kate, sensing the shift in atmosphere, quickly hung up, her cheeks flushed. Turning, she glared at Jerome with stunning, crystal-clear eyes. "What are you laughing at? Laugh again, I dare you!"

She seemed innocent, yet fiercely independent.

Jerome coughed, pulled his cap lower, paid for his coffee, and left.

The Foley Villa

Abbie sat gracefully on a sofa opposite a balding, overweight middle-aged man in a black suit. Taking a sip of tea, he raised an eyebrow.

"It's been three years, little niece. You've become even more beautiful. I hope your condition has improved?"

Abbie had a congenital heart condition, making her more fragile than her peers. Her life had been confined to home, hospital, and school.

"Thank you for your concern, Uncle. My condition has improved considerably." Resting on a small island in Metshire had stabilized her health. Kelvin had sought the best doctors; it wasn't cured, but it was manageable.

Cody sighed. "Since you're back, staying here isn't appropriate. Why don't you come live with me at the Berry mansion?"

Return to the Berry mansion? Abbie hesitated.

The Foley and Berry families founded the company together. While the Foleys held the most shares, Foster Berry also owned a significant portion. A car accident had orphaned Abbie, leaving Mr. Foley feeling guilty, so he'd taken her in at fourteen, with Kelvin then fifteen. He became her nominal brother, but Mr. Foley treated her as an outsider. Abbie never understood his actions. For years, she lived under someone else's roof, and Uncle Cody never mentioned taking her home. His sudden attentiveness seemed suspicious.
