Chapter 79: Sucking Out the Snake Venom

Cheyenne stopped sucking only when the blood turned bright red. Her lips, stained crimson, were surprisingly attractive against her fair skin. Her beauty was breathtaking.

"Okay that's enough," she said.

Wiping the blood from her lips, Cheyenne turned and saw a group of people nearby. Tanner urged Iker forward; worry was etched on Iker's face. His pupils constricted when he saw the blood on Cheyenne's lips.

"Are you injured?" he asked.

"Not seriously. I was bitten by a snake," Cheyenne began, but Iker interrupted, grabbing her hand and pulling her close. He gently wiped the blood from her lips with a white handkerchief, his touch surprisingly tender. His gaze was intense, as if she were his entire world.

Tanner stared, shocked by Iker's unexpected gentleness. He'd followed Iker for over a decade and had never seen this side of him. Kelvin, equally surprised, watched the intimate scene.

"That woman has no sense of propriety," Tanner muttered, referring to Cheyenne sitting close to Iker. He sensed the tension in the air and looked toward Mr. Foley, whose gaze was chilling.

"Th-thank you, Master Iker, but I can manage," Cheyenne said, realizing their closeness. As she stood, her vision blurred, and she fainted.

"Miss Lawrence!" two voices cried out. She glimpsed a familiar face—a flicker of concern in his eyes that seemed like a hallucination. How could he care when he hated her?

"Miss Lawrence!" Iker lunged to catch her, but Kelvin was faster, scooping her into his arms. "Chris, drive to the hospital!" he ordered.

Kai and three women rushed over, seeing the unconscious Cheyenne and a shocked Mr. Foley.

"What happened, Mr. Foley?" Kelvin asked, his gaze sharp.

"A poisonous snake bit me. Miss Lawrence fainted after sucking out the venom," Davon replied, his voice causing the women to gasp and huddle together.

"A snake? Oh my god," Davon exclaimed, remembering seeing Cheyenne earlier.

"Davon! I told you to limit your pets! Keep those things locked up!" Kelvin scolded, though his tone lacked conviction. He snorted. "The Todd family makes me sick."

Davon apologized. "Yes, father. I'll find out how the snake escaped." He added, addressing Mr. Foley and Cheyenne, "I am truly sorry. I will explain."

Thalia calmly said, "The hospital is the priority. Miss Lawrence doesn't look well."

As Kelvin carried Cheyenne away, Iker felt a pang of sadness. He remained silent, clenching his fists, his gaze fixed on the ground. Whether or not Davon released the snake, the target was Iker; Cheyenne was caught in the crossfire. He'd wanted to catch her, but he could barely walk himself. He could only trust Mr. Foley in this dangerous situation.

Only when Kelvin disappeared did Iker look away, glancing at Erica and Davon before a flash of something flickered in his eyes. "Tanner, let's go."

"Yes, Master Iker."

Meanwhile, Kelvin rushed Cheyenne to his car. He saw two people in the distance, exited the car, and opened the door. "Hospital."

Chris sped off without further questions. En route, Cheyenne murmured, "Kelvin, Kelvin You owe me seven years."

Her voice was barely audible. "Kelvin" and "seven years" echoed in his ears. Their marriage had lasted only three years. He thought she was delirious. His face was cold.

Chris glanced at Kelvin; surprisingly, Kelvin placed a hand on Cheyenne's waist. Unconscious, Cheyenne cried and buried her face in his shoulder. She then bit his neck, her breath warm against his skin; a sharp, tingling pain.

Kelvin stiffened. He pulled back her hair. "Cheyenne! Are you awake or pretending?" he roared.

Chris slammed on the brakes, causing a lurch. Cheyenne slid onto Kelvin's lap, her hand landing on a sensitive area. He groaned.

"Cheyenne Lawrence!"
