Chapter 179

Zach wanted to comfort Carmen, but he wasn't very good at comforting others. Besides, he believed words were useless in the face of her biological daughter's death. She could only rely on herself to move on.

Carmen said she didn't want to stay in the hospital anymore and hoped to find a place to stay. Zach had already arranged it for her.

After making arrangements for Carmen, he returned to the company. He still had a lot to deal with.

Carmen was discharged from the hospital after receiving an IV drip. She went to the spacious apartment Zach had arranged. However, her living situation didn't matter; her daughter was gone. The only meaning in her life now was avenging her daughter.

Judy was so irritated by Elvira that she smashed another phone. Her assistant didn't even dare to breathe loudly. Ever since Judy became a shareholder, she had grown increasingly hot-tempered.

The assistant felt Judy was not only hot-tempered but also increasingly ridiculous. It was just a movie, yet she was investing heavily and attracting countless investors. The movie's success would be fine, but failure would doom Willis Group.

The assistant recalled Elvira's calm, confident demeanor. It was clear Elvira was in a difficult position, yet she seemed poised to counterattack and win. The assistant found this terrifying.

“What is Elvira Willis up to? How can she defeat me with those two washed-up actors?” Judy asked, unable to contain herself.

“That's right. Although those two have past successes, they're outdated. I wonder where she got her confidence,” the assistant added, equally puzzled.

“Let's get someone to check if Elvira has signed a contract with another big shot. I wonder if she's using those two lousy actors to fool me,” Judy said, still unable to understand. She didn't realize how nervous and afraid she was, even knowing Elvira was at a disadvantage.

“I've already checked. Elvira hasn't interacted with any other actors. The supporting roles in her drama are all nobodies,” the assistant replied honestly, thinking, “I've checked dozens of times already. What else is there to check?”

Judy frowned even more, leaving the assistant even more confused. They had no idea what Elvira was planning.

How could Elvira compare to Judy, who invested heavily and hired A-list stars, with her low-budget investments and unknown actors?

However, despite knowing the disparity in resources, the assistant couldn't shake the feeling that Elvira would ultimately win.

Judy was especially flustered by this. When she arrived home, Amber, sensing her bad mood, followed her inside and asked what was wrong. Willis Group was Judy's now; she was investing in another movie and should be happy. Amber wondered why she was unhappy again.

“It’s all because of Elvira Willis. That bitch is infuriating,” Judy said, clenching her fists in frustration.

“Did she bully you again? She's really too much,” Amber slammed the table angrily. She had been looking for a chance to get closer to Zach, but her wish hadn’t come true.

Ever since Amber learned Zach was Gilbert Group's CEO, she'd been trying to find a way to replace Elvira with another woman. However, Zach's tight security detail made it impossible. She would never stand by and watch Elvira marry such an outstanding man, or be more successful than her daughter.

“Mum, Elvira is too evil. I wish she would die!” Judy hated Elvira and was panicked. Elvira had taken everything from her, bit by bit, including her beloved man. Judy had Willis Group, but she was truly afraid, even having nightmares about losing it to Elvira.

“Then make her die!” Amber said, unwilling to wait any longer, unable to bear her daughter's suffering.

Judy was puzzled by her mother's intentions, but she also wanted Elvira gone, so she didn't ask. As long as her mother's actions didn't implicate her, it was fine.

After Amber returned to her room, she called Jayden, asking why he hadn't done anything to Elvira.

“What’s the hurry? I’m looking for an opportunity. That woman rarely works overtime, so I haven’t had a chance. If we want to do this, I need the perfect opportunity. I can’t let her escape,” Jayden replied, anxious. Elvira left work on time every day, giving him no chance.

“Our daughter is driven crazy by her. As her father, you can’t just watch her being bullied like this, right?” Amber asked agitatedly.

The door suddenly burst open, startling Amber. Her hand trembled, dropping her phone. Seeing Vincent barge in, she remembered her phone call and felt guilty. She thought, “If Vincent finds out who I was talking to, he'll probably strangle me.”

“Who are you talking to? Your daughter is driven crazy? Her father?” Vincent asked, suspicion in his eyes, having likely overheard parts of the conversation.

“I’m calling one of my best friends. Something happened to her family, and I was just getting anxious. Didn’t you say you had a social gathering tonight? Why are you back so quickly?” Amber pretended to be calm, quickly hanging up.

Jayden, having overheard the conversation, pursed his lips in frustration. He then saw Elvira arriving—it was past quitting time, yet she was at the company.

As Jayden thought about Amber's words, hatred flashed in his eyes. He couldn't wait any longer; he needed to get rid of Elvira immediately. He'd secretly seen his daughter; she looked so much like him. How could he let his beautiful daughter be bullied?

Elvira didn't have to be at the company. Cole had something to do and couldn't leave, but they needed to address this matter, so she came to take a look.

Most employees had already left. Only a few windows were lit, with very few people working late.

Elvira returned to the company, scanned her fingerprints, turned on the lights, and went to her office to deal with a contract.

Jayden had secretly followed Elvira to her company's floor. He knew the building's layout and had prepared the necessary tools, ready to attack Elvira when she was alone at night. Tonight was the perfect chance; he believed he would succeed in killing Elvira to avenge his daughter.
