Chapter 203

He handed over the surveillance footage and purchase receipt to Elvira. Elvira’s phone rang. She picked it up; it was the crazy Rower. Her sharp voice was headache-inducing. Elvira quickly moved the phone away to protect her ears.

“Elvira, you vicious woman! You killed your brother! You’re simply inhumane! I’ll make you pay with your life… for my child!” Rowena screamed.

Elvira was a little speechless. After Rowena’s outburst, Liam snatched the phone and apologized to Elvira. He explained that Rowena had been severely agitated and asked for forgiveness.

“The three of you are at home, right? I have something to tell you,” Elvira said, feeling she should resolve the matter immediately. She wasn’t interested in being a scapegoat.

“We’re at home. What are you talking about?” Liam asked, confused.

“You’ll know when I get there. Don’t let your daughter go out,” Elvira said, as she brought her bodyguards to the Miles family residence.

After Liam hung up, Rowena agitatedly questioned him, “Why didn’t you let me scold her? She killed our child! She’s the murderer!”

“Elvira said she’d be over soon. Let’s see what she has to say,” Liam said, attempting to soothe Rowena’s uncontrolled emotions. The company’s business had recently plummeted, leaving him with little to do. In addition, Rowena was traumatized by the miscarriage, suffering a mental breakdown. As her husband, he could only offer her more support.

No matter how noisy Rowena was, Sandy remained in her room, avoiding the confrontation.

Half an hour later, Elvira arrived at the Miles family residence. After she entered, a servant went to invite Liam and Rowena downstairs. Elvira’s gaze swept across the downstairs servants. There were only two; the one who had purchased the medicine was among them.

When Liam and Rowena heard Elvira had arrived, Rowena rushed out frantically, as if to fight Elvira to the death. Liam couldn’t restrain her and could only follow downstairs.

Once downstairs, Rowena looked around, then dashed into the kitchen and grabbed a knife, intending to kill Elvira. Liam tried to stop her, but she waved him away with the knife.

Elvira simply stared coldly at the enraged woman, remaining motionless. Eventually, the bodyguards intervened, disarming Rowena.

When the servant who had bought the medicine saw the commotion downstairs, she quietly went upstairs to call Sandy. When Sandy heard about the unfolding drama, she excitedly rushed downstairs to watch.

Rowena pointed at Elvira, shouting, “Elvira, why don’t you die? Why did you kill my son? I want you to pay!”

When Sandy came downstairs, the excitement in her eyes was evident. Liam pulled Rowena back and glared at Elvira with displeasure. “Ms. Willis, our family is already in turmoil. Are you here to mock us?”

Liam also blamed Elvira for Rowena’s miscarriage, and his company was on the verge of collapse because of Zach. Naturally, he resented Elvira, even if his wife and daughter were responsible for the situation.

“I haven’t time for a show. I’m here to tell Rowena the truth,” Elvira said. She still didn’t know who had drugged Rowena, but she believed the truth would soon emerge. Elvira looked at the frail Rowena and signaled to her bodyguard to present the evidence.

Rowena refused to look at what Elvira’s bodyguard offered. She raised her hand to strike it away when the bodyguard handed it to Liam instead.

Liam frowned as he examined the documents. After reviewing them, he confirmed Rowena’s miscarriage was due to abortion medication. He was in disbelief. “This… this…”

Sandy arrived at that moment. Her pupils constricted at the evidence, but she quickly composed herself.

“Elvira, what are you doing? Will you not relent until you destroy my family? Why are you so vicious? I would never have given birth to you had I known,” Rowena hissed.

“Even if I had given birth to you, I would have strangled you to death immediately!” The hatred in Rowena’s eyes was palpable.

Rowena’s words might have deeply wounded the former Elvira, but the current Elvira felt only hatred for Rowena and remained unaffected.

“What’s going on? Ms. Willis, explain yourself,” Liam demanded.

Elvira, unconcerned with Liam’s performance, gestured to her bodyguard to explain. She was too weary to engage with the family.

“Ms. Smart’s miscarriage wasn't due to stress but because she took abortion medication. Someone gave her the medication without her knowledge—your servant,” the bodyguard stated, producing a screenshot of the servant at the pharmacy obtaining the medication.

The servant, attempting to escape, was apprehended by the bodyguards.

Liam and Rowena were stunned. Rowena screamed, “It’s impossible, Elvira! Don’t even think about shirking your responsibility!”

“Mrs. Gilbert did nothing wrong. How can she shirk responsibility? Ms. Smart, you need to find out who secretly gave you abortion medication. They wanted you to miscarry unknowingly,” the bodyguard stated coldly.

Rowena looked at Elvira, then at Liam and Sandy. Finally, her gaze fixed on the servant who had bought the abortion medication. She rushed at the servant, slapping her repeatedly while screaming, “Why did you harm my child? Why?”

Liam was also incredulous. He looked at his daughter, Sandy, who avoided his gaze. The realization dawned on him: his daughter had orchestrated this. How else could a servant have dared to harm others?

“Rowena, I’m sorry. I asked her to do it,” Liam confessed, biting his lip and taking the blame for family harmony. He knew Rowena loved him deeply; she would forgive him, but not their daughter. To preserve their family's peace, he had to admit it and find a way to reconcile with Rowena later.

Rowena was speechless, staring at him in shock. After a long moment, she said, “Why… why did you do this? It was our child, the fruit of our love… I’d been looking forward to it for over ten years.”

Elvira nearly retched. Rowena’s a hopeless romantic. She’s fifty, and still calls it the fruit of their love. She’s pathetic.
