Chapter 273

“My mother is Dad’s first wife,” Grace emphasized. The shoppers, all wealthy and seemingly disgusted by Mandy’s theory of first love, whispered amongst themselves. Was there anything more repulsive than the woman who abandoned her lover and then became his homewrecker?

“Speaking of which,” Grace sneered, “you’re as ugly as your mother. Dad must be blind, or he wouldn’t have abandoned my beautiful mother for your ugly one.”

Grace hated her father’s new family; her resentment towards them was the most intense in the Gilbert family. Thus, she felt justified in her harsh words.

“You’re the ugly monster!” Mandy’s face flushed with anger.

“Anyone with eyes can see better than that,” Grace retorted, contempt in her eyes. “But what can one expect from a homewrecker? How dare you call yourself Miss Gilbert? Are you qualified? I suspect my grandparents forbid you from their house because you’re too ugly. Look at your face! You had plastic surgery, didn’t you? It didn’t help at all. I sincerely advise you to stay home, or the kids will be scared.”

Grace pushed back her long hair and turned, appearing even more beautiful.

“You… you… Grace, you… you went too far!” Mandy burst into tears, mortified by the public humiliation. Am I that ugly? Grace is too mean! she thought indignantly. Her friend remained silent; the opponent was the real Miss Gilbert, possessing a sharp tongue capable of silencing anyone. “Mandy, why don’t we go to another shop?” her friend suggested.

“Why? Why should I? She should get out of my way! Grace, you insulted me, and I’ll tell Daddy to teach you a lesson!” Mandy cried, pointing at Grace and issuing a threat. She remembered little Grace’s fear of her father and shuddered at the thought of his wrath.

“Aren’t you afraid he’ll realize his mistake when he sees me? He might start to doubt his choice of an ugly daughter over a beautiful one,” Grace said, raising her eyebrows, her smile bright. Wasn’t it ridiculous that she still feared her unreliable father after all these years?

“You… how outrageous! I am not ugly!” Mandy completely broke down, squatting on the floor and sobbing uncontrollably.

Grace felt speechless. Was Mandy so fragile? Had she regressed all these years? She’d been tougher than this. The only explanation for Mandy's weakness was her sheltered upbringing. In contrast, Grace had always had to fend for herself, without support or love. How ironic!

The salesgirl returned Grace’s bank card. Grace, unwilling to waste any more time or breath on Mandy, took the card, instructed her subordinates to collect her purchases, and left.

“Grace, wait! Go see Daddy with me. Let’s see if he’ll regret his choice,” Mandy, agitated, stood to pursue Grace.

She was stopped by Grace’s subordinate. “Back off!”

Frightened, Mandy forgot to cry. Grace smiled. “I don’t give a damn about his opinion. That kind of scumbag should stay in the trash heap. He’s unqualified to appear in my life.” With that, Grace left elegantly.

Mandy’s face twisted in fury. Her already unremarkable features seemed uglier, and onlookers were amused by her foolish expression.

“What are you… my father is the heir to the Gilbert Group! Go away, or I’ll ask my father to ruin your companies!” Mandy scolded angrily.

“How cocky the child of the homewrecker is! This world is degenerating,” a beautiful woman remarked sarcastically before leaving.

“They share the same father but differ vastly in appearance. No doubt, the scumbag is blind. He can’t see his beautiful wife, and that…thing… is fragrant to him,” another beautiful onlooker commented harshly before walking away.

“You… wait, come back and explain yourselves if you have the guts!” Mandy attempted to confront them but was stopped by her friend.

Embarrassed, Mandy’s friend was eager to leave. She urged Mandy to go home and seek justice from Samuel.

Seeing the wisdom in her friend’s advice, Mandy quickly left the mall and drove to find her father. At the sight of Samuel, she sobbed, recounting Grace’s humiliation. Helen, hearing this, wept with sorrow.

It took Samuel a while to understand the whole story. When Mandy was waiting for him to take action, he asked, “Did you say Grace is back?”

Mandy was speechless. Is that my point? I’m talking about being bullied by Grace! she thought, bursting into tears.

“Samuel, what’s wrong with you? Mandy was bullied! Can’t you do something for her? You only think about Grace. Aren’t you too biased in her favor?” Helen glared at Samuel.

“Come on! I was thinking about the reason for her sudden return. Don’t worry. I’ll get justice for you. I’ll go see her now! I’ll make her apologize to you!” Samuel stood, hurrying away, leaving Mandy and Helen dumbfounded.

“Mom, why do I feel Daddy is more anxious to see that bitch than to get justice for me?” Mandy was angry. Grace is a vixen. Even Daddy is seduced by her, she thought.

“Neither she nor her mother are good people. They only know how to seduce men,” Helen, also angry, added. It was a sore point for her; she had been consistently outshone by Skylar's beauty. Numerous plastic surgeries hadn’t improved her looks.

“Mom, what should I do? Will Daddy not love me anymore?” Mandy cried again.

“Come on, your father has sacrificed so much for you. He must love you more than Grace. He understandably misses that bitch after their long separation. Behave yourself, or you’ll make him hate you,” Helen advised her daughter.

When Grace arrived at the hospital with gifts for Elvira, Elvira was eating after a nap. At the hospital, Elvira did nothing but eat and sleep. Zach felt this would aid her recovery, and Elvira cooperated.

The scene of Zach feeding Elvira was so sweet and harmonious it made onlookers envious.
