Chapter 78
When Elvira emerged from the fitting room and saw Judy and the others, she merely glanced at them indifferently before her gaze settled on Tracy. Tracy observed Elvira’s clothes, withholding her opinion for a moment. She mused, If there are no pearls adorning the front of the gown, it would be quite nice. However, having seen Elvira wear the diamond-studded gown she herself had gifted, Tracy felt this dress was somewhat ordinary, unworthy of Elvira. Therefore, Tracy remained silent. Elvira understood her unspoken assessment, assuming Tracy shared her sentiment. She smiled and regarded her reflection in the mirror.
“Elvira, why is it you? Waiter, is the gown she’s wearing Judy’s size?” Zoey pointed at Elvira, her question laced with ill-mannered disdain.
“Yes, this young lady is a little tall and thin, and that young lady is a little short and stout, so it’s the same size,” the waiter replied honestly.
When Judy heard the waiter’s assessment of herself and Elvira, she bristled with anger. I am short and stout? she thought. I’m simply not as tall as Elvira! If not for the sake of appearances, she would have berated the shop assistant.
“Elvira, do you like this gown too? I’ll give it to you. Zoey, let’s look at other gowns,” Judy said, pulling Zoey along.
“Give it to her? Judy, you’d definitely look prettier in this gown! Calvin, what do you think?” Zoey glared at Elvira, seeking Calvin’s opinion.
Since Elvira had already purchased it, Calvin finally diverted his gaze from Elvira and gently coaxed Judy, “Judy, let’s look at other gowns.”
Elvira was speechless, observing the three of them. I was the one who first chose the gown and tried it on, she thought. I didn’t say I wouldn’t buy it. Judy giving it to me? How does that make sense? Zoey and Calvin, those two idiots, actually think there’s nothing wrong with this!
“Alright. Although I quite like this gown, Elvira, if you like it, I’m willing to give it to you,” Judy said, smiling at Elvira.
Elvira was speechless. I really don’t want to deal with these idiots… she thought.
Zoey seized Judy, who was about to examine other clothes. Zoey lifted her chin slightly and asked, “Has she paid for this gown yet?”
The shop assistant was about to answer when the store manager approached, smiling, “This lady has already paid.”
What a joke! the shop assistant mused. The entire shop belongs to the Gilbert family. As Zach’s wife, why would Elvira need to pay?
“Elvira, you’re really something. To seduce a man, you’ve spent so much money. Won’t your poor working husband abuse you if he finds out? How about this? We’ll pay double the price for your gown! The clothes in the shops downstairs are more suitable for you!” Zoey declared arrogantly.
“No!” Elvira replied firmly, continuing to admire her reflection. She suddenly recalled Zach’s fondness for showering her with kisses, causing her face to flush slightly.
“Elvira, don’t be ungrateful. You’ve always liked to snatch Judy’s things. Now you want to snatch Judy’s gown too! You just can’t bear to see Judy looking better than you! We’ll pay four times the money! Take off your gown!” Zoey continued her haughty and distasteful display.
Elvira turned, offering a faint smile. “No way!”
Chapter 78
“Elvira, I really like this gown. Can I pay six times the money?” Judy had recently been tormented by the selection of gowns, finding none to her liking. Seeing Elvira in this gown, she instantly fell in love with it and was determined to acquire it.
She thought, If I can’t get it, I’ll find a way to destroy it and prevent Elvira from wearing it!
Calvin was disheartened by Judy’s pointed request to Elvira. He said, “Elvira, you can choose any gown here. I’ll pay for all of them. Just give this one to Judy.”
When Zoey heard Calvin’s offer to Elvira, she was green with envy. Her words were cryptic: “Elvira, you’ve got a huge bargain today! Your husband has to work for ten years to afford one outfit here!”
Elvira smiled faintly, flipping her hair. “Alright. Why don’t you pay ten times the money? I’ll sell this gown to you.”
“Ten times! Why don’t you go rob someone? I think you’re crazy!” Zoey exploded in anger.
Elvira shrugged innocently. “It doesn’t matter if you buy it or not. It must cost ten times the money!”
“Alright, I’ll buy it!” To please Judy and to impress Elvira with his wealth, Calvin readily agreed.
“Calvin, you’re so good to me. Thank you.” Seeing Calvin’s agreement, Judy happily kissed his cheek.
“Then please take off your gown and give it to us!” Zoey seethed with jealousy, feeling the money was wasted. However, the prospect of publicly humiliating Elvira thrilled her.
“Pay up first. How much does my gown cost?” Elvira addressed the store manager.
Anna gestured to the store manager, who promptly announced, “The price of this gown is 360 thousand dollars. If this gentleman wants to buy your gown at ten times the price, he will have to pay you 3.6 million dollars!”
This gown was actually a standard high-end gown, priced at 76 thousand dollars. Anna’s gesture conveyed a different instruction to the store manager, an instruction originating from Tracy. Seeing Tracy’s glare, the store manager’s knees weakened. Oh no, she thought, I quoted too low!
“What! 3.6 million dollars! Why don’t you go rob someone!” Zoey exclaimed dramatically.
The store manager, having made a mistake and now incensed, retorted disdainfully, “If you can’t afford it, don’t lie to us! Weren’t you very arrogant just now? Now that you can’t afford it, you’re angry?”
“Who can’t afford it? Who are you looking down on?” Zoey lunged forward, threatening the store manager.
Calvin’s expression soured. He hadn’t anticipated the gown’s high price. At 360 thousand dollars, ten times the cost would be 3.6 million dollars! He had already given Judy 10 million dollars and spent a million customizing a diamond ring for her. This additional 3.6 million would nearly deplete his private funds. Furthermore, giving Elvira money felt like indirectly supporting her impoverished husband, a notion he found distasteful.
Elvira wore a look of disdain. “It doesn’t matter if you can’t afford it. I’ll keep this gown for myself.”
“Who can’t afford it? Elvira, do you think everyone is as poor as you?” Zoey fumed, internally labeling them as arrogant. “Calvin, quickly pay and let her take off her gown in public!”
Judy gazed at Calvin affectionately, yearning for the gown. The gown Elvira had worn previously had captivated her; only by purchasing this one could she find peace of mind.

“I’ll transfer the money to you now. Give me an account,” Calvin conceded, compelled to appease Judy.
