Listen to this chapter:

Damien was at the school for Lucian’s parent meeting. That explained why Lucy had time to take Lucian around all day.

“No,” Celeste responded coolly. “I’m here for other matters.”

“This is the school, and it’s Lucian’s school. What else could you possibly be handling here?” Damien’s gaze darkened slightly. “You’re not secretly doing something behind my back, are you?”

Damien reached out, grabbing her arm firmly. A sharp pain spread across her arm, causing Celeste to furrow her brows in discomfort.

“Let go.” Her voice was icy, her eyes filled with frost.

“What? Is my life supposed to revolve around you and your son? Am I not allowed to have my own personal affairs? Just because I’m at Lucian’s school doesn’t mean I’m only here to deal with his business.”

Damien looked down, meeting her eyes. The coldness in her gaze was something he had never seen before. It was colder than a stranger’s.

Her voice cut through the air as she mustered all her strength to pull her arm free.

When she tried to leave, Damien quickly stepped in front of her, blocking her path. His voice was low and firm. “You still haven’t explained Grandpa’s situation to me.”

Celeste’s steps faltered, and she knew exactly what he was referring to—her medical treatment of Alaric.

“What’s there to explain? I saved your grandfather. If you’re not grateful, that’s one thing. But now you’re questioning me?”

“Celeste, cut the act,” Damien said, his expression stern as he glared at her. “I specifically asked the attending physician, and he said even the experts didn’t dare perform acupuncture that day, but you went ahead and did it. What are you hiding from me?”

“I’m not hiding anything. My medical skills have always been excellent. It’s just that you’ve never bothered to understand them,” Celeste replied flatly, her eyes unwavering.

Every time she looked at his face, memories of the injustices she had suffered and her time in prison resurfaced. The more she looked, the deeper the resentment in her heart grew.

“Do you know someone named Cloudy? Are you her apprentice?”

At the mention of Cloudy, Celeste’s spine stiffened, but her expression remained unchanged. She met his gaze with calm eyes.

“What? Do you have some incurable disease that needs her to diagnose?”

Her retort took Damien by surprise. His brows furrowed deeply as he asked in disbelief, “When have you become so sharp-tongued?”

Celeste had no interest in continuing the conversation. “I’m busy. I don’t have time to chat with you.”

Damien’s anger flared, and his eyes grew even colder.

After taking a couple of steps, Celeste suddenly turned back, glaring at him. “If you have time, then hurry up and sign the divorce papers.”

Before he could respond, Celeste strode off quickly, leaving without a word.

Behind her, she heard Damien’s voice. “Asking me to sign now is just pushing Grandpa to his limit!”

Initially, Celeste had believed that securing a divorce after her release would be straightforward, reasoning that Damien’s lack of affection and her time in prison would simplify matters. However, she had never anticipated that Alaric would present the greatest hurdle. Alaric treated her like his own granddaughter. How could she bring up divorce at such a sensitive time? With this in mind, she could only take things one step at a time.

When she arrived home, she saw Annie carrying a bunch of bags as she entered Aviso Tower.
