Chapter 51
“Of course, you always call Lucy, so why would you ever think of me? All this while, you only come to me when you need something!” Celeste’s voice was icy, her tone low and deliberate. She tried to get up, but Damien suddenly reached out. He gripped her shoulder and pinned her firmly back onto the bed.
He said, “Celeste, all this time, it’s been your own deceitful heart and actions that landed you in prison. If only you had been more straightforward, maybe we wouldn’t have so much to argue about…”
“Really? Are you trying to justify your own wrongdoings by blaming me? And now you think it’s my fault for what happened to you?”
“When have I done anything wrong? Which part of me have you seen doing anything wrong?”
Damien’s hand tightened on her shoulder, his grip sending a chill through the room.
“You really need me to spell it out? Isn’t it already common knowledge?” Celeste scoffed, her mouth sharp. “Or is it because Ms. Vale couldn’t satisfy you that you’re now coming back to your ex-wife?”
“I’m not trying to do anything with you.”
“Then why are you still holding me down?”
Celeste lifted her gaze, meeting his cold, piercing eyes, her lips curling into a frosty smile.
Suddenly, Damien gripped her chin and knelt to her left. He growled, “Don’t forget—you’re still my wife by name. Isn’t it the duty of a wife to satisfy her husband?”
Celeste stared at him, her gaze as cold as ice. “Let go.”
“Why put up such a fight? Are you seeing someone else?”
Damien showed no intention of letting her go, his grip tightening even more. Celeste quickly turned her head away, trying to move her face from his grasp.
Damien moved forward, pinning her hand down on the bed and trapping her there. He used his knee to press her legs into the mattress, and in that instant, Celeste felt an overwhelming sense of unease in her chest.
“Damien, what are you trying to do? Let go of me now!” Her voice rose, panic creeping in.
“What else would I do?” Damien’s voice was low and menacing, carrying through the room and easily reaching the ears of the man standing just outside.
There was only a thin door between them, yet it felt like two entirely different worlds, each with its own tense atmosphere.
Chapter 1
Adrian’s hand instinctively reached for the doorknob. But just before he touched it, his hand froze. Damien and Celeste weren’t divorced yet. So, what right did he have to open that door?
Suddenly, a muffled shout came from inside the bedroom. It wasn’t Celeste’s voice. It was Damien’s.
“Are you a damn dog? Why the hell are you biting me?”
“Get out of the room now, or next time, it won’t just be a bite.”
Just before the door swung open, Adrian swiftly turned and entered his own bedroom.
Through the slightly cracked door, he saw Damien being thrown out of the room by Celeste. Damien was still fully dressed, his eyes focused on the back of his hand.
From Adrian’s vantage point, he could clearly see the deep bite mark on the back of Damien’s hand.
A small smile tugged at the corner of Adrian’s lips. He found the situation growing more interesting by the second.
He shut the door and walked to the bathroom.
