Listen to this chapter:

Just as Celeste was about to respond, a deep voice cut in, saying, “I’m heading to the company. It’s on the way. I can take her.”

Damien spun around and looked at Adrian, who was standing behind him and Celeste. His expression darkened slightly. “I can take a longer route and drop her off. There’s no need to trouble you, Uncle Adrian.”

Before Celeste could say a single word, Damien had already grabbed her wrist again and pulled her toward the car. Adrian couldn’t help but scowl when he saw this.

“Damien, is this how the Wrenford family taught you to treat a woman?” he asked irritably.

At this point, Celeste was already shoved into the car. Damien rested one hand on the door and turned back to look at Adrian calmly. “I’m sorry that you had to see that. However, as husband and wife, we don’t focus too much on customs—it would feel too distant, don’t you think?”

With that, he shut the car door. In the driver’s seat, Jonathan was already slowly pulling the car onto the road. Celeste gazed out the window at the man standing there, but a towering figure blocked her vision. Thus, she had no choice but to look away.

Inside the car, the privacy partition went up. A second later, Damien pulled her closer and asked, “Is Uncle Adrian that good-looking?”

The sudden closeness made Celeste frown slightly. “He’s better-looking than you.”

His smirk faltered, and his hand tightened around her waist.

“Let go of me.” She reached down, trying to pry his fingers off her side.

“When did you and Uncle Adrian get so close? Is it because of the child? How dare you get into his car right in front of me!” His expression darkened.

Celeste chuckled coldly when she heard this. “Do you really not know the relationship between us?”

“Since we haven’t signed the divorce papers, you need to behave like a wife should. Otherwise, people will talk.”

Then, his hand began to move upward. Without hesitation, she raised her hand and threw a slap. Upon seeing this, he flinched and dodged her movement at the last second. Her hand missed his face and landed with a sharp smack across his neck instead.

Even though it was his neck, it still hurt like hell.

“Are you crazy? How dare you hit me!” Damien roared as he covered the red mark on his neck. His eyes instantly went cold and sharp.

“If you touch me again, it won’t just be a slap next time. I told you earlier not to touch me. You were asking for it!” Celeste’s voice was low and angry.

“When did you turn into this person? You used to be very gentle with me and never raised your voice. Now, you dare hit me without thinking!”

Three years in prison had already drained every drop of affection she had for him. Now, all that remained in her heart was bitterness.

“I’m not repeating myself. Instead of wondering why I’ve changed, maybe you should reflect on the things you did.”

“You’re seeing someone else, aren’t you?” he asked solemnly.

“You’re the only one who’s been seeing someone else. I know you’re still holding on to your first love after all this time. Please don’t insult my intelligence by saying that you two are just friends.”

Damien’s expression instantly turned ugly. When he didn’t respond, she ordered, “Have your assistant drop me off at the foot of the hill.”

“You really can’t stand being with me, even for a minute?”

“Yes.” Celeste’s response was clear and firm, with no trace of hesitation.
