Chapter 91

“No! Don’t touch my son again!” Betsy quickly set down her phone and threw herself in front of Zander, crying uncontrollably. “My son is in shock! What if you end up killing him while you’re trying to treat him?”

“Madam, please, stop wasting time! Move aside, quickly!” Rowan darted forward, trying to pull her away. However, Betsy clung to Zander, unwilling to budge.

Celeste’s expression stiffened. “This is really bad. He might really die if you keep delaying!”

Maybe it was Celeste’s intensity, or maybe her commanding presence, but Betsy was intimidated.

“I’ll make sure to explain everything to you once he wakes up. But for now, please don’t stand in the way of us treating him.”

Upon seeing Betsy finally relent, Celeste turned to Rowan. “Get the needles ready, and prepare for bloodletting!”

“Understood.” Rowan quickly barked orders to the men nearby. “You guys, move him inside now!”

The men exchanged hesitant glances. No one moved.

“What are you waiting for? Every second counts! The longer we wait, the more dangerous it is!” Rowan’s voice boomed.

Finally, they scrambled to lift Zander and carry him into the treatment room. The door slammed shut with a loud bang as Rowan shut it behind them, leaving only Celeste and Zander inside.

Outside, the crowd gathered in tight layers, almost blocking the entire corridor. People murmured anxiously, their eyes glued to the treatment room. But none of them knew what was actually happening inside.

Matilda quickly left to call Annie.

Annie’s voice came through over the phone. “Aunt Matilda, did you need something?”

“Annie! Your friend’s clinic is in trouble!”

Annie was stunned, her voice laced with concern. “What happened?”

“I heard that a patient came in for allergy treatment on opening day, and after taking the medicine prescribed by Dr. Morin, he suddenly went into shock today. He’s currently in the treatment room, undergoing emergency care. I heard the situation is critical, and no one knows if they’ll be able to save him.”

Annie’s eyes widened in shock as the gravity of the situation sank in. “Alright. I understand. I’ll head over there right away.”

Just then, a deep voice suddenly reached her ear. “What’s going on?”

She looked up to see Adrian standing beside her. Her brow furrowed in concern as she replied, “Something bad has happened at Celeste’s clinic.”

Adrian’s expression darkened, his aura suddenly turning cold and oppressive. He hadn’t seen Eloise the previous day, so he planned to send her to school that day. But as soon as he reached the door, he saw Annie walking out with the kid. Before he could even speak, her phone rang.

After Annie briefly explained the situation to Adrian, he immediately strode toward the driver’s seat of his car. “You drive Ms. Cooper’s car and take Eloise to school. Afterward, meet me at Celeste’s clinic.”

Joshua quickly got out of the car. “Understood, Mr. Wrenford.”

Annie quickly turned to comfort Eloise, who was beside her. “Eloise, be good and go to school with this man. I have to go take care of something with your godfather.”

Although Eloise was young, she could sense the seriousness of the situation from their brief conversation. She nodded softly, her eyes slightly red. “Okay, Ms. Cooper.”

“I’m sorry to trouble you.” Annie quickly handed her car keys to Joshua. Joshua swiftly took the keys and said, “No problem. Be careful on the road.”
