Chapter 245

Her scream was immediate. I watched with detached amusement as she dropped to the ground, cupping her hand. Her sister turned and crouched down next to her. โ€œWhat the fuck is wrong with you?โ€ she snarled up at me, and I rolled my neck.

โ€œWrong with me?โ€ I dropped down to look her in the eye and let Nix push even closer. My eyes flashed to their golden hue. โ€œNothing.โ€ Nix pushed harder, and her voice joined mine again. โ€œIโ€™m just tired of pathetic alphas trying to dictate how I live, how I behave, and more importantly, who I can talk to.โ€ I felt the blood flow faster as I smiled. The fangs pressed into my lips again, slicing into the freshly healed skin, but I didnโ€™t care.

โ€œYou canโ€™t do this,โ€ Nadine pressed, but I just laughed.

โ€œAre you going to stop me?โ€ I stood and looked at Thinius. โ€œOr are you?โ€ I tilted my head. โ€œI will tell you right now that you wonโ€™t win.โ€ My smile grew bigger. โ€œBut please, try.โ€

Thinius stepped closer to me. โ€œYou shut this table down now, or I will make you.โ€

I turned back to the crowd and noticed a few were staring at us, and I gave them a tired smile. I turned and raised my voice. โ€œThese three here are trying to stop you from applying to become the queen. They want me to close down my table because I work around the councilโ€™s system of rejection and give your applications straight to the king for him to go over and decide for himself.โ€ A gasp went through the crowd, and some pulled out their phones. โ€œThe king himself has stated any applications that go to the council fall under their purview and will be held to their strict standards that they get to decide. But any applications that go to the king will fall under his own standards, and he will make the final call.โ€ I looked at the three behind me. โ€œThese three want to make it impossible for any of us to even be considered as the queen.โ€ I walked to the table and held out my hand. I waited for a tablet to be placed in my hand and I flashed Nina a huge smile, my fangs covered in blood.

โ€œDonโ€™t," she tried to raise her hand, but it was still healing.

โ€œOh, Nina. You stupid fool. You see, I wasnโ€™t going to apply. I had no inkling to assume I would ever even make it into the running to be queen. Iโ€™m rash, angry, hurt, and all I have is my mother. I have nearly zero backing, and sure, I have power, but Iโ€™m sure there are other girls that would make a better queen, but you forced my hand.โ€ I clicked through the application, filling it out as I went.

โ€œStop her,โ€ Nina tried, but I just laughed.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to find a worried Brandon there. โ€œDonโ€™t.โ€ I lifted a brow, and he tried to smile. โ€œI mean, do whatever you want, but I thought maybe we couldโ€ฆโ€

He trailed off, and I softened my eyes. โ€œJust because I apply doesnโ€™t mean Iโ€™ll get chosen. Iโ€™m doing this to make a point, not to become queen.โ€

โ€œMake a point, youโ€™re lying,โ€ Nadine screamed, and I felt my face shift a little. Brandon watched me for a second and then dropped his hand.

โ€œI trust you, Amy.โ€ I closed my eyes as I stared at my mate, the man that was my everything in my last life. Those four words would have saved everything, changed everything. We could have had a family, our pup; we could have grown old together. But he said them too late. And if I was honest, I didnโ€™t think he even meant them now.

I smiled at him. โ€œThank you.โ€ I turned back to the trio. โ€œI hope when the king sees my application, and these videos, he understands why I did this.โ€ Then I lifted my finger and hit send.

โ€œNo!โ€ Nina tried to stop me, but she fell short.

I handed back the tablet to the next woman. โ€œGo ahead. Everyone here deserves the chance.โ€ She smiled as she took the tablet.

โ€œThank you.โ€ She filled out the form but then froze as Thinius threw out his aura. It rushed out like a thick blanket of power, and I watched as everyone dropped to their knees. Even Toya was trembling, holding on by a thread.

I turned around, and I felt the room shift. Thinius was staring at me with sweat beading on his brow. His eyes were shifted to his wolf, a dark chocolate brown, average for a wolf, just like him. I walked closer, and his eyes widened. โ€œOh Thinius, you have to try harder than that.โ€ The smile that broke across my lips was pure Nix, full of her hatred of power, abuse, and killing intent.
