Chapter 384

Shannon shrieked, surprised. Morgan jumped, and Brandon, stupid Brandon, tucked the lock picks down by his side. โ€œIโ€™ll ask you again. What the fuck do you think youโ€™re doing?โ€ This time, I let a snarl leave my mouth.

Brandon stood with Shannon and Morgan at my door. Morgan and Shannon took a step back, realizing the danger, but Brandon took a step closer to me, trying to force my door wider. โ€œWe are here to discuss something with you and your mother.โ€ He tried to be sweet and leaned in to kiss my cheek as, once again, he tried to push past, but I held the door tightly to my side.

I looked over at Morgan and Shannon. โ€œI asked you two to leave for a couple of days. I asked you to give her some space.โ€

โ€œAmyโ€”โ€ Brandon tried to interrupt, but I stepped out of my room, pushing him back with a stumbling step and closing my door.

โ€œWhy are you back here?โ€ I let my face show my anger, my annoyance.

โ€œThis is my house, too.โ€ Morgan tried to stick out his chest. โ€œI shouldnโ€™t have to leave.โ€

I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose. โ€œNo.โ€ He furrowed his brows, obviously confused, but I just said it again. โ€œNo.โ€

Shannon stepped up next to Brandon. โ€œAmy, you and Brandon are my best friends. He just wanted to come talk some sense into your mom.โ€ She looked back at Morgan. โ€œMy dad was in a meeting with Vince. Thatโ€™s why he wasnโ€™t coming home for dinner. And Brandon and I wereโ€ฆbusy.โ€ She barely hid her smirk when she said that.

โ€œNo.โ€ I just shook my head.

โ€œBut heโ€™s your boyfriend and alpha. You have to listen.โ€ She stomped her foot.

I turned to Brandon. โ€œSay whatever you came to say and then leave.โ€ I wasnโ€™t going to entertain this. Not tonight.

โ€œBaby, come on. Itโ€™s a misunderstanding.โ€ He tried to slide past me and wrapped his fingers around my doorknob. โ€œIโ€™m just going to talk to your mother and explain it to her.โ€

I laughed and then put my hand on his chest. โ€œNo.โ€

His eyes widened. โ€œWhat? What do you even mean? You just keep saying no.โ€

I sighed. โ€œAllow me to explain, then.โ€ I pushed him back a few steps away from my door. I first turned to Shannon. โ€œNo, your hands are not going to โ€˜talk some senseโ€™ into my mom. No, your dad wasnโ€™t in a meeting with Vince.โ€ I turned to Morgan, pressing my hands together in almost a prayer, and pointed them at him. โ€œNo, this is not your house. I bought this house when Vince was going to take it back. And no, you do not have every right to stay here, not after what you did to my mother. And once again, I will reiterate that no, you were not with Vince.โ€

โ€œBaby,โ€ Brandon whined.

Then I turned to him. โ€œAnd Brandon, I say this with all the love I have for you in my heartโ€โ€”which was absolutely noneโ€”โ€œthat no, you arenโ€™t going to talk to my mother. No, you arenโ€™t going into my room to explain anything to her. No, it wasnโ€™t a misunderstanding, and yes, you will all be leaving my house now.โ€ I stepped back.

Shannon pouted. โ€œYour mom is making a big deal out of nothing. He was in a meeting with Vince all afternoon. She just happened to call Vince the one time he stepped out to get Rick and quickly meet with him.โ€ She rolled her eyes. โ€œLike we said, it was a big misunderstanding.โ€

โ€œOh, really?โ€ I felt the corners of my lips turn down as I nodded. โ€œThatโ€™s what happened?โ€

Morgan jumped at the chance. โ€œYes!โ€ He nodded as he stepped close. โ€œI swear it.โ€

I widened my eyes. โ€œYou swear it?โ€ I looked around. โ€œAnd what happens if youโ€™re lying?โ€

He furrowed his brow. โ€œWhat? What do you mean?โ€ He stumbled over his words.

โ€œI meant you are swearing what Shannon just said was the truthโ€ฆwhat is the penalty if you are lying?โ€ I made my eyes wide and innocent. โ€œI mean, Iโ€™ll try to convince her, but I want to hear what you will do if she catches you lying.โ€ I heard my motherโ€™s footsteps on the other side of the door. The woman has the timing of a god. She is always where I need her to be.

โ€œI donโ€™t know.โ€ He shook his head. โ€œAnything.โ€

I smiled inwardly. โ€œA divorce.โ€

He reeled back. โ€œWhat?โ€

โ€œI know my mom and I know that if you are lying again, and she knows, she will want a divorce. But you swear you are telling the truth.โ€ I shrugged.

He opened his mouth to say no, I could see it. But Shannon, stupid Shannon, smirked. โ€œDeal.โ€ Morgan whirled on her. โ€œBut if I am telling the truth, then your mom has to agree to move on and have his pups.โ€
