Chapter 384
Shannon shrieked, surprised. Morgan jumped, and Brandon, stupid Brandon, tucked the lock picks down by his side. โIโll ask you again. What the fuck do you think youโre doing?โ This time, I let a snarl leave my mouth.
Brandon stood with Shannon and Morgan at my door. Morgan and Shannon took a step back, realizing the danger, but Brandon took a step closer to me, trying to force my door wider. โWe are here to discuss something with you and your mother.โ He tried to be sweet and leaned in to kiss my cheek as, once again, he tried to push past, but I held the door tightly to my side.
I looked over at Morgan and Shannon. โI asked you two to leave for a couple of days. I asked you to give her some space.โ
โAmyโโ Brandon tried to interrupt, but I stepped out of my room, pushing him back with a stumbling step and closing my door.
โWhy are you back here?โ I let my face show my anger, my annoyance.
โThis is my house, too.โ Morgan tried to stick out his chest. โI shouldnโt have to leave.โ
I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose. โNo.โ He furrowed his brows, obviously confused, but I just said it again. โNo.โ
Shannon stepped up next to Brandon. โAmy, you and Brandon are my best friends. He just wanted to come talk some sense into your mom.โ She looked back at Morgan. โMy dad was in a meeting with Vince. Thatโs why he wasnโt coming home for dinner. And Brandon and I wereโฆbusy.โ She barely hid her smirk when she said that.
โNo.โ I just shook my head.
โBut heโs your boyfriend and alpha. You have to listen.โ She stomped her foot.
I turned to Brandon. โSay whatever you came to say and then leave.โ I wasnโt going to entertain this. Not tonight.
โBaby, come on. Itโs a misunderstanding.โ He tried to slide past me and wrapped his fingers around my doorknob. โIโm just going to talk to your mother and explain it to her.โ
I laughed and then put my hand on his chest. โNo.โ
His eyes widened. โWhat? What do you even mean? You just keep saying no.โ
I sighed. โAllow me to explain, then.โ I pushed him back a few steps away from my door. I first turned to Shannon. โNo, your hands are not going to โtalk some senseโ into my mom. No, your dad wasnโt in a meeting with Vince.โ I turned to Morgan, pressing my hands together in almost a prayer, and pointed them at him. โNo, this is not your house. I bought this house when Vince was going to take it back. And no, you do not have every right to stay here, not after what you did to my mother. And once again, I will reiterate that no, you were not with Vince.โ
โBaby,โ Brandon whined.
Then I turned to him. โAnd Brandon, I say this with all the love I have for you in my heartโโwhich was absolutely noneโโthat no, you arenโt going to talk to my mother. No, you arenโt going into my room to explain anything to her. No, it wasnโt a misunderstanding, and yes, you will all be leaving my house now.โ I stepped back.
Shannon pouted. โYour mom is making a big deal out of nothing. He was in a meeting with Vince all afternoon. She just happened to call Vince the one time he stepped out to get Rick and quickly meet with him.โ She rolled her eyes. โLike we said, it was a big misunderstanding.โ
โOh, really?โ I felt the corners of my lips turn down as I nodded. โThatโs what happened?โ
Morgan jumped at the chance. โYes!โ He nodded as he stepped close. โI swear it.โ
I widened my eyes. โYou swear it?โ I looked around. โAnd what happens if youโre lying?โ
He furrowed his brow. โWhat? What do you mean?โ He stumbled over his words.
โI meant you are swearing what Shannon just said was the truthโฆwhat is the penalty if you are lying?โ I made my eyes wide and innocent. โI mean, Iโll try to convince her, but I want to hear what you will do if she catches you lying.โ I heard my motherโs footsteps on the other side of the door. The woman has the timing of a god. She is always where I need her to be.
โI donโt know.โ He shook his head. โAnything.โ
I smiled inwardly. โA divorce.โ
He reeled back. โWhat?โ
โI know my mom and I know that if you are lying again, and she knows, she will want a divorce. But you swear you are telling the truth.โ I shrugged.
He opened his mouth to say no, I could see it. But Shannon, stupid Shannon, smirked. โDeal.โ Morgan whirled on her. โBut if I am telling the truth, then your mom has to agree to move on and have his pups.โ
