Chapter 388

My mom reeled back and spat next to him on the ground. โ€œI never want to see you again.โ€ Then she spun around and stomped halfway back up the stairs. โ€œRemember, divorce, tomorrow.โ€

Morgan rallied, the fool. โ€œAnd what if I say no?โ€

My mom ran back into the room. Her finger poked straight into his chest. โ€œYou fucking bastard. You swore to the goddess.โ€

โ€œAnd what if I changed my mind?โ€ He smirked. โ€œWhat if I decided I would rather keep you than let you go?โ€

My mom screamed, but it was my quiet words that caught everyoneโ€™s attention. โ€œThen you die.โ€

Everyone froze. A pin could drop, a leaf could blow a block away, and we would all hear it. Shannon chuckled awkwardly. โ€œWhat?โ€

Brandon furrowed his brows. โ€œAmy, you canโ€™t mean that.โ€

But my eyes were focused on Morgan, and only him.

Morgan stepped back a step. โ€œWhat did you say?โ€ He looked at my mom, but she was stepping closer to me. โ€œYou canโ€™t mean that, Amy.โ€

I sighed, as if this was all too much. โ€œYou swore to the goddess, Morgan, in front of witnesses, no less.โ€ I cracked my neck and stood. โ€œYou cheated on my mother for years. You have apparently been abusing her all this time with the power dynamic between the two of you that Shannon and I obviously missed.โ€ I threw her a look, adding her name to make it seem like I didnโ€™t think she was involved. โ€œBut if you refuse to follow the promise you made to her, and the goddess, if you use your power again to torment her any more, then I mean it.โ€

โ€œAmy,โ€ Shannon gasped.

I forced a pained look on my face. โ€œShannon, please understand. If this was your father that was cheated on, if it was flipped and you had to protect him from us, you would do the same.โ€ I turned to Morgan. โ€œI donโ€™t want to hurt you. Please understand that. But for my mother, I will do everything I can to give her what she needs.โ€

โ€œShe needs?โ€ Brandon interrupted. I nodded. โ€œShe doesnโ€™t need to be divorced.โ€

I leveled him with a look. โ€œWho are you to say?โ€ I tilted my head and allowed my anger to enter my eyes. โ€œMy mother left my father the very night he cheated on her. She was covered in blood, losing my brother, and she crawled away and requested a transfer. Once the miscarriage was finished, she was gone before anyone else woke up. If she couldnโ€™t stay one day after that betrayal from her goddess given mate, if she couldnโ€™t forgive my father, who are you to say that she doesnโ€™t need a divorce?โ€ I turned to Morgan. โ€œYou canโ€™t make her stay with you. I wonโ€™t allow it.โ€

โ€œAllow it? Itโ€™s the Alphaโ€™s decision to grant a divorce,โ€ Shannon tossed out.

I nodded. โ€œYouโ€™re right, which is why I didnโ€™t say I would make him divorce her. The Alpha has final decision on divorces, but not challenges.โ€

Chapter 389

Morgan scoffed. โ€œYou canโ€™t challenge me.โ€

I leveled him with a look. โ€œAre you sure?โ€ I tilted my head. โ€œAre you one hundred percent sure that a female canโ€™t challenge you for a position in battle?โ€

Morgan hesitated, but then shook himself. โ€œYes, I am sure.โ€ He shook his head and gave a short laugh. โ€œFemales canโ€™t challenge a male for his position. Rank in pack is based on the male counterparts.โ€

I smirked. โ€œCorrect, a law I think archaic.โ€

Shannon smiled. โ€œSee.โ€

โ€œBut I never said it was going to be a position to challenge. I would call for a Cath Bรกis.โ€

Shannon gasped and staggered back a step. โ€œNo.โ€

Brandon reached for her but then stilled, like he thought better of grabbing her in front of me. โ€œAmy, you canโ€™t be serious about asking for a death battle over this.โ€

My mom came over and kissed me. โ€œItโ€™s not necessary, my love.โ€

I huffed out a sigh. โ€œIโ€™m over this. You have until tomorrow to make your decision. Either you follow your vow and divorce, or you forsake yourself and I request a Cath Bรกis.โ€ I nodded towards the stairs. โ€œMake your choice, or donโ€™t. I donโ€™t honestly care at this point. Iโ€™m tired and I have a guest that I need to send home.โ€ I moved towards the door. โ€œPlease, leave.โ€

I swung the door open and waited. Brandon walked to me first. โ€œBaby.โ€ He tried to grab me, but I pulled away.

โ€œI understand you came here to stand up for Shannon and your fatherโ€™s Beta, but Iโ€™m not dumb enough to believe you were truthful to me.โ€ I looked at him and hurt made my eyes well up with tears. โ€œI honestly donโ€™t even know what to say to you. I just need time.โ€ Brandon sat there, stunned. โ€œPlease, just leave for now.โ€

Shannon ran over and grabbed his hand. โ€œAmy, how can you say that?โ€

โ€œBecause he is supposed to be my mate, and even though we are friends, he chose you over me.โ€ I looked at her dead in the eyes. โ€œThat seems to happen more and more frequently, donโ€™t you think?โ€ A tiny threat entered my voice.

Morgan caught it. I saw him twitch. โ€œFine, we are leaving.โ€ Then he stormed out the door, pushing the others. I slammed the door and locked it with magic.

I turned to my mother. โ€œThey wonโ€™t be coming back here.โ€ My mom sighed.

Then a smile broke across her face. โ€œWas that believable enough?โ€
