Chapter 584

We cleared the tent and ran into Toya. โ€œAre you okay?โ€ I grabbed for her. The cut on her face was healing as I watched, and the worry I had disappeared.

She grinned. โ€œYeah. My family just got back from hunting down some runners. We just came back to check in before we went for another run.โ€ She looked around. โ€œEverything good here?โ€

I shook my head. โ€œIโ€™ll send Nix to you to explain. We are heading back to the pack house.โ€ I sighed and grabbed her arm. โ€œStay safe until we get back.โ€

She tilted her head and nodded. โ€œBe safe.โ€

I smiled at her, then shifted into Nix and started running. โ€œMeganโ€ฆgo tell Toya everything.โ€ She took off before I hit the trees.

Erubus caught up with me, and we ran to the pack house in silence. โ€œWe are heading back to Vinceโ€™s pack, right?โ€

I nodded. โ€œThey have a med building, and Iโ€™m sure they have a huge stock of what we need.โ€ I called over to him. โ€œPlusโ€ฆโ€

โ€œPlus what?โ€

โ€œIt gives me a second to check in on Alannah.โ€ We ran past the pack house, and something I couldnโ€™t put my finger on had my hackles raising.

โ€œWhat the fuck is that?โ€ Rowanโ€™s voice was a soft whisper from his wolfโ€™s mouth as he sidled up next to me.

โ€œNothing good.โ€ I kept running. โ€œBut something we will have to check on later.โ€ I headed straight to the gazebo and shifted back into my human form as I stepped next to the panel. Rowan was right behind me. โ€œLetโ€™s go.โ€

We ran back under the gazebo and up the stairs to the cliff. I ran straight through the front door and up the stairs. โ€œAmy!โ€ I heard Shelly call after me in confusion, but Carlyโ€™s soft voice called after us.

โ€œShe has to save people.โ€

I ran into the room to find Alannah still in labor, drenched in sweat. โ€œYouโ€™ve got this, baby.โ€ Ternen was still there, holding her softly, and my heart lurched. My mom looked up, confused by the sudden interruption.

โ€œWhy are you back?โ€ She sat back. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

โ€œNothing you need to worry about right now. Just take care of everyone here, and I will handle the rest.โ€ I ran past her to the closet, and Rowan followed close behind me.

โ€œSorry, guys,โ€ he tossed out as he ran by, and I almost laughed.

We pushed into my old room, and I continued out. Rowan stopped in the closet for a second, which made me turn back. โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€

He was rustling around in the closet and came out with two duffel bags in his hands. โ€œI figured weโ€™d need something to carry everything.โ€

I nearly smacked myself. โ€œYouโ€™re right.โ€ I smiled as I held out my hand. โ€œLetโ€™s go.โ€ We ran down the stairs of my old home and out the front door intoโ€ฆchaos. People were running around lost. Someone was crying. A child was on the ground with blood on their hands. โ€œWhat the fuck is going on?โ€ I grabbed the child from the ground. โ€œCelia, where is your mom?โ€

The little girl shook her head. โ€œI donโ€™t know. Everyone is going crazy.โ€

Rowan started down the street towards the pack house. โ€œWhy?โ€

Celia sniffled. โ€œThe Alpha and Beta are missing.โ€

We looked at each other, and I winced. โ€œIโ€™ll send out a mind link.โ€ He nodded and headed to the pack house. Oakenfang! All pack members come to the pack house front steps. There will be an announcement. Be there in fifteen minutes.

There was almost a sigh of relief that rippled down the mind link, then a murmur of agreement. Yes, Alpha Amy.

I turned to Rowan. โ€œWe have fifteen minutes.โ€ He nodded. We hit the pack house quickly and found a wolf screaming.

โ€œHas anyone seen my pup?โ€ She was near hysterical.

โ€œMena,โ€ I called out and held up Celia.

โ€œAmy! Thank the goddess.โ€ She ran over. โ€œWhere did you run off to?โ€ She grabbed Celia from me. โ€ Are you okay? Are you hurt?โ€ Celia shook her head. โ€œWhose blood is this?โ€ She turned to me, but I held up my hands.

โ€œI found her outside my house like this.โ€

โ€œI thought Alpha Amy might help daddy.โ€ She wiped at her nose. โ€œEveryone kept screaming at him, and someone punched his nose.โ€ She wiped at her hands. โ€œI ran to find her.โ€

Mena sagged in relief. โ€œYour father is fine, baby girl. Heโ€™s looking for you.โ€ She turned to me. โ€œThank you.โ€

โ€œNo worries. Be here for the announcement.โ€ Then I nodded off to the right. Rowan followed my fast run to the medical building. We ran through the front door, and I started calling out.

โ€œLuke! Anyone here!โ€ I heard footsteps coming down the hall.

โ€œAmy? Whatโ€™s wrong? Whoโ€™s hurt?โ€ Luke jogged around the corner, already looking for an injury.

โ€œNo one here.โ€ I grabbed him. โ€œI need your entire stock of lupine solution.โ€

โ€œWhat, why?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t ask stupid questions, Luke.โ€ Rowan stepped up next to me, and Luke finally noticed him.

โ€œRowan!โ€ He took a few steps, and they were hugging. โ€œItโ€™s been too long.โ€

Rowan smiled. โ€œYeah, it has been. But listen to my mate. Lupine solution. We can catch up after everything has been settled.โ€ Luke nodded.

โ€œCome on back.โ€ He turned and headed back down the hall. โ€œThis is actually perfect. The pack is in complete disarray, and we could use an alpha to calm people down.โ€

I nodded. โ€œWe have a meeting at the pack house in like ten minutes to address everything.โ€ An idea blossomed in my mind. โ€œActually, after we grab everything, can you come with us?โ€

Luke opened a door and started down rows of supplies. โ€œOf course.โ€ He looked at me for a second. โ€ Why?โ€

I smiled as I started to fill the duffel with the bags he started pulling from the shelf. โ€œI just need your help with something.โ€
