Chapter 602

Evan leaned into Marcus and snapped his teeth. โ€œExactly.โ€ His dead eyes turned murderous. โ€œYou took my pup from me.โ€ His fangs descended. โ€œSo when Garith came to me, to tell me the humans wanted wolves to do experiments on, I made sure Sera was the first to be taken.โ€ Evanโ€™s face settled. โ€œA pup for a pup.โ€

โ€œShe was pregnant!โ€ Marcus howled.

โ€œSo was my sonโ€™s Luna,โ€ Evan snapped back. Before anyone could think, he darted in. Blood arced up, and Marcus let out a garbled cry. Evan dropped the chunk of flesh he had trapped between his fangs.

Marcus pulled his hand back and slammed his shifted claws straight through Evanโ€™s chest. โ€œIf Iโ€™m dyingโ€ฆโ€ He gasped. โ€œSo are you.โ€ He struggled to pull his hand back out, but with a final wrench, Marcus stumbled back against me. He sagged against my body, Evanโ€™s heart still clutched in his hand. Evan looked down at the hole in his chest and chuckled.

He looked over at Theo. โ€œDonโ€™t think that just because we are dying, you get off scot-free. Theo knows everything about the humans.โ€ Evan turned to me, and for the first time since he had come into the office. โ€œWe underestimated you.โ€ He chuckled again, and blood poured from his lips. โ€œI left everything in my safe at home.โ€ He turned to Rowan. โ€œI regret it.โ€ He struggled for a breath and looked back at me. โ€œDo you think she will forgive me?โ€ The two men dropped before I could answer.

Ronnie snorted. โ€œDid he really ask if the Goddess would forgive him as he died?โ€

I shook my head no. โ€œHe wasnโ€™t asking about the Goddess.โ€ I turned to look at my uncle. โ€œHe was asking about his mate.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Ronnie furrowed his brow. โ€œBut we didnโ€™t talk about his mate.โ€ He looked around the room. โ€œDid I miss something?โ€

My father chuckled. โ€œIf you rebelled against the King, and because of it, your only pup was murdered in an attack orchestrated by said rebellionโ€ฆwouldnโ€™t you worry about what your mate would say when you saw her in the afterlife?โ€

Ronnie thought for a second before he winced. โ€œTina would kill me.โ€ He paused. โ€œAgain.โ€

My dad just nodded before turning back to the two men left in the room. โ€œTheoโ€ฆ I think I have a lot of questions for you.โ€ My dadโ€™s smile was terrifying.

Theo growled. โ€œYou canโ€™t do anything to us. We have guards.โ€ He smirked as he tried to mind-link them.

Yarrow backed away from everyone. โ€œGuards!โ€ He screamed, and I covered my ears. โ€œGuards!โ€

I turned to Rowan. โ€œYou took advice from these men?โ€ My voice was laced with confusion and judgment. Rowan just snorted a chuckle.

โ€œThey came off smarter when I was younger,โ€ he defended himself, and it was my time to chuckle.

โ€œSure they did.โ€ I turned back to Yarrow. โ€œThe room is sealed, remember? Dumbass. No sound in, no sound out.โ€ I shook my head. Theo stared at the door expectantly. โ€œYou can stare at the door all you want; no one is coming.โ€

Theoโ€™s head snapped towards me. โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

I grinned. โ€œDid you not wonder why I was more than happy to seal the room?โ€ I tilted my head. โ€œOr why you have had no one mind-linked you about how the extermination was going?โ€

Theo stilled. โ€œWe told them only to mind-link us if it was necessary.โ€

I nodded. โ€œBut radio silence for this long?โ€ I raised my eyebrows. โ€œOr is it more likely that your plan failed?โ€

Yarrow screamed again. โ€œGuards!โ€ His back hit the wall, and he slid to the door, trying the handle.

โ€œThat wonโ€™t work either.โ€ I scratched behind my ear.

โ€œWhat did you do?โ€ Yarrow kept trying the knob. โ€œTurn off whatever soundproofing system you are using.โ€

My dad looked at me. โ€œSoundproofing system?โ€

I smiled as I walked back to the desk and opened the top drawer, pulling out the useless fake control panel. โ€œThis?โ€ Yarrow and Theo both froze.

โ€œWe saw you press the buttons,โ€ Theo shook his head.

โ€œYou saw me press this useless thing.โ€ I nodded. โ€œBut you missed the whispered spell.โ€ I turned back to the two men with a bright smile. โ€œDid you think the twins and Verity were the only ones with magic?โ€ I laughed. โ€œCome nowโ€ฆ you canโ€™t be this old and that foolish.โ€ I waved a hand, and a ball of light shone in my palm.

โ€œYou are a witchling,โ€ Theo whispered in horror.

โ€œSo is he.โ€ I nodded to my dad. The two men choked on whatever they were going to say. My dad formed his own ball of light. โ€œDid you ever wonder why he was always protected?โ€

Theo and Yarrow looked at each other. Yarrow was the first to ask the question. โ€œOur guards?โ€ I waved a hand, dropping the sound shield and the mind-link block. The screams that ricocheted around the room had the two of them dropping to their knees. โ€œNo!โ€

I nodded. โ€œYour plan to kill us and sever our karmic bonds with our wolves โ€“ well, obviously thatโ€™s no longer happening.โ€ I grinned. โ€œRowanโ€™s Elite guard and our pack took care of your guards.โ€

โ€œAnd we took the spear back.โ€ He grinned as he pulled it from his back pocket. He turned to my dad. โ€œThank you for hiding it.โ€

My dad waved him off. โ€œIt was easy.โ€ My dad stood. โ€œBut before you use it on these two, I think we have a lot of unanswered questions to figure out.โ€

โ€œYou canโ€™t use it on us!โ€ Theo screamed.

Rowan just walked over to him and used the tip to raise Theoโ€™s head. โ€œYou brought the spear here to kill my mate and sever her bonds with her wolves. I can do whatever I fucking want with you.โ€
