On a lounge chair on the balcony, a man lay lazily, a book in his hand. The setting sun illuminated Olivier's profile, warming his handsome features. Gwenda found herself unconsciously staring at him.
She didn't even notice when Olivier rose and approached, having noticed her himself.
"You're awake," he said, his voice low.
Gwenda stared dazedly. Her brain felt like it was rebooting.
"Your hair's all messed up," Olivier said, his large hand ruffling her lovely, unkempt hair. His low voice held a hint of indulgence as he asked, "Are you hungry?"
The warm touch startled Gwenda. She spun around, panicked. "I—I just need a drink," she stammered, dashing into the kitchen.
Olivier, unprepared for her reaction, chuckled and followed.
In the kitchen, Gwenda gulped down two large glasses of water before calming herself, though her face remained flushed. She put down the glass and turned, bumping into Olivier's broad chest. Her heart pounded.
Stepping back, she leaned against the counter. Olivier was staring at her.
"Whatwhat are you doing?" she stammered, nervous.
Olivier reached out; she quickly shut her eyes in fear. Chuckling, he moved around her and opened the refrigerator. "The housekeeper made some food this afternoon. I'll warm it up for you."
"Oh, is that so" Gwenda breathed a sigh of relief, though a touch disappointed.
Catching the subtle shift in her expression, Olivier teased, "Or what? What did you think I was going to do?"
"N-nothing," she mumbled, her face red. She took the food. "I'll heat it up myself. You can wait outside."
"Alright," he replied, leaving her alone. Gwenda touched her burning cheeks, sighing with relief at the newfound space.
During dinner, Gwenda struggled to concentrate, stealing glances at Olivier. Her mind raced. Was he really going to live here? Would we spend every day like this? she wondered, biting her lip. This was her first time living with a man she barely knew. The feeling was indescribable.
When Gwenda glanced at him for the nth time, Olivier met her gaze, a charming smile on his face.
Gwenda quickly looked away. "I I'm looking at the clock behind you," she stammered.
"Oh, what time is it?" The smile remained.
"Eight o'clock" Gwenda began, her eyes drifting to the clock. It was seven.
Olivier chuckled. Gwenda's face burned. This infuriating man! she thought, flustered.
Ignoring him, she retreated to her room and began making plans. While browsing KG Entertainment's website, she saw a familiar name—Cecilia Kelly. In her previous life, Cecilia had signed a ten-year contract with the company but had a lackluster career. After terminating the contract, she'd become a top-tier singer on short-video platforms. Now, this undiscovered talent was waiting. If Gwenda acted first
Her mind racing, Gwenda researched Cecilia. A loud noise from the next room startled her, pulling her back to reality. She rushed out. ☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
