Listen to this chapter:

In the living room, Gwenda sat beside August; Suzanne and Piper sat on the sofa. When the Wrights entered, they were startled by the scene. Quickly regaining their composure, they approached the group.

Morgan Wright, the family patriarch, addressed Suzanne respectfully. "Madam, I apologize for missing your 80th birthday banquet due to a last-minute company emergency. I also apologize for my son's earlier behavior in your garden. I hope you will be magnanimous and forgive him."

Suzanne chuckled. "That's very kind, but you should apologize to Piper, not me."

"Oh, yes, indeed," Morgan replied, turning to Piper with the same respectful demeanor. "Mrs. Kinney, I apologize. I haven't disciplined my son sufficiently, given his actions today." He then gestured to Naomi.

Understanding, Naomi stepped forward. "I am deeply sorry, Mrs. Kinney. I was wrong not to investigate thoroughly. I apologize on behalf of my son."

"Oh, please, I hardly deserve your apology!" Piper retorted, clearly unhappy and dismissive. "You repeatedly claimed I wronged your son. What's the point of apologizing now? I don't accept it!"

"Yes, I was wrong. You're right, Mrs. Kinney," Naomi conceded, a slightly unpleasant smile appearing on her face. "However, nothing serious happened to your grandson, did it? Our families have business ties; there's no need to make a fuss over such a small matter."

Piper leapt to her feet. "A small matter? You're saying my grandson's life is a small matter?"

Naomi paled, realizing her mistake. Morgan glared at her to silence her, then forced a smile. "Please calm down, Mrs. Kinney. Naomi isn't thinking clearly. I hope you can overlook this."

"Don't patronize me!" Piper snapped. "You're insincere and dismiss this as trivial! Fine! Since my grandson is so insignificant, let's sever all ties. Forget our business connections! I don't care. I'll have my son cut off contact with you."

Morgan grew anxious. "Mrs. Kinney, please calm down. We can resolve this. There's no need to escalate."

"There's nothing left to discuss. Get out."

Piper, known for her directness, refused further pleasantries. Morgan continued to apologize, offering compensation.

"I don't want compensation! Get out of my sight!" Piper shouted, her rage erupting.

Morgan, unaccustomed to such rebuke, reached his limit. "Mrs. Kinney, I suggest you calm down. A falling out would harm us both."

"Are you threatening me?" Piper gritted her teeth.

Morgan smirked slightly. "No, I'm reminding you we've offered a solution. A falling out would severely impact our businesses, causing more harm than good."

"You you" Piper sputtered, shaking with rage. "You're vile!"

Morgan remained composed, his eyebrow raised. Gwenda snorted and muttered, "Vile rat!" August glanced at her.

Gwenda, her tone dripping with sarcasm, said, "I wondered how a ten-year-old could frame someone after pushing them into a pool. Now I understand: the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!"

Morgan glared at her. Gwenda continued, "You pretend to apologize, but you want to sweep this under the rug. You're not sincere; you even threatened Mrs. Kinney. You're bold-faced, aren't you?"

"Who who are you? Stop talking nonsense!" Morgan hissed.

August, leaning back lazily, spoke in a sinister tone. "She's my cousin, and dear to the Reeds. Anything to add, Mr. Wright?"

The passage is now significantly cleaner, with improved sentence structure, punctuation, and flow. The dialogue is more natural and the overall narrative is more concise and impactful.
