Olivier remained silent. "Alright, alright," Grandma Melanie said. "Every second is precious. I won't waste any more of your time." She hung up.
Olivier heard the busy signal and shook his head wordlessly. He put down the phone, leaned back lazily against the sofa, and gazed down at his arms. A hint of a smile touched his eyes as he recalled the morning's events.
The next day, Gwenda woke with difficulty to her alarm. She had been agitated the previous night and had trouble sleeping. After a struggle, she got out of bed, carefully opened her door, and peeked into the living room. Relieved to find it empty and Olivier still asleep, she sighed.
After her morning routine, Gwenda quietly slipped out, leaving a note. She had something important to do! Based on gossip from her previous life, she knew that Cecilia Kelly often performed on a bridge during the low point of her career—a full-day performance. Gwenda calculated that this low point was happening now.
Early that morning, she went to the bridge near KG Entertainment and waited patiently. At nine o'clock, the streets filled with office workers. Cecilia appeared then, dressed casually with a guitar slung over her back, heading toward the bridge. Gwenda spotted her in the crowd.
This Cecilia differed greatly from the celebrated singer Gwenda remembered. This Cecilia carried a worn guitar and bag, yet her innate stage presence shone through. Gwenda didn't approach immediately; she watched as Cecilia set up her microphone and began to sing.
Her melodious voice filled the bridge. Gwenda listened appreciatively. Occasionally, passersby stopped to watch or applaud, but most hurried past. Cecilia sang, her eyes seeming both empty and focused on a vast audience. Her voice remained heavenly.
Gwenda enjoyed the performance until noon, when Cecilia prepared to leave. Then Gwenda approached.
"Hi," Gwenda greeted with a smile.
Cecilia, packing up, looked up in surprise. "Hi."
"You sing very well," Gwenda complimented.
"Thanks," Cecilia replied, then added thoughtfully, "Thanks for listening all morning."
Gwenda's eyebrows rose. "You saw me?"
"Yeah," Cecilia confirmed. She cherished those who listened attentively.
Gwenda chuckled. "In that case, may I treat you to a meal?"
Cecilia was surprised.
Gwenda smiled warmly. "I truly appreciate your talent, and I think we'd have much to discuss."
She took Cecilia to a nearby restaurant. In a private room, they ordered food. Then Gwenda stated her purpose. "I'm Gwenda Evans, owner of M Studio. I'm here to invite you to join my studio and leave KG Entertainment. What do you think?"
Cecilia was shocked. "Why?"
