Olivier frowned, a bad feeling creeping over him. His phone rang. It was Grandma Melanie. He hesitated before answering. "Grandma," he said.

"When are you coming home?" Melanie's sharp question came immediately.

His eye twitching, Olivier asked, "What's wrong?"

"Do you know I'm going to die?" Melanie said gravely. "I won't see my granddaughter-in-law again! I'll be dead!"

Olivier sighed helplessly. "So, what do you want me to do?"

"Bring her home to meet me! If you can't, trick her into coming. I want to see her!" Melanie's tone brooked no argument.

Olivier pinched his brow tiredly. "Grandma, we'll scare her."

"Then what do you suggest? Can I meet my granddaughter-in-law before I die? How did I raise such a passionless boy? I'm so anxious" Melanie's frustration was palpable; she almost wanted to woo Gwenda herself.

Olivier said nothing.

"I don't care. Two more days. If I don't see her, don't bother coming home!" Melanie issued her ultimatum and hung up.

Staring at the dimming screen, Olivier was speechless. "What the heck was this?"

Otto approached, curious. "Boss, is Madam Melanie mad?"

Glaring, Olivier growled, "Shut it!"

Chuckling, Otto said, "Aw, c'mon, boss. Madam Melanie just wants to see her granddaughter-in-law. Why don't we think of a way to get Miss Evans to come home?"

"Enough. This is none of your business. Get back to work," Olivier dismissed his assistant, returning to his chair. His fingers drummed on the table as his eyes glimmered with thought. He couldn't ignore his grandmother any longer. But how could he convince Gwenda to return willingly?

In a café, Gwenda gazed at Hayden Simmons, a music producer from KG Entertainment, seated opposite her. Silence hung between them as Gwenda stirred her coffee. Finally, she spoke, leaning forward earnestly.

"Mr. Simmons, I know you've been with KG Entertainment for ten years, and may still have feelings for the company. But now isn't the time to be attached. You're aware of your financial situation. Staying at KG Entertainment might prevent you from supporting your daughter. Instead of this path, why not join me? Escape the cage KG Entertainment has put you in. It's a win-win."

She looked at Hayden anxiously. She'd been watching him for a while, planning for a month to bring him to her studio. In her previous life, Hayden was a music genius. He'd become famous through a variety show but was involved in a hit-and-run. Although later cleared, it severely damaged his career. He'd been hidden by KG Entertainment for three years, ever since the incident.

"Miss Evans, can I ask you a question?"

Hayden, nearing forty, wouldn't lie; he was interested. Sequestered by KG Entertainment, he'd hit dead ends, his songs unheard. He had a daughter studying music abroad; Gwenda was right, he wouldn't soon be able to afford her tuition.

"Sure, ask away."

"Why me?"
