Listen to this chapter:

"She was the one who arranged it," Olivier said with a smile.

Gwenda gritted her teeth and snarled. "You're lying! Granny knew about me long ago, so there's no way she would still arrange blind dates for you. Besides, the more I think about it, the more I feel like I've fallen into a trap! You're definitely the one who instructed Otto to call me!"

Olivier's smile widened, but he refused to admit it. Maintaining an air of sincerity, he said, "No, Grandma did arrange the blind date banquet. She thought I wasn't making progress since I'd been courting you for two months without results. So, she arranged it in a fit of anger."

"Really?" Gwenda's tone softened.

"Of course!"

A look of hurt crossed Olivier's face. In an aggrieved tone, he said, "Why do you always think the worst of me?"

Gwenda turned away and mumbled guiltily, "Because of you, you stupid jerk."

"Yeah, it's all my fault," Olivier chuckled affectionately, gently patting her head.

Gwenda's heart raced at his intimacy; a blush warmed her cheeks. Fortunately, the traffic light turned green. Olivier withdrew his hand and resumed driving.

Silence fell again. Gwenda looked at the bright lights outside, a smile unconsciously spreading across her face.

Soon, Olivier's car stopped at Gwenda's apartment building. Before she could leave, he asked, "Did you offend someone recently?"

"What do you mean?" Gwenda asked, confused.

Olivier was frank. "Someone's digging up information about you."

"Me?" Gwenda was stunned. Then, her face darkened as she seemed to remember something.

"But don't worry, I've already taken care of it. I'm sure whoever it was won't get anything on you," Olivier reassured her.

Although Gwenda remained worried, her expression softened slightly. "I see, thanks," she said.

"I don't like empty words. How about something more practical?" Olivier grinned, unfastening his seat belt and leaning toward her.

Gwenda was startled. She hurriedly unbuckled her own seat belt. "I'm going up now. Bye!" She fled, opening the car door and hurrying away.

Olivier stared after her for a moment before laughing. Was he that scary?

Reaching her apartment, Gwenda immediately hired someone to investigate. As she suspected, it was Pauline. Gwenda didn't want a game of cat and mouse. Upon confirming it was Pauline, she called her.

Pauline hadn't expected Gwenda's call. Before she could offer false pleasantries, Gwenda said coldly, "I know you're digging up information on me. I'm warning you, don't play any more tricks. Otherwise, I will make you regret everything you've done!"

Before Pauline could respond, Gwenda hung up. The smile vanished from Pauline's face as the dial tone filled the phone. Her hand tightened on the phone as she quickly dialed another number.

As soon as the call connected, she snarled, "You good-for-nothing! You couldn't even handle such a simple task! Now she knows!"

Kyle Barnes, Pauline's younger brother, was confused, having been yelled at the moment he answered. "What happened? Why are you so angry?"

Pauline held her forehead, taking deep breaths to calm down. Through gritted teeth, she hissed, "Gwenda knows I'm digging up information on her! How the hell did you do your job? Why did she find out?"

"She knows?" Kyle was stunned. He complained, "Pauline, it's not that I wasn't careful. She's too cunning. I've had people investigating her for days, but we found nothing. We couldn't even figure out who's secretly helping her."

"You've been investigating for so long and found nothing?" Pauline frowned.

"Exactly! I don't even know who she's colluding with to hide so well!" Kyle grumbled before asking, "Are we still investigating?"

"Are you crazy? We've been discovered, how can we continue?" Pauline replied irritably.

Kyle laughed nervously. "So, we're just giving up?"

"It's best we don't act rashly until we understand the full extent of Gwenda's power," Pauline said, rubbing her temples. "Let's put this on hold for now."

With that, she hung up irritably, a feral glint flashing in her eyes. It seems I'll have to keep a close eye on Gwenda from now on. I can't let her ruin my plans and destroy years of hard work, Pauline thought grimly.
