After leaving Lina's ward, Cecilia was upset. Noticing her distress, Gwenda stopped and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Lina seems to have a well-thought-out plan," Cecilia said worriedly. "Do we have a chance of winning?"
For the past few months, Cecilia had felt uneasy on stage in the spotlight. It still felt like a dream, and she feared waking up to find everything back to how it was before.
"Don't worry," Gwenda reassured her. "Their plan isn't flawless. Besides, Hattie found out that the guy isn't your fan."
Cecilia's eyes brightened. "Then what should we do?"
Gwenda, eyes on the changing numbers in the elevator, thoughtfully crossed her arms. "We need to let the public know Lina's putting on a show."
"Do you have a solution?" Cecilia asked.
Gwenda smiled smugly. "I didn't, but I do now!"
Paparazzi still swarmed the hospital's main entrance, but Gwenda and Cecilia slipped out the back. Back at the studio, Gwenda immediately mobilized everyone. They formed a group of online ghostwriters with fans and began a counteroffensive. Gwenda also wrote an article outlining the conspiracy and had Laurinda post it on social media. Soon, ghostwriters, using the article's central argument, turned public opinion in Cecilia's favor.
Online comments shifted:
"As an outsider, the article is reasonable. The guy in the video claimed to be a fan, but he could easily be a hater."
"This is too coincidental. It seems like Wood's trying to get attention."
"Cecilia's fans have remained calm, neither servile nor aggressive. They don't seem like the type to do anything rash."
"Lina Wood started this. This whole thing was cooked up to frame Cecilia. What a scheming b*tch!"
"As a Cecilia fan, we live in our own happy bubble and ignore trolls. We wouldn't be enraged enough to fight back."
Following this success, Gwenda had Cecilia's fan club president tweet a clarification: "Regarding the recent attack on Miss Lina Wood at Central Airport, we'd like to state that the man is not a member of Cecilia's fan club and is not a fan. Please stop spreading rumors!"
Public opinion swung decisively against Lina.
Madeleine, however, wasn't easily defeated. Anticipating this, she personally attacked Cecilia on Twitter: "Miss Kelly, we're all in the entertainment industry. I hope you have a conscience. Don't take this bullying too far."
She added another tweet: "If you've made a mistake, own up to it. Don't blame others, or you'll only be scorned."
These tweets ignited another storm.
