Listen to this chapter:

"Because I'm your dad!"

Gwenda snorted disdainfully. "All these years, you've never cared about me. Suddenly, you're acting like my father? Who are you trying to intimidate?"

"What the hell did you just say? Repeat that!" Benson's chest heaved with rage.

"Am I wrong?" Gwenda challenged, staring coldly. "Since Mom died, I've been an outsider. You married Pauline, had Gretchen—you never paid me any attention. Why should I listen to you now?"

"You bastard!" Benson trembled, a vein throbbing in his forehead. "Do you think you can fight me with that pathetic studio?"

"We'll see," Gwenda retorted defiantly.

"This is preposterous!" Benson roared. "How could you be so bewitched by that man? What the f*ck is wrong with you?"

His voice reverberated, making Gwenda's head pound. She wanted the conversation to end.

"Fine. Be a fool. I'm leaving. Don't come crawling to me when he tricks you!" Benson stormed out, slamming the door.

Exhausted, Gwenda slumped onto the sofa, rubbing her forehead.

"Can I come out?" Olivier's voice called from the bedroom.

Startled, Gwenda remembered she wasn't alone. "Yeah."

Olivier entered. Their eyes met, and Gwenda looked down, murmuring, "I'm sorry you heard that."

Olivier walked to her, crouching down and maintaining eye contact as he stroked her hair. "If you're sad, I'll lend you my shoulder."

Gwenda smiled faintly. "I'm okay. Just a headache."

"That's not what I meant," Olivier said, his eyes showing concern.

Gwenda gave a bitter smile. "I'm used to it. He's been like this since I was a child. Gretchen's his only daughter, in his mind. My existence is irrelevant. I've gotten used to it."

She'd never known fatherly love. Benson was a stranger. She wouldn't let him affect her anymore.

"Gwenda" Olivier's warm voice was inviting.

Gwenda saw her reflection in his eyes. "You don't have to let unimportant people affect your mood." He gently cupped her cheek. "They don't care, but I do!"

No one had ever said that. Warmth filled Gwenda's heart, washing away years of pain. Her heartbeat quickened; her eyes welled.

Olivier smiled, then changed the subject. "I found the things I'd used in the guest room! So you were lying to me!"

Gwenda froze, her cheeks burning crimson. "I No That"

"Yeah? What was that?"

This revised version improves grammar, punctuation, and flow. It also removes unnecessary repetition and clarifies the narrative. The expletives are retained as they are part of the character's emotional expression, but could be removed or replaced with milder alternatives depending on the desired level of explicitness.
