Chapter 1211: Shadowlessโ Heaven
A fuzzy sound, like a whisper of "Where is my soul?", confirmed the legend's truth. Fearful of losing his soul, Ye Mo immediately retreated into his Golden Page World. Once inside, he swiftly consumed a Spirit Recovery Pill. Despite being in the cauldron filling state, possessing a significantly stronger spirit sense than cultivators of his level, and even mastering a spirit sense cultivation method, he was still compelled into the Golden Page World. The lack of an exit, clearly an illusionary formation, didn't overly concern him; given time, he believed he could overcome it, however powerful. But the grey mist remained an enigma, resembling, yet distinct from, the mist in the herb valley.
Before Ye Mo could fully recover, Shadowless appeared, agitated. Exasperated, Ye Mo rebuked it, ordering it to remain at his side before deploying a surveillance formation disk. The disk revealed only grey mist and rubbleโno spirit herbs, not even an insect. The mist obscured much, but Ye Mo recognized the Lost Soul Ruins as a massive, high-level illusion formation, insurmountable for ordinary cultivators. Even his mastery of level nine formations would be useless without the Golden Page World; this formation was clearly level nine or higher, capable of bewildering even the most skilled formation grandmaster. Ye Mo sensed something more potent within the grey mist, but its nature eluded him.
At that moment, Shadowless approached again, its tiny eyes displaying a sycophantic gleam. "You want to go out?" Ye Mo asked, puzzled. Shadowless nodded eagerly. Knowing Shadowless's voracious appetite, Ye Mo had an idea. Shadowless, despite its size, possessed an extraordinarily powerful digestive system; perhaps it could consume the mist. Without hesitation, he released Shadowless, prepared to retrieve it instantly if necessary. He feared the mist, but his Purple Eye Soul Sever should buy him a few minutes.
Instantly upon release, Shadowless acted like a vacuum, the white mist forming a grey line drawn into its mouth. The grey mist, as if sentient, dissipated after being consumed. Edible? Ye Mo, without further thought, exited the Golden Page World, simultaneously activating the Purple Eye Soul Sever. The mist thinned; soon, a safe space was carved out. Shadowless, sensing the receding mist, tried to pursue, but Ye Mo swiftly recalled it. Overindulgence would send it into a slumber within the Golden Page World, and he needed its help. Though reluctant, Shadowless returned to Ye Moโs shoulder, occasionally consuming stray mist seeping past the Purple Eye Soul Sever, crawling restlessly.
Ignoring Shadowlessโs displeasure, Ye Mo surveyed his surroundings. A dilapidated ancient city lay before him, the street stretching before him. Broken buildings lined both sides. Walking tens of meters, a detail struck him: the โWhere is my soul?โ whisper had ceased. He hadnโt misheard.
Forgoing further exploration, Ye Mo entered a half-collapsed shop, finding only a pile of bones and two corroded weapons. He then located a more spacious area and searched for the spirit sense marks left by the two Truth Realisation state cultivatorsโthey wouldn't have casually placed those marks. Quickly, his experience pinpointed the two marks, one on each side. He sneered; their tacit agreement to treat him as a defenseless lamb was evident. Though he could have incinerated the marks with his Heaven Flame, he chose instead to remove them, trapping them within a formation before leaving the shop.
Unexpectedly, as he departed, a black figure materialized within. Bodyless, only two faint glimmers, resembling eyes, were visible. It didn't follow Ye Mo but circled his trap formation before entering.
Meanwhile, back at Dragon Teng Palace, Teng Xiong frowned as Ye Mo entered the Golden Page World. The other Truth Realisation state cultivator who had marked Ye Mo mirrored his expression, a desperate look etched on his face. The other guests immediately noted their reaction. They all had witnessed the marking but remained silent. The frowns spoke volumes.
If they possessed greater strength, a level seven pill king like Ye Mo wouldn't have been allowed to escape. Only one or two level seven pill kings existed in the Heartless Sea; Ye Moโs abilities would be a boon to any faction.
"Brother Xiong, is Ye Mo truly a level seven pill king?" asked a mid-stage Truth Realisation cultivator.
Teng Xiong and the cultivator from Yu Tian Island visibly relaxed, their spirit sense marks re-established on Ye Mo. Teng Xiong smiled. "Young people often exaggerate. His cultivation speed is impressive, suggesting pill king potential, but I doubt anyone truly believes he's a level seven."
Another Truth Realisation cultivator spoke, "Even a level four or lower pill king at his age is remarkable. He's friends with my son, so I'd like to invite him to stay."
Yet another chimed in, "Brother Lan previously mentioned marrying his granddaughter to Ye Mo. If Ye Mo is inclined, Dragon Teng Palace might not be his preference."
"Indeed, I favor Ye Mo as well; heโs a fine match for my granddaughter. When he returns with Teng, they can both visit my island," Brother Lan agreed.
Teng Xiong sneered inwardly, Invite Ye Mo to Yu Tian Island? Will he ever leave? Maintaining composure, he smiled, "An excellent suggestion. I have numerous daughters and granddaughters, a point Brother Lan subtly reminded me of."
Brother Lanโs face darkened. Before he could retort, a maid arrived with plates of fresh spirit fruits.
