Chapter 162: Su Jingwen’s Means

Su Jingwen and Xiao Lei quickly awoke to find themselves in a room. Their hands were unbound, but weakness prevented them from standing. Recognizing Wang Peng and Suo Lin seated opposite, Su Jingwen immediately understood they had been drugged. Xiao Lei, more experienced with such situations, reached the same conclusion.

“What do you want?” Xiao Lei asked, ignoring Suo Lin, who had recently been her ideal, but now appeared as nothing more than scum.

Suo Lin had intended to offer an explanation, but their dismissive behavior ruined his mood.

“Wang Peng, you’re despicable,” Su Jingwen said calmly. “Even with this, you think you can escape? Unless you kill me, and even then, you’ll never have peace. Do you think your father’s position will protect you? Dream on.” She knew that if she could threaten Wang Peng, Suo Lin would be insignificant.

Wang Peng’s expression was indifferent. “Jingwen, how have I treated you? When your mother was angry, I ran everywhere for you, even contacting hospitals. But how did you treat me? Heartless doesn’t even begin to cover it. You know your father wanted to introduce us. My father is the organization’s director—important to your father's career. Am I not worthy of you?”

Su Jingwen sneered, remaining silent.

Noticing he was being ignored, Suo Lin spoke. “Jingwen, we haven’t seen each other in years, so I’m sorry to do this. But it’s for your benefit. We’re filming a movie, with the Song Family investing and Young Master Peng advertising. I’m the lead, you’re the female lead. You’ll become famous instantly. Plus, you know Young Master Peng’s family. There’s no downside for you.”

Xiao Lei glared at Suo Lin and coldly said, “Scum.”

Suo Lin’s face paled. “Xiao Lei, don’t get above yourself. You’re just an extra. Since you want to follow Su Jingwen, don’t blame me. Once you’re in this circle, you’ll see I’m doing this for your own good. Young Master Peng will help change your perspective.”

As Suo Lin moved to pull at Xiao Lei’s clothes, Su Jingwen felt disappointment, not in Suo Lin, but in herself for ever having a positive impression of such a man. Was it simply his good looks?

“Stop,” Xiao Lei said, her composure faltering as Suo Lin attempted to tear her clothes.

Suo Lin stopped, smirking. “Xiao Lei, you’re pretty, but I’ve slept with prettier girls. Once you’re in our circle, you’ll see how pathetic your resistance is. I know you think I’m lying, but I won’t explain. Don’t worry, whether it’s your first time or not, I’ll be gentle.”

Su Jingwen coldly stared at Suo Lin, maintaining her calm facade.

“Jingwen…” Xiao Lei’s calmness was feigned, but she couldn’t tell if Su Jingwen was pretending. She’d experienced more than Su Jingwen; there was no reason Su Jingwen shouldn’t be terrified. Xiao Lei thought of her encounter at Flowing Snake, Ye Mo’s appearance, and Wang Qianjun. What was the difference between him and Suo Lin?

Su Jingwen’s calm wasn't entirely genuine; her hand trembled. She wouldn't allow another man into her car, let alone be raped. She clutched a Spirit Cleansing Charm. She didn’t know if it would counteract the sedative, but if it did, she’d unleash a fireball.

Currently, she could only hold the charm, not throw it. Throwing the Fireball Charm now would leave her vulnerable.

“Xiao Lei, grab my hand,” Su Jingwen said. Xiao Lei, nervously eyeing Suo Lin, obeyed.

“Lin,” Su Jingwen said, activating the charm, using her last ounce of strength.

“Charm?” Wang Peng blurted out. Before he could react, the Spirit Cleansing Charm emitted a cool light, enveloping Su Jingwen and Xiao Lei.

“Tie them up,” Wang Peng commanded, but Su Jingwen had already pulled Xiao Lei back, facing them defiantly.

“What happened? Young Master Peng, you said the spray would incapacitate them for 24 hours. How are they recovered? And what was that white light?” Suo Lin stared in shock at Su Jingwen and Xiao Lei. He wasn't scared; they were just two girls. What if they’d regained strength? It was a hotel, not their home.

Wang Peng’s face fell. “It must be charms. She has several. I didn’t think they’d actually work. I forgot she even had them.”

“What?” Suo Lin was astounded. If Wang Peng weren't a high official's son, he would have cursed. Charms? What nonsense?

Even Wang Peng doubted the charms' effectiveness.

“What? Jingwen?” Xiao Lei realized she’d recovered.

Su Jingwen, knowing the charm’s authenticity, held the Fireball Charm. “I’ll explain later.”

Wang Peng eyed Su Jingwen and Xiao Lei, unsure if she had more charms. If she did, he felt threatened. He wished he’d tied them up. He reasoned that the charm’s range was limited; he just needed to keep his distance.

Ignoring Suo Lin, Wang Peng cautiously approached the tea table, grabbing a thermos. He hurled it at Su Jingwen’s head.

If he could incapacitate Su Jingwen before she could use a charm, Xiao Lei wouldn't be a problem.

Suo Lin froze as Wang Peng threw the bottle. Wang Peng had just praised Su Jingwen’s beauty, and now this. A direct hit could seriously injure her.

Su Jingwen glared at Wang Peng and Suo Lin. She would use the Fireball Charm if they approached. She knew its range was limited; she only had one chance. She hadn't expected Wang Peng to suspect she had more charms. The ruthless Wang Peng had grabbed a bottle and thrown it at her. Her heart sank.

She regretted not attacking first. Now, she was on the defensive. The bottle's speed prevented her from using the Fireball Charm.

Bang! The bottle didn't hit Su Jingwen; a light barrier stopped it. It rebounded, striking Wang Peng in the face, knocking him unconscious.

Suo Lin and Xiao Lei were stunned. Su Jingwen reacted. Although she didn’t understand what had happened, she knew this was her chance.

She took the Fireball Charm, stepped forward, and threw it at Suo Lin, saying, “Lin.”

Before Suo Lin could react, he was engulfed in flames. He screamed, rolled on the ground, and passed out like Wang Peng.

The charm Ye Mo sold Su Jingwen was a low-grade fireball. It wouldn’t kill Suo Lin, but it severely burned him. His hair was singed, his face charred, and he convulsed on the ground.

“Jingwen, what was that? What happened?” Xiao Lei reacted, pulling Su Jingwen aside.

“I used a Fireball Charm. Let’s call someone,” Su Jingwen said, looking at the burned Suo Lin. She felt a mixture of fear and satisfaction.

“Charms, it's really charms. Was Cheng Fei right?” Xiao Lei murmured.

“Later. Call someone first,” Su Jingwen said.

“The police?” Xiao Lei asked, regaining her composure.

Su Jingwen shook her head. “No. Wang Peng might have made arrangements. I’ll call Dad.” She dialed her father’s number.

After the call, Su Jingwen saw a dazed Xiao Lei tying up Wang Peng. She thought about the light barrier that had stopped the bottle.
