Chapter 186: Date With Nie Shuangshuang

Translator: Tim Editor: Chrissy

“No need to fight, I’ll let you come with me.” Seeing Han Yan’s fighting stance, he realized he’d underestimated her body techniques.

No matter how strong she was, her movement technique wouldn’t be cumbersome; she might even be helpful. Alternatively, since she was from the hidden sects, he could try to extract information from her. That was his priority.

Han Yan intentionally displayed her abilities, and seeing Ye Mo’s impressed reaction, she allowed herself a smug smile. Ever since Ye Mo killed Ou Tanhu, she felt outmatched by him.

But even so, she believed her movement techniques were superior to everyone’s, even Ye Mo’s.

“Buy a ticket to Xian Mountain and wait for me at the airport tomorrow morning,” Ye Mo said, then quickly left. He needed to find Wen Dong to locate a certain object; only Wen Dong knew its origin. He also planned to visit Flowing Snake to buy things to protect his relatives from Nie Shuangshuang’s attacks.

“He’s conceited,” Han Yan remarked.

“Hmph, I think he’s an arrogant freak, disrespectful of his elders…” Li Xiang sneered.

Han Zaixin waved his hand. “Old Li, control your temper. Do you know why the Song family didn’t dare touch him? Your Li family is a prominent Beijing family; ask Marshal Li. Sometimes, academics aren’t everything.”

Li Xiang stared at Han Zaixin in shock. He’d expected support, but Han Zaixin was siding with Ye Mo. Marshal Li, his older brother, was the most authoritative figure in the Li family.

He hadn’t expected Han Zaixin to suggest he ask his brother. Did his brother view Ye Mo differently? Why would such a young man, abandoned by the Ye family, be noteworthy?

Ye Mo bought many daily necessities. Despite being a Stage 3 Chi Gathering cultivator, his desert experience instilled a healthy fear. He didn’t believe Stage 3 guaranteed safety; Earth-level or even Sky-level masters existed. Even surrounded by desert insects, he could die.

After his shopping, he called Nie Shuangshuang.

Her shy voice, sweet and soothing, even evoked a sense of impulsiveness.

When Ye Mo arrived at Hua University, Nie Shuangshuang waited nervously at the door.

She wore a simple green dress, her wet hair framing her soft face, enhancing her delicate and innocent appearance. Her ample chest drew admiring glances from the students.

As Ye Mo approached, he smelled a faint, natural aroma emanating from her.

Nie Shuangshuang nervously fiddled with her sleeves, seemingly wanting to speak but ultimately remaining silent.

Seeing Ye Mo stand silently, Nie Shuangshuang raised her head, her innocent eyes meeting his. “Brother Ye, you wanted to see me?” she whispered, then lowered her head, clutching her skirt.

Ye Mo sighed; this woman could win an Oscar. She’d be perfect to lure unsuspecting men, yet she was at Hua University. She seemed adept at exploiting men’s weaknesses. Though suspicious, he couldn’t deny a strange attraction.

Without waiting for a reply, she glanced at him, blushing and looking away.

Ye Mo said, “Yes, I wanted to see you. Are you free?”

“Mh, tomorrow’s the weekend…” Nie Shuangshuang trailed off.

Ye Mo sneered; her innocent act was excessive. A weekend meant an entire night together. What girl would say that to someone she'd only met twice? The unsaid implication was far more alluring.

“Let’s go out for a drink. You wanted to drink with Zhuo Yangqing yesterday but couldn’t. I’ll take you,” Ye Mo stated directly. He sensed her frosty demeanor had softened.

He needed to know who Nie Shuangshuang was; Ye Ling would be at Hua University for a couple of months. He had to protect her and determine Nie Shuangshuang’s true nature and the source of that unsettling feeling she evoked. If she threatened Ye Ling, he’d act.

Nie Shuangshuang stared, shocked by his directness, but didn’t refuse. She hesitantly agreed, as if struggling to say no.

Drunk Eye bar was near the university, but they avoided the bar area, choosing a secluded corner.

“What do you want to drink?” Ye Mo asked casually. He preferred avoiding conflict. Though unafraid, he didn’t want unnecessary enemies. He didn’t care about Nie Shuangshuang’s personal life; his purpose was to warn her away from his sister.

Nie Shuangshuang didn’t order, instead asking, “Brother Ye, why did you ask me out? I feel you dislike me, yet here we are.”

In the dim light, she seemed bolder, able to maintain eye contact.

“Since you know I dislike you, why did you come?” Ye Mo asked derisively.

Unfazed, she said weakly, “Because I felt a connection with you the first time I saw you, so…”

“So you like me?” Ye Mo told the waiter to bring beer. He wasn’t there to drink.

Nie Shuangshuang abruptly looked up. “Yes, Brother Ye, I don’t love you, but I have a good impression. It’s a first. So, when you suggested drinks, I came without hesitation. But why are you so cold? I don’t even know your name.”

Ye Mo sneered. “Good impression? If you were still a virgin, maybe. Don’t use that on me.” He’d intended a conversation, but her continued act annoyed him.

“You…” Nie Shuangshuang stood, her pretty face trembling under the light. She gestured at him, then retracted her hand.

After a pause, she continued, “You called me out just to say this? You have no manners! I misjudged you.”

Nie Shuangshuang turned to leave, seemingly angered.

Ye Mo remained seated. If she craved male yang essence, she wouldn’t leave; he cultivated pure yang chi, likely the source of her “good impression.”

However, Nie Shuangshuang walked toward the door, showing no sign of turning back. He frowned, unsure if he’d misjudged her.

He still sensed the opposite-sex attraction from yesterday, plus an unsettling coldness. She wasn't normal.

“Hot chick, come have a drink,” two men entering the bar saw Nie Shuangshuang. One’s eyes lit up; he grabbed her.

Nie Shuangshuang screamed but couldn't escape.

“Let’s go to a private room, it’s better,” the man said, dragging her inside. Many saw it, including bar staff, but nobody intervened.

Nie Shuangshuang looked helplessly at Ye Mo, clearly wanting help. She’d seen his strength; even if he couldn't beat them, she could escape.

Ye Mo, however, continued sipping his beer, seemingly oblivious.

But Ye Mo’s spirit sense detected deep disappointment, not hopelessness, in Nie Shuangshuang’s eyes.

Soon, Nie Shuangshuang was dragged into a private room. The door slammed shut.
