Chapter 189: Between Life and Death
Translator: Tim Editor: Chrissy
As though scared by Ye Moโs ghostly figure, everyone in the car drew their guns. The leader was a strikingly beautiful young woman.
โWen Dongโฆโ Ye Mo felt a pang of guilt. Although Wen Dongโs death wasnโt his fault, she was tortured because she wouldnโt reveal the dataโs location.
Wen Dong slowly opened her eyes, aided by Ye Moโs powerful chi. Seeing Ye Mo, she gasped, whispering, โYe Mo, Iโm sorry, I involved you. North Sand is looking for the model; go! I didnโtโฆโ
These few words exhausted her strength and life force. Her head fell onto Ye Moโs shoulder as she closed her eyes.
Ye Mo felt a profound emptiness. He couldnโt bear the sadness, even though Wen Dongโs death wasnโt his responsibility. Ironically, heโd wanted to retrieve the data from her without considering the consequences for her.
Wen Dong, though a woman, was forthright, generous, and tenacious. He knew she hadnโt used the money for herself, though she hadnโt told him what sheโd done with it.
Ye Mo looked coldly at the four men aiming their guns, then down at Wen Dong. โSister Dong, donโt worry,โ he said. โI swear I will destroy North Sand and burn that data at your grave.โ
โYe Mo!โ Han Yan exclaimed, shocked. Regardless of whether he destroyed North Sand, the country needed the data. Burning it would enrage her grandfather.
Ye Moโs eyes flashed red as he glared at Han Yan. โShut up.โ
Han Yan bristled at his rebuke but, seeing the guns, held back her anger.
Ye Mo turned to the four men. โYouโre North Sand?โ he asked coldly.
โIndeed,โ the young woman replied. Her eyes were cold, yet she possessed a mature air. โYouโre the one who stole our data?โ
โYou hurt Sister Dong?โ Ye Moโs tone was frosty.
โI ordered it,โ the young woman said, her voice colder than Ye Moโs. โBut donโt worry, youโll likely enjoy the same treatment soon. North Sand believes in equality. If you have any morals, hand over the data.โ
Ye Mo didnโt reply. With a few hand movements, a gust of icy wind sliced off the wrists of the woman and two men. Remarkably, little blood flowed.
The wind blade also scored the Range Roverโs door, creating a screeching sound.
Everyone was stunned. Heโd severed their wrists from a distance? No one had seen it, and there was almost no blood.
Han Yanโs mind reeled. Sheโd underestimated Ye Moโs abilities, realizing he was far more powerful than she'd imagined. She forgot his earlier rebuke. She wouldn't dare to fight him if he used that again.
The man whoโd dodged the wind blade quickly recovered. He was clearly the strongest. In a fraction of a second, he fired at Ye Mo.
He felt relief; this man was too strong. If he hadn't acted quickly, he'd be like his partners.
The gunshot was followed by a blur of motion. Then, a cold feeling enveloped his gun hand; his wrists were severed, with minimal blood loss.
Ye Moโs voice cut through the air. โThink you can run after I decided to slice off your hands?โ
He turned to see Ye Mo carrying Wen Dong, staring coldly at him.
The disarmed men stared dumbly. How could someone be so powerful? What had he used?
โGet in the car,โ Ye Mo said coldly.
A short, fierce man yelled, โWhy should I obey you? Kill me if you want; I wonโt flinch!โ
Without looking, Ye Mo launched a fireball.
The short man screamed silently, engulfed in flames, rolling on the ground. Terror and pleading were visible in his eyes, but Ye Mo showed no mercy.
Han Yan shivered, witnessing the fireball. Again, she'd underestimated him. He could summon fireballs at will? This was legendary.
No wonder he'd killed Ou Tanhu. Even multiple Ou Tanhu would be no match for him. Han Yan recalled his vow to burn the data. Before, she'd dismissed it as anger, but now she believed it.
The remaining three, terrified, got in the car without further prompting. Ye Mo immobilized them before saying, โWhat you did to Sister Dong, you will pay for slowly.โ
Han Yan hesitated. โYe Mo, if you give me the data, maybe I can save her.โ
โSave Wen Dong? Do you understand her condition? I can repair her meridians and injuries, but her life force is depleted. You probably think her heart just stopped beating.โ Ye Mo doubted anyone else could restore life force.
Han Yan shook her head. โI donโt know about life force, but my master said a Thousand Year Lotus Seed Heart can save someone who recently diedโฆโ
Ye Mo looked surprised. โYou know about the Thousand Year Lotus Seed Heart? Didnโt your master tell you it only works within an incense stickโs time? If you can find one within half that time, I owe you one.โ
Han Yan shook her head. โNo need. I have one.โ She produced a jade bottle and gave it to Ye Mo. It was indeed a Thousand Year Lotus Seed Heart.
Such a thing existed on Earth? Ye Mo almost forgot about Wen Dong, then snapped back to reality. He carried Wen Dong to a hotel room, instructing Han Yan to watch the North Sand members. The old couple wasnโt there.
If heโd had the seed heart sooner, he could have made a whole bottle of medicine. Now, he could only make a serum. Only he could save her.
Ye Mo had many recovery pills; with the seed heart, Wen Dongโs heart began to beat again.
An hour later, Ye Mo repaired her meridians and injuries. Her breathing stabilized, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
โYou saved her?โ Han Yan, unaware of the seed heartโs true value, was amazed. Sheโd found it unintentionally. Her master had praised her luck, but didnโt know how to use it. Yet, Ye Mo had used it to revive Wen Dong.
Ye Mo nodded. โSister Dong is fine. Iโll keep my promise, but I need to ask where you got this.โ
A Thousand Year Lotus Seed Heart usually came in sets of 36. If Han Yan had one, where were the others? This thing could revive the dead and aid cultivation. If there was news of more, he would drop everything to find them.
