Chapter 197: Which Bracelet is More Precious

Ning Qingxue noticed the youth’s impolite stare and frowned. Su Jingwen noticed and quickly said, “Cousin Weizheng, this is my friend Ning Qingxue. Qingxue, this is my cousin, Weizheng.”
Ning Qingxue nodded. If she didn’t have more questions, she wanted to leave.
“Hello, I’m Xie Weizheng, Jingwen’s cousin. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Weizheng also noticed his impoliteness. He immediately smiled and extended his hand to Ning Qingxue.
He thought Ning Qingxue probably wasn’t from a rich family, judging by her clothes. He was happy to meet a girl as pretty as her.
Ning Qingxue frowned and drank the coffee just handed to her.
Xie Weizheng awkwardly withdrew his hand. He didn’t expect her to be so rude. Since she was Su Jingwen’s friend, she shouldn’t treat him like that.
He maintained a forced smile.
Su Jingwen quickly said, “Cousin, what would you like to drink? I’ll order.”
“Anything. Jingwen, I have a class ball tonight; do you want to go?” Xie Weizheng had come to ask Su Jingwen to the ball. He looked at Ning Qingxue; he thought inviting both would be good.
Su Jingwen knew Ning Qingxue’s personality. She would treat her cousin the same, even if he were the mayor’s son, let alone a student from America. She knew Ning Qingxue ignored Song Shaowen, the young master of one of the five big families, let alone Xie Weizheng.
She ignored Ning Qingxue and said, “I’m not going. I have business tonight.”
“Jingwen, how can you not go? Without you, I’ll have no dance partner! That’s embarrassing. You must help your cousin; you need to go,” Xie Weizheng quickly said.
Su Jingwen shook her head. “Cousin, you know I don’t like to dance. Plus, I’ve never danced with a guy. And you’re so handsome, you’d be scared no one would dance with you, hehe…”
“Jingwen, you used to always be with me, but now you only help me with my company. You even rejected my ball invitation. You’ve changed a lot.” Xie Weizheng sighed.
Su Jingwen laughed. “Cousin, you’re overthinking. I’m still the same. I just don’t like those places, plus, that was when I was younger. I’m older now, so I can’t be like before. I’m happy you’re back to start your company.”
Several times, Ning Qingxue almost left, but she wasn’t finished and it wasn’t suitable to leave yet. She found Xie Weizheng annoying. Even if he wanted to talk to his cousin, couldn’t he wait until she was done? He knew she was with a friend but still came. He was impolite. Little did she know she was also impolite in his eyes.
Xie Weizheng’s cheerful demeanor vanished. He was rejected in a handshake and by his cousin. He was unhappy. Su Jingwen’s words ended the topic. He took out a red box and handed it to Su Jingwen. “Jingwen, I ordered this for you.”
“What’s this?” Su Jingwen looked at the exquisite box.
Xie Weizheng’s smile returned. “You’ll know when you open it.”
Su Jingwen opened the box. It held an exquisite bracelet. The beads were bright and expensive.
“A bracelet?” Su Jingwen repeated.
Xie Weizheng smiled. “Yes. I saw your bracelet looked shabby with only two beads, so I made one for you. You haven’t shopped in a while; wear it.”
Su Jingwen smiled, closed the box, and said, “Cousin Weizheng, thank you for the beautiful bracelet.”
“It’s nothing, as long as you like it. Try it on.” Xie Weizheng saw Ning Qingxue look at the bracelet and stared at her. He smiled, knowing she liked it too. He’d get her one later.
Su Jingwen’s smile was forced. “Cousin, I’m already wearing one. I’ll wear yours later.”
“Jingwen, your bracelet is coarse with only two beads. It doesn’t match your hand. Change it; this one suits you. Try it.” Xie Weizheng picked up the bracelet and offered it to Su Jingwen.
Ning Qingxue saw Su Jingwen’s bracelet also had two beads. Something had happened to her, and she’d used one bead. She was disappointed. If Su Jingwen didn’t want the other two beads, she’d take them. Now, it seemed Su Jingwen had come for the jade beads.
“But cousin, I really like this one; I don’t want to change now.” Su Jingwen found it hard to refuse his enthusiasm.
Xie Weizheng, thinking Su Jingwen was embarrassed, finally understood. Su Jingwen really didn’t want to change. His face turned awkward.
Su Jingwen quickly said, “Cousin, let’s not talk about this. I’ll order dessert. I haven’t eaten yet. Qingxue, what do you want?”
Before Ning Qingxue answered, Xie Weizheng continued, “Jingwen, tell me the truth, who gave you that bracelet? Is it precious?”
Su Jingwen glanced awkwardly at Ning Qingxue; she felt her cousin shouldn’t have asked that, but she answered, “A friend gave it to me.”
“Then is it more precious than the one I gave?” Xie Weizheng felt uncomfortable but wanted clarification.
Su Jingwen hesitated, looked at Xie Weizheng’s bracelet, and said, “Perhaps a bit more precious, but…”
Su Jingwen didn’t know how to explain; Ye Mo’s bracelet was more precious.
Xie Weizheng misunderstood. He thought the giver was more important than him. Even though he was magnanimous, his face soured.
Su Jingwen discerned his annoyance. “Cousin, don’t overthink it. I’m used to this bracelet; I don’t want to change it now.”
Xie Weizheng suddenly smiled. “Cousin, the person who gave you this is your boyfriend, right? When did you get a boyfriend? Bring him next time and introduce us.”
Su Jingwen waved her hands. “Cousin, don’t say random things. He’s just a friend.”
Su Jingwen subconsciously looked at Ning Qingxue. She didn’t want Ning Qingxue to misunderstand.
Xie Weizheng smiled. “You said you don’t like dancing and have never danced with a guy. Last time at your birthday, you danced with a guy. Did he give you this bracelet? You say you don’t like guys in your car, but are you sure the person who gave you this bracelet hasn’t been in your car?”
Su Jingwen’s smile vanished. Xie Weizheng was always the protective big brother. Now, he was investigating her. She couldn’t let this go; his tone was unacceptable. For the first time, she felt he wasn’t the same cousin.
“Sorry, Jingwen, I was too emotional. But you even rejected a ball invitation. You’re letting them laugh at me. I came back to Ning Hai intentionally, so you should understand…” Xie Weizheng ignored Ning Qingxue. He wouldn’t let Su Jingwen refuse.
Su Jingwen didn’t expect Xie Weizheng to be so impulsive. He didn’t consider Ning Qingxue. She felt uncomfortable. It didn’t matter if he talked about other people, but he was talking about Ye Mo.
“Cousin, you’re right. I’m still the same to you, and you’re still my cousin. My mum and I are happy you’re in Ning Hai, but did you stay in Ning Hai for other reasons? And, cousin, it’s my freedom who I dance with and who I let in my car. Cousin, you seem to have changed a lot.” Su Jingwen sighed. She felt a strange discomfort.
Ning Qingxue stood up. “Jingwen, I’m going. I’ll call you later.” She couldn’t tolerate Xie Weizheng anymore.
