Chapter 235: Ferocity
Ye Mo was furious. Of all the people there, they had to stop him. He felt they were bullying him for lacking a background, despite possessing a card granting access.
Those behind witnessed another conflict between Ye Mo and the guards. Those familiar with Ye Mo anticipated another display of his strength.
Xu Ping intervened immediately, stating, "I've never heard of a rule requiring verification of card origin. There shouldn't be such a regulation."
The shorter man to the right responded by sending Xu Ping flying several meters with a single blow, leaving him bleeding from the mouth.
"If I say it's needed, then it's needed," the shorter man sneered, contemptuously eyeing Xu Ping then coldly scanning Ye Mo. "Do you have a problem?"
Ye Mo's eyes narrowed.
The shorter man snapped, "What? You have a problem? If you do, I'll beat you up too. Get lost!"
Ye Mo slowly turned away. Seeing Ye Mo seemingly back down, the shorter man spat on the ground, sneering, "What kind of thing are you? Don't you know where you are?"
The onlookers were relieved by Ye Mo's restraint, but also looked down on him for it.
The eagle-nosed man dismissively said, "Get lost, don't waste everyone's time."
Ye Mo smiled and nodded. Before the others could react, he swiftly turned and punched the shorter man's dantian with full force.
A sickening pschhh sound echoed as the shorter man spewed blood, flying ten meters before collapsing. Whether he lived or died was uncertain, but his shattered dantian rendered him effectively incapacitated.
Having successfully executed a surprise attack, Ye Mo retreated several steps to catch his breath, then fixed a cold stare on the eagle-nosed man.
Everyone was shocked by the masked youth's ferocity and decisiveness; a surprise attack on a half-step Earth Level master. Even the shorter man hadn't anticipated it. Was Ye Mo truly impulsive, or was there more to it?
Ye Mo had assessed the terrain. The path back was a cliffside road; escape was impossible for most, but not for him. If a fight ensued, he and Xu Ping could jump. His Wind Controlling Technique ensured their safety.
Ye Mo reasoned that if a fight was inevitable, eliminating one opponent first reduced the threat. He wouldn't wait to be attacked by two peak Black Level masters. He chose the slightly stronger shorter man for his attack; if challenged later, he’d have the advantage since the man struck first.
Moments later, the eagle-nosed man roared, "Bastard! You dare kill my brother?!" He drew a long sword and lunged at Ye Mo.
He believed Ye Mo had only killed his brother due to the sneak attack, and that a single strike would end Ye Mo.
Ye Mo, knowing the eagle-nosed man, while weaker than his brother, was still stronger than Zheng Chengze, remained cautious, focusing his spirit sense on the man's sword.
The eagle-nosed man's swordsmanship was strong, but it posed no real threat. Ye Mo kept his spirit sense on both the sword and his surroundings, wary of reinforcements. If more arrived, he'd flee to avoid missing the auction.
More onlookers gathered as the fight continued. Those without cards were permitted entry now, but since all present held cards, none attempted to sneak in.
The eagle-nosed man unleashed twelve swift sword strikes, creating a near-impenetrable flurry. Ye Mo sneered; he could've killed the man with his own sword on the seventh strike, but refrained from drawing Bian Po’s sword and fought bare-handed.
Twelve resounding bangs later, they separated. The sword strikes hadn't even grazed Ye Mo's clothing.
The eagle-nosed man realized Ye Mo was not as easy to defeat as he appeared. While eager for revenge, he knew he couldn’t rush.
He fired a signal flare, then resumed his attack.
Seeing the signal—a call for backup—Ye Mo knew he needed to end the fight quickly. Regardless of any intervention, he had to kill this man.
Despite his urgency, the eagle-nosed man was proving difficult. Another exchange of blows left Ye Mo slightly bruised. He could've finished the man quickly with wind blades, but he dared not risk it. His spirit sense detected two men approaching, one hundred meters out, clearly stronger than the eagle-nosed man.
He couldn’t wait for their arrival. As he pushed back the eagle-nosed man, Ye Mo leaped, slamming down on him.
The eagle-nosed man smirked, seeing Ye Mo’s exposed chest, as he sliced towards him.
Ye Mo shielded his body, his fist striking the back of the sword while simultaneously unleashing a wind blade that sliced across the man’s neck.
The man’s sword fell still. He touched his neck in disbelief, his hand falling limply. Even in death, he couldn’t believe Ye Mo had used a hidden projectile.
The onlookers were stunned. Ye Mo had been wide open, a blatant flaw in martial arts, yet the eagle-nosed man was instantly killed. The youth’s methods were unnerving, prompting many to warn their associates to avoid him.
As Ye Mo landed, two men in grey approached. Ye Mo’s heart sank; either was far stronger than the eagle-nosed man. He subconsciously took a step back towards Xu Ping, ready to flee with him if necessary.
A man in his fifties with snow-white hair demanded, "How dare you kill the guards of our Xi Shuang Temple Auction? Who are you? What do you want?"
Ye Mo calmly recounted the events, concluding, "If you two elders disbelieve me, ask the others. I also saw these two harassing the sisters from the Lian Hang Jing Mosque. It's clear they aren't good people."
The white-haired man surveyed the crowd. Although no one volunteered testimony, the question prompted honesty.
Another middle-aged man chimed in, "Shi Xiong, it seems this young man is correct. The Gu brothers were rude and disruptive, hindering guests. This is unacceptable. We should have chosen different guards."
The white-haired man sighed. "This isn't something we can decide. We'll let it go for now." Addressing Ye Mo, he continued, "You two may enter, but cause no further trouble. You may choose to leave; I won't stop you."
Ye Mo, aware of the brothers’ influential connections, didn't care. He’d come to participate; he would stay. Saluting, he said, "Thank you, elders."
He then escorted Xu Ping inside.
Everyone made way for Ye Mo, recognizing him as a ruthless, merciless killer.
A young nun from the Lian Hang Jing Mosque, watching Ye Mo’s back, whispered to her companion, "That guy's ferocious. He killed someone from Broken Fist Hall in the canyon, and now the Gu brothers. Still, he avenged us. Should we thank him later?"
The other nun replied, "Shi Mei Yu Er, you're too naive. Do you think he killed for us? Didn't you see he only acted after the shorter man hit his friend? He used us as an excuse for his actions. We shouldn't approach him."
Yu Er pouted, "Oh, I understand, Shi Jie. Why are all the people outside so bad?"
