Chapter 268: Please Hold Up

Ye Mo and Tang Beiwei talked throughout the night. Just before dawn, Tang Beiwei fell asleep. Ye Mo, however, crafted a defensive bracelet and put it on. While useless against seasoned martial artists, it offered protection against ordinary ambushes. He wouldn't have feared an ambush even without it, but why not add an extra layer of defense?
When Tang Beiwei awoke, it was noon. After freshening up, Ye Mo took her to buy necessities before returning to the university for her belongings. Though Tang Beiwei didn't know where he'd stored them, she trusted his abilities and didn't ask. While curious, she was mature enough to understand that some questions were best left unasked. Ye Mo hadn't given it much thought; knowing she was aware of many of his powers, he simply showed her his storage ring when he saw her puzzled expression.
At Tan Du Hospital, Pang Haixiang and Hu Yang were waiting. Seeing Ye Mo, Pang Haixiang rushed over, relief evident in her eyes. Lin San's call about Ye Mo's release hadn't fully eased her worries.
"Doctor Ye, are you alright? We were so worried when you were taken by the police," Pang Haixiang said, her concern evident.
Ye Mo nodded, impressed by Mrs. Pang's tact. Instead of immediately discussing her husband, she'd inquired about his well-beingโa sign of experience and good judgment.
"Thank you for your concern. I'm fine. Your husband should be at Tan Du Hospital, correct?" Ye Mo wanted to treat the patient and leave.
"Yes, thank you, Doctor Ye," Pang Haixiang replied, her gratitude evident while maintaining composure.
Hu Yang seized the opportunity to speak. "Doctor Ye, I'll take you to him." He was eager to witness Ye Mo's healing abilities.
Hu Yang led Ye Mo and Tang Beiwei to a third-floor VIP room.
"Who's that young man? The executive is so deferential, calling him 'Doctor'? It's absurd," a nurse whispered.
Another nurse, who had cared for Chong Yuanyuan, replied, "He cured Chong Yuanyuan's leg yesterday. His skills are extraordinary. His acupuncture was lightning-fastโI saw it myself."
A middle-aged doctor, overhearing their conversation, turned to a colleague, "Manager Liu, is that the arrogant young man you mentioned? Did he really cure Chong Yuanyuan?"
Manager Liu's face flushed crimson. He'd criticized Ye Mo's arrogance, only to witness the executive's deference and the hospital's newfound respect for him. It was a stinging rebuke.
Another doctor asked, "Why is the executive bringing him here?"
A nurse answered, "A patient was transferred from Hong Kong Ma Li Hospital. Their doctors were stumped, so they called Doctor Ye."
"A truly skilled doctor? I must see this," one doctor said, hurrying to follow.
The middle-aged female doctor followed suit. Manager Liu, still incredulous, trailed behind them. He couldn't believe Chong Yuanyuan's leg had been healed, but she'd already been discharged. He needed to see for himself.
Only Pang Haixiang and Hu Yang were allowed into the patient's room with Ye Mo and Tang Beiwei. Ye Mo would have left Tang Beiwei at the university, but the threat from the Earth Fiend organization necessitated her presence. Though he wasn't afraid of them, he couldn't risk their attacking his sister. He'd take Tang Beiwei to Beijing to see their mother, deal with the Song family, then send her to Luo Cang.

Pang Haixiang's husband appeared emaciated, his face slightly purple, breathing labored.
"My husband's symptoms suggest heart disease, but numerous doctors have ruled it out. His face turns purple before he faints. The condition is worsening, Doctor Yeโฆ" She prioritized her husband's safety over social graces.
Ye Mo used his spiritual sense; no physical examination was necessary. He recognized the condition: purple coral poisoning. He knew the coral from the cultivation realm, finding its presence on Earth perplexing.
The man on the bed, Guo Taiming, struggled to sit up. "Doctor Ye, I'm Guo Taiming. I know my disease is incurable and hereditary. If you can't cure me, it's my fate."
Ye Mo had been about to say the cure was simple, but the mention of heredity gave him pause. Had he misdiagnosed?
Seeing Ye Mo's hesitation, Guo Taiming sighed. "My grandfather and father died of this. I have no son, only a daughter. It seems the disease ends with me."
Ye Mo remained silent, inserting a golden needle into a chakra point, channeling his chi. He confirmed his diagnosis: purple coral poisoning, though not hereditary.
Removing the needle, he looked at the hopeful Pang Haixiang and focused Hu Yang. "I can cure him, butโฆ"
Pang Haixiang's joy was immediate. "Doctor Ye, I'll do anything to save my husband."
Ye Mo considered asking Guo Taiming about the source of the coral but decided against it. He didn't need the ore, and Guo Taiming might not understand.
"Never mind," he said, rapidly inserting several needles into different chakra points, using his chi to expel the poison. Guo Taiming's condition, while serious, wasn't as severe or prolonged as Zhuo Youshan's had been.
After half an hour, Ye Mo removed the needles. "It's done."
Pang Haixiang was astonished. "What? Just like that?" Hu Yang echoed her disbelief. There had been no medication or surgery, simply the insertion of needles.
Pang Haixiang reacted first, grabbing Guo Taiming's hand. "Taiming, how are you?"
Guo Taiming felt the pain vanish. Testing his limbs, he stood up, exclaiming, "I'm fine! My body no longer hurts! Such skillโฆ"
Hu Yang murmured in disbelief, "Such skillโฆ" Guo Taiming's condition had been considered incurable.
Ye Mo prepared to leave with Tang Beiwei. "Doctor Ye, please wait," Guo Taiming called out.
