Chapter 272: Go, Immediately Go

Dong Qing was dazed. She hadn’t expected Ye Mo to bring Tang Beiwei into the car. Tang Beiwei was her original target, and being in the car with Ye Mo made things easier. Dong Qing breathed a sigh of relief. Her superiors had said Ye Mo was difficult and sent two people, but she felt they were overly cautious. This might be her easiest mission.
As the light turned green, the Zhang family’s black racer was first. Qiao Gang was second, followed by the Yun family’s two racers. Ye Mo was fifth. He knew that if he didn’t go, Zhang He wouldn’t either. To Zhang He, his life was probably more important than blood coral.
Ye Mo was right. The Cha family’s two racers were last.
Zhang He went ahead and blocked Ye Mo. This was mountain racing; only the starting section was wide. The road narrowed, with some parts only allowing one car.
Zhang He drove his Lamborghini fast, tailgating Ye Mo’s Mercedes.
Ye Mo sneered. Although he followed the Yun family racers closely, he couldn’t shake Zhang He. He didn’t know when the Earth Fiend killer would detonate the bomb, and he wanted to see its power.
The mountain course was dangerous, but the racers drove fast. The black driver was far ahead. Qiao Gang was being overtaken by a Yun family racer. They were one-tenth of the way.
Approaching the most dangerous section, Ye Mo sped up. Zhang He planned to force Ye Mo off the cliff.
Ye Mo knew that engaging Zhang He would trigger the hitman’s attack.
Zhang He gripped the steering wheel, sneering. “Fight with me? I was mountain racing before you even knew what car racing was.” He floored the accelerator, dashing toward Ye Mo. He was confident he could force Ye Mo off the cliff without harming himself.
Zhang He’s calculations were precise. He’d anticipated a turn and only needed to accelerate. Before Ye Mo could turn, he’d bump him off. His car would use the repelling force to turn safely. He knew the force couldn’t be too strong or too weak. Too strong, and his car would go over. Too weak, and he wouldn’t bump Ye Mo. It was difficult, but Zhang He trusted his technique.
Rumble. The Lamborghini’s engine roared, emitting white smoke. Just as Ye Mo was about to turn, it rammed his car. As soon as it touched Ye Mo’s tail, he would turn the wheel.
Behind Zhang He, the Cha family racer and hitman were stunned. Zhang He clearly wanted Ye Mo dead, which they did too.
The Earth Fiend killer almost detonated the bomb but stopped, thinking someone else killing Ye Mo would be easier. He’d detonate Qiao Gang’s car later.
After Zhang He slammed the accelerator, he caught up to Ye Mo instantly. Before he could rejoice, something was wrong. There should have been a collision, but Ye Mo’s car seemed to have disappeared as his car charged forward. Not good—Ye Mo wanted mutual destruction. He’d driven his car completely off the course. There was only enough room for one car. Ye Mo moving aside meant he would fall, forcing Zhang He to turn sharply. But as he thought that, his car went over the cliff.
It was over. Zhang He looked back in disbelief. Ye Mo’s car had only two wheels on the cliff edge; the others hung in mid-air. How was that possible?
Then, with a loud bang, his consciousness vanished. Zhang He’s car crashed.
Tang Beiwei was nervous but not scared. She knew her brother’s abilities. He could handle it.
Ye Mo saw Zhang He fall and sneered. Petty moves. He was curious the killer hadn’t detonated the bomb.
He’d used his flying sword to support his car’s weight. Only two wheels were on the road. The sword couldn’t hold it long, but it was enough for Zhang He to go over.
After Zhang He fell, Ye Mo drove back onto the track, retrieving his sword.
“What was that?” the Cha family hitman rubbed his eyes. He thought he’d seen wrong. Ye Mo had driven off the road, yet he didn’t fall and drove back? Impossible.
Before he could figure it out, Ye Mo’s car disappeared around the corner.
“Why aren’t you detonating? Hurry, we’ll retreat after the mission.” His partner called.
“Yes, I’ll detonate now.” The hitman was depressed. He’d hoped on Zhang He, but that hope was gone.
The Cha family hitman pressed the detonator.
Rumble. Rumble.
Two loud sounds. The two Cha family cars fell off the cliff, erupting into flames before hitting the bottom.
Dong Qing saw flames at the mountain’s foot. She had a bad feeling and called her partner, but there was no answer.
“Not good.” Her hitman’s instincts told her the mission failed and her partner was in trouble. She remembered Ye Mo’s faint smile. Dong Qing shivered.
How could a man who easily killed her partner and caught crossbow bolts be killed so easily?
Ironically, she’d thought this was her easiest mission. Cold sweat dripped down her back.
She subconsciously looked at the Qiao family cars. She wanted to check if the bombs were gone.
Dong Qing looked at the people at the mountain’s foot. Everyone was watching the screen; there were no cameras at the incident sites. The big screen occasionally showed who was in the lead.
She pretended to make a call, nearing the Qiao family cars. The race had started; no one paid attention to the remaining cars.
Dong Qing approached a car, checking one. Her heart sank; the bomb was gone. It must have been moved to the Cha family cars.
Dong Qing felt a chill. She’d placed the bombs and watched the four cars, yet they were moved without her knowledge. What kind of ability was this? Dong Qing couldn’t calm down. She’d seen strange things, but never this.
She sweated uncontrollably. When Ye Mo shook her hand, did he already know her identity? He’d found out and waited until the race ended. Did he mark her?
Go, immediately go. She understood why Ye Mo brought his sister. He knew who she was and waited to deal with her.
Dong Qing, though new to the career, had successfully assassinated five people, including a mafia tycoon. Success here would get her a second orange badge.
For an Earth Fiend hitman, badges meant honor and wealth. Seven human badges meant ascension to Earth-level hitman.
But here in Tan Du, she felt fear. Dong Qing couldn’t stay. She’d leave Tan Du, burn her clothes, and change them before leaving.
She didn’t know what Ye Mo left on her, but her killer’s instincts told her she was in danger.
