Chapter 313: Identity Exposed

Ye Mo sneered. He finally understood why Luo Xuan wanted him to come and even claimed he was her boyfriend. It wasn't just Huo Que who was interested in her; even Huo Quou, that old geezer, wanted her. Otherwise, why the killing intent when Luo Xuan introduced him?
Seeing Ye Mo simply smile and remain impassive, Luo Xuan quickly pulled him behind her, saying, “Grandpa Huo, Mo Ying doesn’t like to talk. Please excuse him.”
“Haha, it’s fine. Young people, a bit of shyness is natural. Come, I’ll take you to the library.” Huo Quou led them to the library, adding, “Browse for a while; we’ll have lunch later.”
Ye Mo’s spirit sense followed Huo Quou. After leaving the library, his face fell, and he ordered, “Notify Que to return immediately, and…”
Though Ye Mo didn’t hear the rest, he knew this old man wasn’t as amiable as he seemed.
“What are you looking at? I hope you don’t mind my saying you’re my boyfriend. You don’t know how annoying Huo Que is. And his grandpa keeps trying to pair us up. If I could avoid it, I really wouldn't have come,” Luo Xuan said apologetically, her face slightly flushed.
Ye Mo smiled. “Of course I don’t mind. We need to find your book quickly. Huo Que will be back soon. How long do you think you’ll need?”
“This fast? I heard Zi Yun say Huo Que was out today. He shouldn’t be back so soon. I think it’ll take a day. Look at how many books are here!” Luo Xuan said helplessly. The books were well-preserved, but their age lent them an ancient scent.
“A whole day?” Ye Mo frowned. After a moment, he said, “What are you looking for? I’ll help you.”
Luo Xuan didn’t hesitate. “My master wants a copy of the Ni Luo Sutra. I’ve searched the university library for a year and still haven’t found it.”
“You don’t need to look. I’ll help you.” Ye Mo scanned the books with his spirit sense.
Luo Xuan looked at him in surprise. “There are so many books. How will you find it? How about we look together?”
Ye Mo waved his hand. “Don’t move. I’m calculating where it is.”
Luo Xuan stared at him with even more uncertainty. Was he a prophet or something? Even a prophet couldn’t predict the Ni Luo Sutra’s location.
This Mo Ying was too amazing. Not only a pill master and Mao Mountain disciple, but also a prophet?
Though dubious, Luo Xuan didn’t interrupt. She chose to believe him. The more she knew about Mo Ying, the more confused she became. At their first meeting, she thought she understood him, but now… it was increasingly unclear.
Ye Mo’s spirit sense quickly scanned the books, finding nothing. Was the Ni Luo Sutra not here? He scanned again, but something felt wrong.
In a Dao De Sutra, two central pages were blank; one held the hidden words “Ni Luo,” the other was empty. The book was strange. Without spirit sense, he wouldn’t have seen it.
Ye Mo went to the Dao De Sutra and picked it up.
Seeing this, Luo Xuan asked strangely, “Mo brother, that’s a Dao De Sutra. I’m looking for the Ni Luo Sutra.”
Ye Mo smiled faintly. “Don’t worry.” He flipped to the blank pages. The ancient book’s pages were yellowed.
“There’s nothing here. Old books often have blank pages for reader comments and notes,” Luo Xuan said.
Ye Mo flipped to the single page. “Look closely.”
“Ni Luo?” Luo Xuan almost shouted, then excitedly took the book. “It really is Ni Luo. This must be the Ni Luo Sutra. Hmm, this is the latter half. There should be a first half.”
Luo Xuan quickly saw the characters “Luo Nie.”
Ye Mo scanned again. “The first half isn’t here. I don’t see it.”
“See it? Aren’t you calculating? Mo brother, you’re truly capable. You even calculated this!” Luo Xuan’s eyes were full of admiration. She’d had little hope at first; her sect gave her the mission as a test of luck. But she’d actually found it.
“Thank you, Ye brother…” Luo Xuan clutched the book tightly.
But Ye Mo wasn’t as optimistic. “Luo Xuan, I suspect Huo Quou won’t let you take this book easily. Even if you ask, what if he refuses? Plus, if he notices something’s wrong with the book, he won’t let you take it, no matter what.”
Luo Xuan frowned, realizing the problem.
“Don’t worry, I have a way to get it out for you, hmm…” Ye Mo stopped, looking at the book thoughtfully.
“What’s wrong?” Luo Xuan asked immediately.
“Give me the book.” Ye Mo took it and pulled the second blank page. With slight force, it fell out; it was only inserted, not part of the binding.
Ye Mo looked at the page and ripped it. It didn’t tear.
“Huh…” Luo Xuan saw his actions. He hadn’t even torn the paper. She was stunned.
Ye Mo held the paper in his palm and used his chi fire. The paper burned to ash, revealing a similarly sized golden leaf.
“What is this?” Luo Xuan asked in amazement. She didn’t know what it was, but sensed its value.
Ye Mo was shocked. This golden leaf was terrifying; as soon as his spirit sense touched it, it vanished like sand in the sea. This was definitely significant.
Ye Mo knew how to make magic artifacts and had seen spirit artifacts, even his master’s, but this golden leaf was unreadable. It was more valuable than any spirit artifact; he even thought it a spirit relic. But that was astonishing.
Spirit relics were legendary, even in the cultivation realm. How could one appear on Earth? He’d never heard of cultivators on Earth.
“This thing is incredibly precious, beyond my comprehension,” Ye Mo said after a pause.
Luo Xuan understood and hesitantly looked at him. “Is this very important to you?”
Ye Mo nodded. “Yes, very.” He wanted the golden leaf, but knew that since Luo Xuan sought the book, her sect was also looking for it.
Luo Xuan bit her lip. After a moment, she said, “Since it’s useful to you, take it. I don’t know anything. I’ll take the book back. If I take back other things, my sect won’t know, and might leave them.”
Ye Mo stared at her. She was actually giving him the golden leaf.
Seeing his reaction, Luo Xuan relaxed. “To be honest, without your help, I wouldn’t have found this. Perhaps my sect only wants the book, and your leaf just happened to be inside. You found it, so it belongs to you. Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone. And this thing isn’t really useful to me.”
Suddenly, Ye Mo’s face changed; the golden leaf vanished. He looked strangely at Luo Xuan. “Luo Xuan, let’s go. Huo Que is back.”
“Okay, we found it anyway.” As soon as they left the library, Huo Que’s voice rang out, “Xuan Xuan, you didn’t even tell me you were coming. I’m back.”
Luo Xuan frowned but said nothing.
Huo Quou, accompanied by a middle-aged man, approached. Seeing Luo Xuan leave the library, he was puzzled. “Luo Xuan, aren’t you going to look at the books?”
Luo Xuan smiled. “Grandpa Huo, my sister called; I need to see her and will be back in a few days.”
“Huh… Xuan Xuan, why are you leaving already? Don’t hurry. I’ll help you find your sister later. Let’s have lunch first,” Huo Que said desperately, ignoring Ye Mo.
“No need, I’m going. Goodbye, Grandpa Huo. Let’s go, Mo Ying.” Luo Xuan took Ye Mo’s hand and, before Huo Quou could reply, they left.
Huo Quou scrutinized Ye Mo, seeing he carried no books. He looked bleakly at Luo Xuan. Just as he was about to speak, the man beside him pulled him.
By the time he reacted, Luo Xuan and Ye Mo were gone. Huo Quou signaled Huo Que, who immediately followed, muttering something behind Luo Xuan.
“Martial brother Liang, why did you pull me?” Huo Quou asked the man.
The middle-aged man said grimly, “Martial brother, do you know who that man was? He’s Ye Mo, the one who took the blood coral.”
“Then what are we waiting for? Hurry and stop them!” Huo Quou said desperately.
