Ye Mo looked coldly at Suo Ren. “Why can’t I kill you?”
Suo Ren quickly said, “Your mother-in-law is in my hands. If you kill me, she’ll die.”
Ye Mo frowned. Although he was sure that was unlikely, Ning Zhongfei had come to San Francisco a few days ago. What if it were true?
He let Suo Ren down and asked coldly, “Where is she?”
“I’ll tell you, but you must ensure my safety,” Suo Ren said. He knew this was his only chance.
“No need,” Ye Mo said, pointing at Suo Ren’s forehead. He wouldn’t negotiate. There were many ways to make him talk.
Suo Ren seemed to lose focus as Ye Mo interrogated him. “Tell me everything you know about my mother-in-law.”
Suo Ren answered expressionlessly, “Ning Zhongfei and Lan Yu represented Fei Yu Corporation, wanting to cooperate with CKG Corporation in the US. I have a friend at CKG and knew about it. Your name in China is too big, so I investigated you, but you arrived before I finished. I do know that Ning Qingxue is your wife and Lan Yu is your mother-in-law.”
Ye Mo frowned. “Where is Lan Yu now?”
Suo Ren replied, “I don’t know. I heard they left CKG. I don’t know anything else; I only said that to save my life.”
“Then get out of here.” Ye Mo threw Suo Ren down. He couldn’t help but admire the man’s quick thinking.
Suo Ren woke up mid-air. Facing the bloody scene, desperation filled his eyes.
Ye Mo scanned with his spirit sense; all the gang members were dead. The servants didn’t matter. He’d won big this time, annihilating the Grey Alliance and earning a lot of money.
Even if some Grey Alliance members remained, they wouldn’t cause much trouble. Besides, with all the people the Grey Alliance had offended, revenge would likely follow soon after his departure. Even Zhu from the Hong Martial Gang would come, let alone others.
Ye Mo shot tens of fireballs below, turning the gladiator ring into a sea of fire before leaving.
To find Sister Yan, he’d have to visit the Vietnamese gang that found the bracelet. But that person was already killed by Tong Zhu—one less lead.
…
Although he was sure Lan Yu would be okay, she was his mother-in-law. Since she was in San Francisco and tracked by Suo Ren, he should find her. Gang activity was prevalent; it wouldn’t be good if she fell into their hands.
The probability was small, but why not check?
When Ye Mo returned to Ming Yu Tower, Shi Kaigen and Tong Zhu waited worriedly. Although Ye Mo hadn’t been gone long, the Grey Alliance’s reputation in Chinatown meant trouble if anything happened to their new leader.
Seeing Ye Mo, they were relieved. Old He, knowing Shi Kaigen followed Ye Mo, also showed respect.
Upstairs, Ye Mo called Shi Kaigen and Tong Zhu over. “The Grey Alliance is over; you don’t need to worry. Now, do you know about a business called CGK, a pharmaceutical corporation?”
Shi Kaigen and Tong Zhu were shocked to hear the Grey Alliance was truly gone, though Ye Mo’s return implied it.
Shi Kaigen replied, “Yes. It’s a moderately sized pharmaceutical company in San Francisco. Its main activity is in the eastern suburbs, but its office is in the inner city.”
Ye Mo nodded. “Someone I know, Lan Yu, was negotiating with them recently and didn’t seem to make progress. Find out where she is. Just find her; don’t startle her.”
Ye Mo then walked into Chinatown. Almost every TV in bars and entertainment centers played news about a UFO invasion. Citizens were urged to call the police with any relevant information.
An hour later, Shi Kaigen called, saying he needed to report and was waiting at Ming Yu Tower.
When Ye Mo returned, Shi Kaigen and Tong Zhu had returned with two people. One was a Chinese man under 30, with spirited, ferocious eyes and a faint killing aura. He was clearly no ordinary character, though his power was low—yellow level primary stage at most. The other was a bound white man of medium build, eyes darting around.
“Brother Ye, this is the Tang Gang leader, Wen Yueji. He heard you were looking for Lan Yu, bound Fred here, and brought him,” Shi Kaigen explained.
Ye Mo looked at Wen Yueji, confused. He was looking for Lan Yu; why did this man bring a bound foreigner?
Wen Yueji bowed. “Ye qianbei, I’ve heard of your name but haven’t met you until today. Let me follow you like Shi Kaigen.”
Ye Mo frowned. “I’m not staying here; why would you follow me?”
Wen Yueji said resolutely, “If qianbei returns to China, I’ll accompany you. If you wish me to stay and conquer turf here, I will.”
Ye Mo looked coldly at Wen Yueji. “You’re calculating. You know I’m not interested in this small place, so you want to use me. Do you know I could kill you with a flick of my wrist?”
Wen Yueji’s forehead sweated. “My words are true. I swore that if anyone killed Jason, I’d serve them for life. Qianbei killed Jason, so I wish to be loyal. From now on, I’m Peng Yueji.”
Ye Mo asked, “Who is Peng Wenhan to you?”
Peng Yueji laughed bitterly. “My only son. When my father formed the Chinese gang, I was a few years old. He sent us to another city, fearing the gang would affect Mother, my sister, and me. I don’t know if he had other reasons, but that’s the truth.”
“Over ten years ago, my sister and I played hide-and-seek. I hid in a closet and fell asleep. When I woke, my mother, sister, and maid were dead. Nothing was taken, so I didn’t call the police. I wanted revenge. I knew my father was in Chinatown and went there. My father’s brother saved me and helped me establish the Tang Gang to kill Jason and destroy the Grey Alliance for revenge.”
Peng Yueji sighed, his eyes on Ye Mo. “Many Hong Martial Gang brothers are from the Chinese gang. I quickly found out what qianbei did. When you went to the Grey Alliance, I sent people to watch. When the Grey Alliance was annihilated, I wanted to thank you. Without you, I’d never have gotten revenge.”
Peng Yueji was going to kneel, but Ye Mo stopped him. He pointed at the white man. “What about him?”
