Chapter 404: Clue Translator: Tim Editor: GlobeGlotter
“What is it?” Ye Mo looked at Xia Ziwei. She was meticulous, so what she wanted to say surely mattered.
Xia Ziwei organized her thoughts. “Three years ago, I was returning Mo Kang. The distance was far, so he called a helicopter. Near the fishing island beside Hong Kong, I saw a civilian jet wobble, almost falling into the ocean. It recovered, so I didn’t think much of it. Two days later, Hong Kong news reported a plane missing, en route from Australia to Korea.
I guessed it was the plane I’d seen, but I didn’t care. Now, hearing Mo Kang mention a missing Hong Kong-to-San Francisco flight, I wonder—could it be the same people?”
Xia Ziwei was curious. Ye Mo’s wife had been on the missing plane. And Ye Mo had married a mortal woman! She wondered what this girl was like; she'd made even him, famous among the hidden sects, fall in love.
Hearing this, Ye Mo frowned. These events might be linked.
“Do you remember anything else?” he asked.
Xia Ziwei shook her head. “Not really.”
Ye Mo knew that even World War III wouldn’t concern hidden sect members, much less a missing plane. He spoke to Mo Kang: “Brother Mo, I’ll investigate. If Mo Ping has news, tell me. Otherwise, never mind.”
Watching Ye Mo leave, Xia Rou sighed. If Mo Kang hadn’t known Ye Mo, they’d be finished. She knew what Zhang Feng would have done.
“That Ye Mo is really that strong?” Xia Rou muttered.
Xia Ziwei replied, “He’s more than strong. I was casually kicked twice. Rumors say he kills Earth-level cultivators like chickens. The He Liu Sect tried to steal his blood coral; he killed everyone involved, and those seeking revenge on the Beijing Ye family also died. Fearing revenge, they sealed their sect.”
Mo Kang nodded. “Brother Ye cured my illness. I knew then he was significant. Now, he’s a dragon. Seeing Zhang Feng act like a coward felt good.”
“Mhm,” Xia Ziwei agreed, for the first time. “His Luo Yue is incredible, too. I heard about the beauty pills; the one he gave out today shows he’s a pill master. The supply is too short. I wanted some last time but couldn’t get any.”
Mo Kang waved his hand. “Of course Brother Ye is amazing. Before Luo Yue launched, I invested 200 million. I wanted to repay him for saving my life. I gave him a small creek; he gave me an ocean. Now, Mo Family Corporation partners with Luo Yue. Others would invest 2 billion.”
For the first time, Xia Ziwei didn’t look at Mo Kang contemptuously. She saw his keen judgment. Knowing he partnered with Luo Yue, she spoke nicely. “Then, could you get some beauty pills?”
Mo Kang looked at her in dissatisfaction. “I’m CEO of Mo Family Corporation; we partner with Luo Yue. Do you think I can get some beauty pills? I can get hundreds, easily.”
“Really?” Xia Ziwei’s face lit up. “Brother-in-law, you must help me!” She didn’t notice the title change.
Hearing her call Mo Kang ‘brother-in-law’, Xia Rou looked at him softly. They’d endured hardship, but she’d chosen well. He was worth loving.
…
Ye Mo had been to Hong Kong several times, but wasn’t familiar with it. Each visit had a purpose.
He remembered Uncle Pei’s noodle shop, where he’d lost his life because of the Da Tang people. Though Ye Mo had annihilated Da Tang, Uncle Pei was gone. This time, Ye Mo wanted to visit the shop and reminisce. He also wanted clues in Hong Kong’s most chaotic place, otherwise, he’d go to the airline company.
Miao Pu was indeed the most chaotic. A bloody youth charged out, chased by two men with hacking swords.
They clearly wanted to kill him.
Ye Mo shook his head. By the time police arrived, the youth would be dead.
He didn’t care. He walked down the street, showing no intention of moving. Onlookers looked at him as if he were an idiot. In Miao Pu, fights happened every few days. Normal people dodged. It usually wouldn’t affect you, but if you were an obstacle…
“Ye-Qianbei, save me!” The youth stopped before Ye Mo, bowing.
Ye Mo looked at the hacked-up youth. “Who are you? I don’t know you.”
The youth gasped. “I’m from the Ocean Gang; I was investigating the missing plane—”
He couldn’t finish. The two men caught up.
They stopped before Ye Mo, silent. They raised their swords, chopping at the youth; another pulled out a triangular spear, aiming for his back. They were killing him, disregarding Ye Mo.
Ye Mo kicked them both to the ground. They spat blood, unable to move.
He’d been merciless because this youth was investigating for him.
The bloody youth stared in shock.
“What’s going on?” Ye Mo asked coldly.
The youth gasped, explaining quickly. “Ye-Qianbei, my gang leader asked me to investigate the missing plane and its passengers. All our members were mobilized. I overheard these two talking about a missing passenger in a park, followed them to a private mansion, got caught, and they hunted me… ”
Ye Mo stopped him, hoisted the two men, and said, “Call a taxi. Take me to that mansion.”
“Yes!” The youth hailed a taxi. Though bloody, the taxi stopped; it knew the consequences of refusal.
Ye Mo tossed the two men inside and ordered the youth, “Continue.”
The youth gave the address. “I heard Japanese men talking. Just as I showed my head, I was caught. They hunted me, but I’m trained in athletics. Otherwise, those bastards would’ve caught me. My gang leader showed me Ye-Qianbei’s picture, so I recognized you. Thank you for saving my life.”
Ye Mo nodded, understanding. Gangs were far more efficient than the government. How many were involved? Even those with jobs were secretly in triads. An order like that was like ordering all of Hong Kong. This differed from a government notice. Civilians might not dare speak, but triad members didn’t care.
This wounded youth had been lucky.
It wasn’t far. They arrived soon. Ye Mo gave the youth a recovery pill, held the two men, and walked towards the old mansion.
