Chapter 411: Island With Sulfur Smell

The ship barely skimmed past the glacier Ning Qingxue was on, as if the people aboard didnโt care about crashing.
Ning Qingxue didnโt dare move. The ship was unnervingly quiet. She wondered if it was moving itself, or if it was a pirate ship where everyone had died after a fight.
But even then, there should be battle damage. This ship looked perfectly fine; the sails were even brand new.
If it truly was empty, her chances of survival improved. Ning Qingxue rejoiced and dismissed the thought. Just as she was about to investigate, a boisterous sound erupted, like a party.
People on board? Ning Qingxue ducked, but the sound vanished. Something was wrong; it had appeared and disappeared too quickly. She wondered if she'd misheard. Either way, she dared not board the ship or enter the water.
This ship was too eerie. If there were people, they wouldn't let it brush past a glacier while partying. If it were empty, it moved too smoothly.
Ghost ship? Goosebumps erupted on Ning Qingxue's arms.
Highly educated and an atheist, she might have boarded it before.
But after the defensive artifact, fireball charms, and so on, her atheism wavered. Perhaps ghosts existed.
The ship scraped past the glacier, but Ning Qingxue hid, listening. Even after it was gone, she heard nothing. Had it been her imagination?
The sea grew colder as clouds obscured the sun, fog forming as the ship disappeared.
Ning Qingxue shivered. She wouldn't risk searching for land. She'd stay on the glacier.
To fight the cold, Ning Qingxue cultivated constantly, eating when tired. During the day, she scanned the horizon for a normal ship, growing increasingly disappointed. Fortunately, her necklace regained some luster; she believed it could self-repair if not broken.
However, her glacier was shrinking. Soon, it would melt.
Once it did, she'd fall into the ocean again. She saw no other glaciers. The water felt warm.
What was this? From the glacier's peak, she saw a black shape in the distance.
An island! Ning Qingxue jumped excitedly. Without her cultivation and preference for solitude, she might have gone mad.
She worried if her glacier would drift towards the island, fearing a swim if not.
Luckily, it was drifting toward the island. She relaxed.
Even if she weren't rescued, she preferred dying on land to being consumed by the ocean. She hated the salty seawater.
Ning Qingxue packed; her bag was nearly empty, only the gun being heavy.
As dusk fell, the glacier neared the island. It was larger than sheโd thought, perhaps over 10 kmยฒ. Vegetation and seagulls suggested it was habitable.
A sulfur smell filled the air. A wide, central area suggested a volcano. If it erupted, she'd be trapped.
But she'd go there anyway; she had nowhere else.
Scanning the island, she was stunned. That eerie ship had stopped nearby!
Ning Qingxue quickly climbed down the glacier as it neared the ship. Though stopped, it hadnโt anchored. She was sure it was empty, but still scared, praying the glacier wouldn't collide.
But it was approaching. Should she jump? She hesitated. Without the ship, she would, but its presence made her more afraid of the water. At least on the glacier she could see.
A gust of wind blew, altering the glacier's course. It might not crash after all.
Relieved, but still clutching her gun, she hid.
As they brushed past, she subconsciously wondered about the ship's interior. The scene projected into her mind!
Astonished, the image vanished, but she knew it was empty. Though the largest room contained a table set with food.
Scared, she didn't understand how the image appeared.
Though cultivating, she didn't know of spirit sense. She'd used it, then retreated in fright.
โUnmanned, yet it avoided glaciers and corals, reaching this island. If that's not eerie, what is!โ
She dared not move, her hand sweating on the gun. She wouldn't choose this island, but she had no choice.
Goosebumps erupted again, a cold wind blowing from the glacier's crevice, blocked by the necklace.
Warm energy flowed through her, calming her.
She murmured, โDid you save me again? Thank you.โ
The glacier touched the island. She fled, not because it was shrinking, but because of the ship. She jumped onto the island, running away from the ship, not daring to look back.
