Chapter 413: Saving on the Ocean

Ye Mo searched the bodies of the men he had killed and found a diary containing several ocean maps. He was almost certain they were searching for Ning Qingxue. Although he didnโt understand the words, he recognized the name Ning Qingxue. The diary marked the parachute's location with longitude and latitude. He picked up the radar, realizing he didnโt know how to use it.
He searched the entire coral island but found nothing about the Black Sun Empire. He confirmed two things: first, Ning Qingxue was safe when she jumped, at least her parachute opened; second, she hadnโt been found, meaning she was still in the ocean.
Although he hated the Black Sun Empire, Ye Mo knew his priorities. Even if he wanted to confront them, he had to find Ning Qingxue first. He carefully left a spirit sense mark in the room and on their Black Sun symbols before leaving on the fishing boat to search for Ning Qingxue while learning to use the radar.
He mastered the radar in two hours. Using it, he could see which areas had been searched, making the search much faster than aimless flying and conserving more chi.
Ye Mo focused on unsearched areas. After half a day, fog rolled in, the air grew colder, and glaciers appeared. He realized he was in a glacial field.
The more he searched, the more worried he became. The cold weather and lack of nearby islands meant that even if Ning Qingxue hadnโt starved, she could have frozen to death days ago. He wondered if she was still alive.
Near midnight, Ye Mo heard a cry for help. Though it was a male voice, he went to investigate.
A white male in his 30s clung to a small flotation device. He appeared near death, his lips cracked, skin pale and soaked. His lifeless eyes showed he was close to death. Ye Mo sighed; he hadnโt found Ning Qingxue, but had encountered someone else in need. He wondered how anyone could be alone in the middle of the ocean.
But Ye Mo wasnโt heartless. He pulled the man aboard, gave him a pill, food, and water. The man was dehydrated. The pill, food, and water saved him.
After swallowing the pill, the white man quickly drank water and ate two cans, before Ye Mo could thank him. Ye Mo admired his will to live. After eating and drinking, he was visibly better and repeatedly thanked Ye Mo. Ye Mo understood only that he spoke English.
Unable to communicate, Ye Mo fiddled with the radar. The man muttered something.
โDo you know how to use this?โ Ye Mo subconsciously asked.
โAre you Chinese?โ the man replied, speaking fluent Chinese. โI thought you were Korean or Japanese. I didnโt expect you to be Chinese.โ He quickly added, โSorry, this is the Pacific Ocean; Chinese people rarely come here. But thank you for saving my life. Iโm Eden, American, but I like Chinese culture.โ
Learning Eden spoke Chinese, Ye Mo became interested and wanted to know his story.
Without prompting, Eden began to explain. He was a professional US golfer who fell in love with Daphne, the daughter of a wealthy man. Daphne didnโt return his feelings.
Eden was persistent. Heโd proven doubters wrong when he transitioned from sprinting to golf, becoming successful through talent and hard work. Though not yet famous, he believed he could reach Tiger Woods' level.
However, his career hadnโt brought him wealth, and he found it difficult to pursue Daphne, let alone attend the same events.
But Eden didnโt give up. Learning Daphne was on the luxury cruiser Bema, traveling from Los Angeles to Canada, he used his savings to buy a ticket, hoping to win her heart, Titanic-style. The Bema was supposedly the worldโs most advanced luxury cruiser, though this was its third voyage.
Passengers considered the Bema superior to any eight-star hotel in comfort, but the ticket price was exorbitant. Only someone like Eden would use all his savings.
The cruiser was initially safe, but on the sixth day, it inexplicably changed course. The original route was safe, but an incident occurred. The US military detected an alien invasion in the Pacific, including the destruction of a US submarine. All military resources were diverted, leaving the Bema unattended after it deviated from its course.
By the time passengers realized theyโd been abducted, the ship was far off course. Eden immediately went to protect Daphne, but the ship was filled with terrorists who disabled alarms and steered the cruiser into the deep ocean.
Edenโs bunker was separated from Daphneโs luxury bunker, leaving him worried. The captain and many crew members, as well as those who resisted, were killed, including those who appeared strong. The terrorists stole money and women; older, unattractive women were killed, while younger ones were taken to a ship with an upside-down skull flag.
Eden managed to jump onto a flotation device. The number of passengers jumping prevented the terrorists from stopping everyone.
Hearing Edenโs story, Ye Mo sighed. He hadnโt expected pirate hijacking of a luxury cruiser. The US boasted about its military strength, yet pirates captured a cruiser at their doorstep while they were battling aliens.
Ye Mo felt guilty; he had diverted much of the US militaryโs sea power, creating an opportunity for the pirates.
Even so, these pirates were exceptionally bold, daring to hijack a ship traveling from Los Angeles to Canada. Ye Mo knew these werenโt ordinary pirates. Their actions implied that even without him as a distraction, they likely would have succeeded.
โBesides that pirate flag, did you see anything else?โ Ye Mo asked, interested because this incident coincided with Ning Qingxueโs jump.
Eden replied, โThere were two sailing ships. I couldnโt believe sailing ships were on the Pacific Ocean. I saw the pirates force women onto those ships while robbing everything. I was desperate to escape and get help for Daphne, so I donโt know what happened to the Bema.โ
โTwo ships?โ Ye Mo repeated.
